I had the same exact score card like Florian.... I gave round 4 to Poirier and the rest to Islam. Huge respect to Dustin Poirier showed up, is a warrior, legend, and future hall of famer.....Islam Makhachev once again proved that his striking is improving and Islam is a complete MMA fighter...I don't want to take anything away from Dustin...But Islam, although he did great, he didn't look like his normal self and I initially thought maybe he had a bad weightcut and recovery...But later I found out that Islam actually had Staph during his camp which made sense. Congrats to both fighters!!!!

Dustin fan here. Win lose or draw. Hats off to DP for making it hard for Islam. Mad respect to the champ Islam for winning. Great fight overall. Tho I might say, in reference to what Kenny is saying if it’s only a stand up I would say DP will eventually win. The threat of being taken down is really a problem fighting Islam as well as Khabib. Islam fan here. Respect to you for being unbiased. That was a good and bad fight... Only bad in the sense that I wanted both guys to win, lol. I'm a huge Islam fan, from South Africa, but I absolutely love Dustin. He is such an amazing fighter and person. II think he did as expected, he gave the champ a run for his money. Dutin can easily be champ himself, I think Dustin would already be champ, if Islam and Khabib was not there, but they have levelled up the division. PLR to all!
I love the show and I love both guys, been training and a major UFC fan for over 10 years. But how are you guys gonna suggest a fighter sit out for 18-21 months just to demand a title fight when the division is stacked and he’s not 100% deserving of one. This is there job you should never be advising any fighters to sit out that long especially during the peak of their career I find it absolutely ridiculous. You want to make the guy miss 5-6 possible fights just because you think he could claim a UFC title shot fight? Not to mentioned JON you work for the company and KNOW Dana hates that and doesn’t reward it.
People watch MMA for the unpredictable entertainment. We expect to be entertained. When you watch a baseball or basketball you know what you’re going to get. The most memorable games are those where the 1 in a million happen. MMA in general is shock entertainment and we want to be shocked. When you tune in to watch grant dawson lay on someone for 15 minutes, it’s 1000 times worse than a 0-0 soccer game.
The solution to the problem of champions moving up a division is simple; make it mandatory they vacate their title first and/or insist they win against a top 5 contender before they get a title shot. The belts should be held by a separate organization, not the league. It reeks of corruption.
