Idk I kind of feel like he always had respect from the fans until the second Holloway fight when a bunch of toxic Holloway fans (not saying all Holloway fans) decided to start hating on him solely because he arguably beat their favorite fighter in a close fight. Other than those toxic fans though, the real MMA community has always respected his skill set.

To the casual fanbase though, it was very much a case of "who the fuck is that guy?" especially after he beat Max Holloway because they had no idea who this Aussie bloke with a Russian sounding surname was.

Who’s here after the Topuria fight😢. This version of Volk wouldn’t have gotten knocked out back to back from Islam and Ilia. Listen to that commentary from Hardy, play by play what is happening. A bit of emotion but just solid in the way he describes what's actually happening. Doesn't jump to conclusions, calls it as it plays. Would love to see that with others.

I didn't really notice before, I suppose because you don't notice small increments changing over a long period, but man, Anik's commentary has gotten so much better since this fight. He's so much smoother now. I like Anik's comms so much that I can barely stand to listen to Ranallo and McCarthy on Bellator or that horrendous ear-herpes that is Schiavello's voice.
