Got asked about using the 2 way radio and just thought I'd share what little I could about it.

29 is used on the coast rd because in spots you'll get interference from 40 that is ran along the new England. Swap 29 for 40 after the PH rd and coming into Brisbane if nth bnd.

Good one Shane , hell I been using CB since around 1975 , the first was a Tandy 27Mhz 23 channel AM , , then in the 1980'S I had a Johnson Viking SSB with 4 added switches , go up half a channel or between channels.. ie between ch 7 and 8 (27.055) was a 20 Kc gap so could go to 27.045 , also had a 100w Linear in the truck , that put out some watts across the Barkley Hwy.

G'day Shane, Mate we travel the Outback & a bit of coastal stuff & we run 3 Three UHF radios, CH 40, CH 29 & the third on scan, we also run an old school CB just for shits & giggles' Probably our most important bit of kit is a Scanner so we can listen in to the Bush fire brigade & some others, this was due to the poor buggers that got caught in the WA fires a few years back if you remember that long ago, RIP. WE also run multiple DBI antennas to cope with differing terrain etc. Must say we have never heard of the caravans using CH 18, might be a Easter state thing mate.

Everyone kept raving on, you need a CB you need a CB, a complete waste of monies, we went on our Big Lap, NSW, Vic, SA, NT, WA, SA, Vic, NSW, the only time we spoke to a truckie was in SA at Coober Pedy when the missus asked the road-train hauler to slow down for a pic, not only did he slow down but STOPPED, got out and had a chinwag with us, showed us around his rig, talked about weights, speeds, idiots on the roads, close calls, shared a coldie (Coke) told him where we come from, where we're going took a few pics and watched him start & move his train In all of the thousands of klms only used twice, the other time was in WA when we came up behind an unusual vehicle, never seen one like it before, I can still picture it in my mind, baked in yellow and he transports blood in a refrigerated truck, told us to come around On a lighter note, arriving at Kalbarri in WA, noticed a police patrol car booking a caravanner, after he finished they both came over and had another chinwag, we said,, You are the first coppers we've seen since leaving Taree in May 2017. You're kidding, nope, all this way, your the first, we were wondering if you guys were a myth, you'd think there be cops between Alice & Darwin, nope, none there either, got some hot tips on places to visit as we farewelled them

You and CB Radio Etiquette, I almost fell out of my seat. "Hooliganism" and not "Etiquette" is the word you're looking for. "Breaker, Breaker".... you break all the rules. They are looking for you, all over CB Radio .. they just can't PIN YOU DOWN, because you never reveal your 10-20. But, at some point, they'll triangulate your signal, and find you, and rip out your etiquette lacking vocal cords. **They won't find etiquette, but they will find a hooligan's vocal cords.** And mate, if your tattoos displeases them, they'll rip your arms off aswell. It is required by CB Radio Etiquette, because tattoos violate radio etiquette. 10-35: Lay low, and cover your arms. Go on the lamb if you have to.

'She' was a squelching and belching all over the airwaves just like a women and she was. Was that you? I have my suspicions. Damn good disguise impersonating a women truck driver.
