I have had the similar issue since a spectator ran into me during the Chicago marathon. It tends to get worse when I run faster due to a higher knee lift. Drs have no idea what’s going on but my internet Dr’s degree found Osteitis Pubis to fit the issue the closest. Hope you get back soon, love the videos and good luck the rest of the year.

Oh man! Yeah I’m thinking it’s that or some form of tendinitis. Going to try some easy runs and lifting and see how it feels. Thanks!

Feel better, that could be a lengthy injury. If you don’t take the necessary time off, so absolutely make sure you’re pain-free during the run as well. Get better!

Hang in there, Steven. I’ll be thinking about ya this week as you heal up and get word back on the issue. I also had several training setbacks in the form of sicknesses and a slight injury as well. Only out for about a week but next marathon is coming quickly so it can be frustrating, as you know! Anyway, praying for you and the fam! (The E-4’s and AF1 used to hang out at Offutt in Nebraska, so fun to see those!)

The only 2 times I’ve done the Copenhagen Planks, I got slightly injured. Therefore I stopped doing them! I did however do a psoas release technique and it seemed to relieve the tightness.

24 hour test.A physio advised when returning to training to do a,self assessment the first 24chours when trying to resume training. Then Guage pain/discomfort level for next steps in recovering vs training. Bummer. Going through some pain with trying issues myself. Took a week off.

Ask the DR to check your Psoas muscle too, I got like a 4 months injure -frustrating- especially because my pain, like yours, it was in a "zone" not something where you touch and say "it's right there" - Ultrasound will help, hopefully you dont require a MRI ($$) - but may be needed to check for a stress bone. best of luck, hopefully it's a simple thing
@UltraTrailSteven

Thanks for the update. I'm interested to see what they say as I have something almost identical but sounds like not as severe. I can run and go through life with no issue but if I ever do have to cough after about the 10K mark of a run I can feel discomfort in that same spot. I kind of have to kick that leg way up when I cough and I look like an idiot. It hasn't been getting any worse for a year or so so I kind of just ignore it but just yesterday (strangely enough) I was looking up rehab exercises. The only reason I'm not worried is it never bothers me while on a run. Even 50+ K no issues (unless I cough). Keep us posted:)

Does sneezing hurt you too? Well it’s not a hernia, but now to physical therapist to see if they can figure it out.
@cpruns4501
@cpruns4501 5 месяцев назад
@@UltraTrailSteven ya sneezing is the worst. Glad it’s not a hernia and I feel like it’s not because it will subside with rest so I think I just need to strengthen something done there. Keep us posted on your physio exercises as I will copy what you do:)

It sounds like you may have athletic pubalgia. I had the same thing a year ago and was seeing local doctors and doing physical therapy for 4 or 5 months with no improvement and no one able to figure it out. Ended up having to travel to Philadelphia to see Dr Meyers at the Vincera Institute for an accurate diagnosis and eventually surgery. Might want to call them for a phone consult as there are only a couple of doctors in the country that specialize in these types of core muscle injuries in the abdominal/groin/adductor. Wishing you the best.

it is still present but not painful. it does hurt when I wake up and sometimes when I cough. I've been doing Copenhagens to build up the muscle.

Injuries always suck. I pulled something in that area in high school (a very long time ago) and I just have a big ball of muscle there now since I didn't seek treatment. It's like a baseball when it flexes where the other side is normal. So it good to seek treatment! I wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for answering my question and giving detail on your easy runs.

Sounds a lot like the inguinal (groin) hernia I probably had for a year or two, which finally got a lot worse this last year and couldn't be ignored any longer. The surgery slowed me down but was the right call for sure. Everything about your description of the pain, the doctor's responses, etc, sounds nearly identical to what I went through. Good luck Steven

Hope you feel better soon Interesting I have the same. I’ve been feeling the pain and I thought it was my abductor or something and not the hip because when I get up out of bed in the morning, it was hard to get up.. But I was able to run in 15-18 miles was my weekly long run but this weekend I had a 50 K and after about that 18 miles it really different up on me. I was able to finish the race but it wasn’t pleasant. I did a lot of walking,. Taking 2-3 off anything and 1-2 gym only. I was kind of ticked off because I was supposed to do the cruel jewel this year in May but that’s off man I’m 62 so I don’t have any more chances.

Those Copenhagen side planks should be done with caution. I hurt myself as well doing these and since eliminated them. These exotic variations of strength exercises for runners are not for everyone 🇨🇦

What a bummer. Sounds like it could be just a strain. One reason I have to be careful about doing speedwork b/c it’s not my typical workout and I end up straining something. However, as someone who just had inginual hernia repair surgery back in Dec, the pain you are having is definitely reminiscent of what I had. I would have it for days and then it would subside. It caused me to limp at times. Just coughing and it hurt prob rules out a strain. I had an ultrasound and they didn’t find it. Went to urologist too and thought was just a strain/inflammation. Went a year still racing/running but with discomfort. Finally on my yearly physical, I had another “turn and cough” exam after stating my symptoms and they determined it was a hernia. Nothing had changed from the year prior other than my pain was a little less. So I had it then, they just didn’t find. So don’t rule out a second opinion. You know your body. Also do a self exam to see if you can pinpoint the pain. Are you having swelling, redness, etc? Does NSAIDS (if you take) help? Hope it’s not a hernia, but if so, get it repaired ASAP so you can recover faster. I’m 8.5 weeks out and still have so discomfort. I haven’t done any speedwork since. Hit me up if you have questions.
@UltraTrailSteven
@UltraTrailSteven 5 месяцев назад
Dang thats disheartening lol. My ultrasound didn't show a hernia either. No bulging spots, not swelling or redness, no pin point area of pain. Just radiating pain in that general area. I haven't taken any NSAIDS yet. I will prob reach out to you! Thanks man
