AYY MAN LISTEN today I drop a generational rant in reaction to UFC 309 Jones vs Miocic which got announced at UFC Noche 306 after Sean O'Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili and I think honestly this card is not good at all. I give my opinion on the matchup of Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic, the avoidance of Tom Aspinall, Dana White's glazing as well as my maybe unpopular opinion on Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira 2 instead of getting McGregor vs Chandler or Charles Oliveira vs Dan Hooker. When Stipe was champ UFCs only interest in him was to try to use him as a sacrificial lamb to hype up Nganu. Once that was successfully accomplished (on take two lol) Stipe was discarded until it was time to bring him back from the scrap heap for the sole purpose of once again using him as a sacrificial lamb this time to hype up Jon "Roids" Jones. If the man had any self respect he'd pull out of the fight morning of and leave Roids to pull out like the coward he is rather than fight Apinal on short notice.

Jon Jones canceled a whole fight card when Chael Sonnen was a late notice fight. The whole card was cancelled, and Dana White went into Dana Red. Jon has consistently been a thorn on Dana's side, and Dana was FUMMING against Jon for YEARS because of this.

I find it hard to get too upset about the cards precisely because I'm not going to be paying for them. The UFC seriously needs to abandon the PPV model anyway. I think if they made Fight Pass more expensive (say like $25 or $30 a month) and streamed the PPVs there they'd probably make more money. Sure, I could still get them for free but I wouldn't mind paying that if it meant I didn't have to worry about buffering or the stream constantly freezing. The WWE launched the WWE Network and streamed what used to be PPVs on that and they still made plenty of money.

@@BiggieTrismegistus yeah that'd be cool if it wasn't around $80 per ppv. Lucas Tracy (rip) talked about this in a video awhile ago and agreed with it. I think $25 would be reasonable especially for a younger audience. 14-20 year olds don't really have a consistent flow of income so $80 is a lot. Also even as an adult who wants to pay that much for main card fights that aren't guaranteed to be good lol.

He's got a world title with 1 win in 5 years after an arguable loss. He ducked Ngannou for years and he's ducking Aspinall. Had he moved up immediately, you'd be right, but he didn't, he sat out and waited for an easy shot at the title, now is going for an easy defence. After such a struggle in a lower weight class

@@clkgtr12 Yeah thing is, we don’t usually hand out title shots by process of elimination due to a lack of competent win streaks, Chandler hasn’t fought in multiple years, all the other ranked Lightweights have fought multiple times in that time, Gaethje’s more deserving of a title shot than Chandler would be if he were to win against Olivera, and Dana said the McGregor fight might happen after the Olivera fight regardless of the outcome It’s a pointless fight

If Stipe pulled out, they would not try and do Alex vs. Jon. As crazy as it may sound, Dana and the UFC don't want two HW champs in a row who never fought the former title holder. As crazy as it sounds, they do want a proper lineage for the belt. I know in the past Dana has never had a single bad thing to say about a champ leaving with the belt and not continuing to fight til they lose, and says it's great to have a champ who didn't win the belt off the former champ (/s), but you can trust me on this one.

This card gives me boxing vibes. Jones, Charles and Bo only lose if they get fluked. I tune into ufc pay per views for compelling match ups where I don't know who's gonna win. Chandler maybe has the best chance out of the 3 underdogs but he's almost 39 now, I just don't see it unless he gets a random flatline ko.

I really don't blame Jon for not fighting Tom, if he beat tom he wouldn't get any props for it, and if he lost he'd lose his legacy. Ufc heavyweights usually dont dominate for long, theres always another killer ready to take the next guys place like how everyone thought sergei was gonna ko everyone. It is unfortunate but the UFC HW division has been a joke for awhile. Jon will probably beat stipe and retire, then it will pan out

I look forward to watching Jones vs Stipe, only because my first card was 302 and I am grateful I get to watch Jones fight live at all, but I'm also looking very hard for the silver lining. I'm also English which makes it even worse that Tommy isn't getting his rightfully objectively deserved opportunity. Fuck Dana White kinda/mostly.
