Stats are the only thing to decide a fight. The stats line up pretty close so it could go either way. Also jan landed more of his strikes also wrestling someone for 2 rounds doesn’t win you a fight. So in reality this was a good call but certain type of fans can’t accept a guy that believes in the same things lost. 😂

Ankalev has crazy leg kicks too, he even have Leg kick knockout but since Ankalaev isnt popular or ppv sales favoured he can't get title shot easy just like Pereira, Pereira got easy to have a title shot chance because of their popular rivalry with Izzy, Dana is more on ppv sales and money than an actual combat fight, There's a lot of talented and dominant fighter in LHW but don't get attention because fans would think it boring to give them title shot, Just imagine Jamahal Hill isn't that popular or has high fight ppv sales which is why fans think UFC 300 main event is boring, how about those who is less popular than Jamahal Hill they can't get title bout they just always fight for prelims even though they deserve title shot, 80% of title shot given only for rematch or some other champions contender or former, Just like middleweight, Khamzat and other fighter can't get title shot because Dana white didn't like it as they can't bring hype and high ppv sales,

R4 and R5 Ankalaev's grappling was far more effective than anything Jan could muster. R4 10-9 Ankalaev, R5 10-8 Ankalaev. @@ramoncavalcante7920 For Jan, sure, He's getting older by the second, he's 41 now, So I expect a worse version of him at this point. Alex can train all he wants, those are skills you simply don't improve over night, there's fighters who train for years and their wrestling defense simply doesn't improve, as an example, I'll use Wonderboy who trains with Weidman, but even so his TDD is still a hole in his game. Alex hasn't faced a single wrestler-grappler, We won't know if he's improved there until he faces a wrestler, as it stands right now, he's been taken down by strikers and held down by them.

@@di114n2it’s true he’s better than Alex on the ground, but I feel Alex has evolved so much and is just overall too strong and Ankalave would waste a lot of energy trying to take him down and hold him down. Ankalaev isn’t really a finisher on the ground infact he has no submission wins in the UFC and has been subbed by Paul Craig in the last second of their fight. With that said I just feel like Alex poses so much more finishing potential over Ankalaev whose chance is to win via decision and that’s over 25 minutes with 5 rounds starting on the feet. Ankalaev’s best case scenario would literally be to take Pereira down every round without getting caught and exhausted then holding him down, I highly doubt Ankalaev can sub him because if anyone watches Ankalaev’s fights they’d know he is more of like Kamaru Usman rather than Khabib or Islam.
