The only thing that separates him and khabib is khabib's iron chin and Islam's much better standup. If Oliveira can submit islam then he surely can khabib. But if he knocks out islam then it's not the same as khabib can take much better shots.

Islam got championship fight without fighting porier,gaethje,dariush or chandler...I mean technically he could've beat them all but fighting them could have given much needed ring time and perfect his game for Olivera. This honestly is a huge jump and Charles will bring his winning momentum,full 10+yrs experience,high fight IQ and best offense game,pretty certain he will overwhelm and make it nasty to weather the makhachev storm.

I have to agree. On paper, this should go to Charles. I like Islam, but I’m not sure he’s as good as the hype suggests. I want Islam to win, but I don’t see anything in his style that suggests he definitely will. It’s possible, but it would be foolish to rule out Charles. The guy is incredible. Perhaps his poor vision will give Islam an edge as Islam does seem to be a very patient and smart fighter. Damn, I can’t wait to see this fight. It’s rare that I have zero clue who is likely to win.

Heart says Charles, brain says Islam. I say this just because of Khamzat's performance of how dominant wrestling can control a black belt BJJ (Kevin Holland) and Charles's subs threat mostly come from offensive subs, if Islam were to pressure with wrestling, this will need to be negated by defensive subs. We have seen Charles trying to do these defensive subs against Chandler recently and Chandler handled it pretty well. I really hope Charles practiced this part and doesn't get overwhelmed by the wrestling.

This is a tough fight to call. I want to say Islam, but Charles is special and incredibly dangerous. I just want to see Islam win. But if I’m being honest, I haven’t seen anything from Islam that suggests he will dominate Charles. He’s a smart fighter, sure, but Charles is a submission god. It can go either way.

Olivera going to win , he’s unstoppable right now. His boxing has improved so much which was his only weakness . He’s better boxer then Islam , islams only chance is to take him down and submit him. Charles last 5 opponents have all been top5 fighters in world and he dominated them . Oh by the way , he beat Dustin faster then khabib , same with Justin . Charles beat Justin gaetcje who is an animal and one of the best in world . He beat him in the first round, which I don’t think Justin’s ever ever been gone in first round . It was the first 3 minutes I believe so too

This is a tough one. Both fighters are balanced. Charles is very strategic and creative. He also hits hard and he has a great ground game. Islam is probably the strongest guy in his weight class. His submissions are another level. He also hits hard. I give a slight edge to Islam, because I really don't see anyone beating him in his weight division. But who knows what will really happen in this fight? Can only speculate.

A tough fight for both guys, but I also feel that Oliveira is reckless when attacking and that's a big red flag when fighting someone like Islam, Oliveira got dropped and hurt in most of his recent fights but all his opponents didn't follow up because they were scared from getting submitted and that's not the case with Islam because he will go deep with him on the ground

I don’t know… Olivera is a scary dude. The guy is a terminator. Justin said he literally felt Olivera’s strikes in his tongue. He said his shots were the hardest he’s ever been hit and this man has faced some tough ass guys. And Olivera literally just keeps walking forward through contact. Even if he gets dropped, he gets back up and KEEPS GOING FORWARD. Dude is the hardest hitting lightweight, a super submission artist and just seems to dominant to be KO’d or subbed. I just don’t see him losing.

I think for sure this fight will be great. This fight is going to be about cardio. I don't think we have ever seen Islam in a 5 round fight so that should be interesting to see. Both are pretty damn good on the ground. Islam has great wrestling while Charles has great jiu jitsu. It will be a fun fight to watch for sure.

Funny how a lot of people pick Islam to win just because of the bias towards him due to his religion. The funniest thing is that Islam doesn’t even remotely deserve a title shot because his best win was against a declining Dan Hooker. Charles has fought the elite of the elite and has finished all, but one of his opponents in his 11 fight win streak (had the round been another 5-10 seconds he would have snapped Tony’s arm. Charles has proven to be a massive threat on the feet and the ground, so Islam isn’t safe anywhere. This is by far Islam’s biggest test in his makeshift home city and the pressure may very well get him to lose composure if he gets rocked on the feet. The amount of disrespect thrown Charle’s way by Islam fans is disgusting and even though I don’t have much against Islam as a competitor, I want him to lose because of how shit his fans are.

Gaethje had just lost to Khabib and Dustin wanted to fight Mcgregor, so it made sense for Chandler to fight Oliveira. Plus he starched Dan Hooker in a way which has never been done before so Chandler obviously deserved the title shot given the circumstances.

If you watch the Paul Felder fight, charles dominated him for a round until felder just gone into bersek mode and overwhelmed oliveira by brutal force. Charles at this point looked like a skinny skeleton comming from the FW division. After that fight he got into a really strenght and condition program and got really stronger. Charles in a new fighter now not because of some mental bullshit, he just got really stronger, he has always been extremely technical, he was just too weak.

He deserves it. In my opinion, the biggest part of one's mma career is how they deal with their losses. To lose so many and come back to smash the entire weight class. Makhachev is just more technical than Oliveira as a grappler. He knows how to takedown Oliveira and submit him with minimum effort, maximum result, while Oliveira has no technique as a grappler like all shitty bjj fighters. Sambo > bjj
