Analysts: “you need cardio to win” Coaches: “you need skill to win” Fighters: “you need speed to win” DDP: “you just need to make them cry and feel really awkward …I have no idea what the rest of you are talking about”
DDP has the attitude and resilience of his forebears in him. Read more about the "Bittereinders" during the Anglo-Boer war 1899 - 1902 in South Africa.
@jfkmuldermedia I agree with you first half of the comment but don't talk about lineage cos that's usmans and Izzy's biggest argument, DDP not talking about his ancestors, he's talking about himself and his life
As an English SA'can I think he means more, our history lends itself into a country culture that produces people with traits like this. The Afrikaner history is literally constant failure in war, politics, etc. It breeds people who will just keep going, ignoring the pain and issues@@Devesh_Padayachee42069
I was rooting for Strickland pretty much for the past four years now, but I can’t publicly be a fan of his anymore due to the cringe cult that he has somehow Garner partly thanks to Nina. I think she really ruined his aura and basically implemented nothing but an echo chamber fans for his
If you look at when Sean started leaking it was from Dricus throwing a straight right but they immediately clinched after that and Sean blames it on the clinch.
@RealAfricanDude the crazy part is the cut (which seanites blames with the headbut) was in round one from an elbow. The inadvertent head collision that opened the cut further was midway round 4 , when DDP was basically up 3-1.
Dricus reminds me of that quote about "What makes the lion the king of the jungle?". Its not because he's the strongest, fastest or smartest, its because of his mentality.
Honestly, I watched the fight twice again, without the emotion of the first. Bare in mind I was sure that Strickland edged it and would retain the belt when I watched it live. Here's my thought and why I can see how the judges edged it in favor of DDP. First round was all Strickland. No need to debate that. He schooled DDP. 2nd round was all Strickland again in the first 2 minutes, but then something changed. DDP started to pressure more, despite the constant and effective jabs. He started to control the ring more, and by the end of the round, it was probably only slightly in favor of Strickland, if not a draw. 3rd and 4th round was DDP. Considering how in control Strickland looked in the opening 7 minutes, it was amazing that DDP not only came back but kept Strickland on the back foot. Although DDP was taking heavy jabs, he barely slowed down. He pressed Strickland, who from about the 2-minute mark of the 2nd round, right through to the end 4th round, was almost constantly retreating. DDP was changing it up. From kicks to hooks to jabs to takedowns, constantly keeping Strickland guessing. Whereas Strickland was just a one show pony. A fucking effective one show pony, but he wasn't offering anything more. Essentially, DDP kept pressing and Strickland kept retreating for the most part. The main reason that Strickland looked better than DDP in the 5th, wasn't because he out fought him, but because for the first time since the start of the 2nd round, he actually attacked and tried to be aggressive. Which gave the impression that he won the round, but in reality, it was even. The mere fact that DDP came back as well as he did, after that first round and bit, was amazing. The way he changed it up and adapted and never backed down, is what I would see as the difference in what swayed the final decision. Make no mistake, I love both fighters and I still feel that on the basis of being the defending champion, Sean should have been given the benefit. The fairest result would have been a draw and a rematch if I had to call, but I can see clearer how the final decision was made. Let's hope we get the rematch and put all this nonsense to bed.
Most of Strickland fans are counting the damage Strickland did in round one, for the whole fight, it can only be counted for round one. The rest of the rounds are scored individually, and Strickland was no theat to Dricus in any other round.
@@bijosn True, but all of the damage was done in round one, it doesn't count for all the rounds, you should learn how mma scoring works, every round is counted individually. Go back and watch the fight if you didn't see it before, you will see that DDP's face looked like a balloon at the start of round two. Sean didn't do much for the rest of the fight, if he did, then let me know where and when.
@@julianworthy9417 so what Driscus finished the fight but before that rob and till we’re winning the whole fight all these Driscus wins are just a fluke, u must be a casual
@@bijosnnope, he got moments before the head collusion, from a punch. You can clearly see the cut open after the hit. Dricus also had one eye completely shut, didn’t slow him down
When Adesanya and Duplessis had fought Izzy was the better striker and had outstruck DDP but the thing is DDP simply had the will to win even when both of them were gassed in the 4th. DDP is like rocky balboa he goes against skilled opponents but due to his will and grit he gets the job done.
I am now seeing comments describing the way, he fights as uncanny and psychotic. And I know Dricus would love that title of being THE ONLY FIGHTER whose style is a nightmare for every single opponent. His previous opponents have admitted that he is so awkwardly vicious and strong and there’s just no real practical way to train for this type of fighter in DDP
@@DagestaniFanboy no he didn’t that was an early stoppage and Sean was winning that fight until that shot and u kno it sean is the best middleweight of all time u must be a casual
the point is blood was in his eye 3 full rounds, he lost the 4th and won the 5th, might have won the 4th without the blood in the eye, it looks like the punch cut it, then heads possibly collided, possibly and elbow, but whatever, it was a rare cut, something you can't just strategize to blind your opponent and ddp will highly likely face a 2-eyed sean this next time, so who wins? who knows
We south africans stand behind dricus unlike any fanbase in the mma. The difference between other fans and their fighters is they don't care about the fans. Ddp cares about south africans and all our people. Ddp will fight until he is forced to stop and for that win or lose he will make south africa proud and we will be in his corner. Through the good and the bad because he is an example of the south african spirit that all our good countrymen share. A unity unlike any other forged out of a past that couldn't have been any more ununited.
There is a monster in the ufc middleweight division and he already fought the best in the middleweight division Israel and Robert Whittier and Sean Strickland.
The reason ddp has so much heart is because he isn't just fighting for himself. He's fighting for all 60mil south africans and he really takes that to heart as all pur athletes do. Americans have a word patriotism but we fight for unity. FOR ALL OUR COUNTRYMEN. Look at the springboks journey in the series chasing the sun 1 and 2 about fighting for your country. Sean fights for sean most fighters only fight for themselves. Of course dricus fights for himself definitely but he equally fights for that little kid waiting with their mom or dad at the airport when he comes back. In america you're just a fighter in south africa our sport stars are our hero's we look to them as examples and unity formers. Sport allows south africans of all backgrounds to come together in unity. As nelson mandela aka Madiba said “Sport has the power to change the world, it has the power to inspire.” “It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does."
I don't get it whenever people say a champion shouldn't lose a close decision fight. Fights are judged after each round. It's not like judges can change their score after a fight goes the distance. If you don't want it to come down to the judges then take it out of their hands and finish the fight
Got to give him respect, ddp looks ragid & loose but it's his way and it's the hardest way to do it breaking them down, tons of upper body strength him and Strickland is a cracking fight both mad as a brush
The man is a underrated beast. Undeafeated champion in UFC. Former Welterweight and Middleweight Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Champion. Former Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW) Welterweight Champion. Undeafeated as an amateur kickboxer. He doesn't look good, but he is good, very good.
Drikus with some boxing skills of Bivol = Mind blowing if he could fight Sean with a little Bivol and South Africa tuffness.. His footwork is lacking, his combos' aren't striking the way it should.. But no fear, he can win, but to obtain Greatness to the level he wants,,, BIVOL can only better him to that level..
If Dricus had heat butted Sean, Sean would have known all about it. Sean was that Dricus was going for the win and not the jugular. Next time Sean wont last 3 rounds 4 sure. And it will be a tap tap tap rear choke.
It's extremely strange the way people keep saying that DPP KO's Sean or ends him in the third. What the fk fight did they watch? First off, it was 48-47. Secondly, Sean outstruck him with blood in his eye for 2 full rounds. Thirdly, 25 FULL minutes, 6 takes downs, and DPP couldn't do SHEEEIT. Sean won the 5th round, so it's pretty reasonable to say that without blood in his eye in round four he'd have done enough to take round 4 and win the fight. I keep hearing that DPP has gotten better, and Sean can't adapt but DDP can. Guys, did you not see what the hell Sean did to beat Costa? He literally marched him down, differently from his approach to DDP. That's a fighter adapting. He walked Costa and Izzy down. Masterclass. DDP finished Izzy but Sean fought Izzy after Izzy was on top of the world after finally KO'ing/defeating Alex. He faced a very confident Izzy regardless of the BS "Izzy had an off day" excuse. DDP faced a defeated Izzy and was in more danger than Sean ever was against him. Anyway, show some respect. DDP ragdolls fighters and he couldn't do that to Sean. Just watch the last minute, that was all heart. This matchup is as close as it gets. You people who keep downplaying the obstacle DDP is facing really are not appreciating just how lucky we are to see these 2 face each other again. DDP would damn sure rather be facing Robert. This will be a fight for the ages.
When the DDP from Dricus vs Martin V Staden gets in the ring. Hrll make strickland look like a novice. DDP wanted to beat the striker at his own game the first bout .. And it nearly cost him. This will be fire match
Strickland really need to watch the fight again. Dricus hit him with a knuckle that cut his eye. And another thing DDP also fought with only 1 eye vision. Strickland must just accept the defeat and fair defeat against DDP. DDP will beat Strickland again here in South Africa. Sorry Shaun you don't call the shots where the fight should take place you are the challenger not the champ. DDP went to Vegas to beat you so you can come to DDP's back yard if you want the belt. Promise you no one in SA will even know you are here unless to check in every where since our country is racist like you claim then I think you should give the ticket to RW he want to fight and rightfully his time. Strickland will cry all the way back to America once he loose against DDP. Nipple to nipple to the death ain't that right shaun
Sean Mr jab n tip kicks will drop in the first round this time coz he is not being real about the fight coz when DDP touch with the left hook n cut him n when he touch him on the right he cut him again Sean is not being honest abt the fight Sean is not a tough guy he is a big cry baby kabib was true when he said that the UFC has fake gangster coz he hide behind his guns n bad boy stuff he trying to prove he is bad
I thought Sean won the first fight & I bet DDP,. Sean is the real champ he gets that strap back. Bro did u see DDP face after the first fight haha he got fucked up #AndNew #FuckCanada
Taken down sweetly 4 times, moving backward 4/5ths of the fight, having nothing in his arsenal apart from a jab... you and all the other idiots keep coping
Eh? He's already fought Du Plessis, and a lot of people think Sean won. Du Plessis looked like he walked into a wood chipper the next day. Sean, having fought him before, should have a much better idea the 2nd time. Warning Sean seems odd, from people who have never fought Du Plessis. I think Du Plessis is a good fighter, amazing heart etc. Its just odd to warn a guy who has already fought him.
Yeah ddp walked into a woodchipper early in Rd 1/2 that was switched off. 😅 Strickland walked into a knife, multiple times. Aand no. It' wasn't from the headRUB in the clinch. That's not how you get cut.
