I had purchased for a 1080p monitor but when connected to my S23 Ultra's DeX it stutters and goes on and off and it's very annoying that's why I'm looking for a new hub.
Really good review, any chance you can do a comparison of all official/unofficial dex stations and their capabilities(resolution/open windows/ports/price)? Thank you
can you share us screen resulation on dex mode. I bought that one using with note 10 nad tab S7 but I cant get 4k regulation with note 10 tabs7 it just give 1080p
i'm selling my cheap gaming laptop to buy a tab s6 because laptop is too heavy to move around and all the cables are giving me nuts i was worried at first that tab s6 will not do the work for me and then i saw your videos now im convinced that the tab s6 will do for me thank you 👍
Finally found this review! I have also bought this usb type c adapter a week ago, and been wondering why is the adapter is significantly getting hot when I connect it to my external monitor. It gets warmer when i plugged the power adapter. Is this still normal? I have also contacted the UGreen Support but they keep on asking non-sense questions.
USB-C hubs gets warm around the part where POWER USB-C cable gets plugged in. If it is warm but not hot to touch - it is normal. From all the USB-C hubs i have tested temperature goes between 34*C - 37*C while rest of the USB-C body feels a bit colder. Power port area can go hotter or colder depending how powerful power delivery wall plug is. If i connect USB-C hub to 60W power wall adapter temperature will go higher compared to if i use standard Samsung wall plug adapter. I hope this makes sense.
@@MRPtech thank you for making this video. im going all dex with my note 20 ultra and will get this one as my first type c hub. i only use a 1080p monitor but what concerns me the most is the power charging of my phone.
I have the same issue on my usb-c hub with headphone jack but it is easy to switch audio ouput in the interface, same with my HP Lapdock.... Really hope Wireless Dex will be shown at next Samsung Show.
I tried the ugreen with my note 20 ultra and Samsung 4k 60hz gaming monitor and only got 1080 at 30hz in mirror mode but got 4k 60hz in Dex mode. Kinda useless for me I use mirror mode for gaming.
Hi man. I have a Note 9 too. i want buy kind of type c hub. which one is best for us? i will make my note 9 as android TVbox. i need ethernet, hdmi, sd card and usb ports. Can you recomended for Fitport hub? second question about hdmi audio. have audiyo on hdmi? because i will use with tv.
Brilliant reviews. I was / am using the Samsung version wired EE PW700 HDMI & USBA w/ UBB-C pass-through on Note 10+ & even Note 20 U. It gets hot as well. I can. Now we have the wireless Dex but I haven't used it yet. On S23U
Hey!! Can I use this to connect my Canon eos m200 and a usb mic I have to my mobile phone so I can record sound and video at the same time with just my phone or tablet?
@@MRPtech wow incredible analysis. I recently started exploring dex and blown away by the capabilities. The pain i came across is choosing the best hub for it. There are just so many to choose from and no website really tells you which one is best or which will will work with guaranteed resolutions until in across tour video which has detailed perspective. So i ordered this hub and a hdmi 2.0 cable will see how i go
Please let me know your results once you get hub and cable. I will update r/SamsungDeX sub-reddit wiki page. we started to collect information about HUBS. trying to collect a list of "best" hubs for DeX.
@@MRPtech HI my s10 plus paired with the hub and brand new ivanky hdmi 2.0 sadly does not support 3440 x 1440 resolution, my monitor is Viewsonic vg3448, the best I get is 1080p, I have tried 3 hdmi cables
Would you say this is the best alternative if you want Dex with or without power adapter? Is it possible that the 5 in 1 version of the PORTABLE Ugreen USB-C Hub you reviewed can actually do Dex without power adapter (unlike the 9 in 1 version you reviewed)?
Some USB-C hubs can get DeX output without power. Resolution will be limited to 1080p Big problem is that no all HUBS are the same. Even from same manufacturer with same model number. End result will differ depending on HUB, mobile device, OS version. What might work today i can't guarantee it will work tomorrow.
I have a very similar ugreen hub with 3 usb and 1 hdmi. there shouldn't be rattle inside. I use it and with note 10 and with my laptop. and I found some limitations. My monitor is 144hz 1440p 16:9 and with type c connection it can only be 120hz or 100hz with FreeSync. If I connect the monitor directly to hdmi in the laptop all ok and I have 144hz. maybe these hubs supported some steps (30,60,120hz eg) or something else. but with 4k 60hz its work.
tbh i don't care if note 9 don't give me 1440p, still a bit strange. After recording that video i have discovered that resolution will change depending on HDMI cable o.O? I have posted my findings on r/SamsungDeX www.reddit.com/r/SamsungDex/comments/huizmm/mystery_of_1440p_oo/?
Hmmm, interesting ... could be. will try to post something on r/SamsungDeX to get everyones input on this. if majority of users get's only 1080 with exynos, than this is a reason why.
Nice video! Thanks for the info and congratulations for your channel. Quick question: if I had to choose this USB hub, very interesting connectivity wise, but needed to plug in sound too, is a 3,5mm to USB dongle going to work plugged in one of the hubs USB ports? Any chance it will with clear and delay free audio?? Thanks in advance!!
Thank you for your comment, i do appreciate. If USB-C hub has headphone jack - it will work with any plugged in headphones with no problem. One thing to note - so far i haven't came across USB-C hub that support Audio-IN. It will support Audio-IN on windows, but if you will connect that HUB to DeX. only Audio-OUT. USB audio dongles will work fine. i haven't noticed any delay. One of the r/SamsungDeX members done a review about UGreen USB to audio dongle review: bit.ly/2Exg2j7 Worked find with DeX for him
hi, you said you use dex 8 to 9 hours, is your device plug in to power source in that long time? if yes isn't it bad for the battery to be plug in for so long? I hope you notice my question sir. because I have the samsung multi adapter 2020, and everytime I remove the charger when my battery is 100% it was closing the dex.
Last year (2020) due to what is happening in the world in March i've moved to work from home. DeX was my work computer for around 6 - 7 months, before i had to go back to Windows. Each work day i had Tab S6 always connected to power. So every day Mon to Fri 8 hours a day for work and then couple hours after. After all these months of constant use of DeX and Tab S6 always plugged in for power i haven't noticed any problems with battery. It feels like the day i got that tablet. We had similar discussion in r/SamsungDeX www.reddit.com/r/SamsungDex/comments/hpf4gu/does_it_hurt_the_battery_having_the_phone_always/
@@MRPtech, thank you so much for your response sir. last question sir, is it ok if I don't exit dex properly like clicking the exit dex on the bottom left corner then just unplug the cord/cable?
This USB-C Hub should work with Tab S7 FE to trigger DeX. One thing please note that end result could be different between devices and Android versions. In another words UGREEN hub can work differently with your setup compared to mine.
Quick update: I tried different cables. Unfortunately didn't work. The problem is most probably something about my monitor 'cause the issue persists even when I use Dex thru the notebook. Anyhow, thanks for your kindness and help!
Hi MRP, hope you can answer my question. I have a s7+ tablet. My problem is that when I connect my 4tb hard drive direct to the tablet via OTG, it can read the hard drive, but if I use a type C USB Hub and then plug the hard drive on it, it cannot be detected or cannot be read. Hope you can help me.
Thanks Sir for this wonderful review. The only thing I was curious about was the model. I bought a Ugreen hub model CM 179. Is it the same that your review was about or is it completely different?
I have to eat crow since my original comment. Although the hub charges my phone well, it does not charge my portable monitor, which receives both data and power thru a sigle Type-C port. In short, the hub doesn't do what I need it to do most.
