Another great video that somehow I missed watching earlier! Greetings from fire-ravaged Greece ( August 14th, 2021). This surely put a dumper on some plans I had for off-roading; but, plans do change.
Great video. I’m fairly sure y’all were the ones we were talking to coming down Dickey Bell and off the trailhead and you asked us for some pointers. You’d definitely want a little more protection if you ever go to the right on the top side because it is not forgiving to the sides or diffs. Also, if you didn’t do it last time, I recommend Daniel Ledge if you’re ever back out this way. You should be able to make everything other than the big rock face but most of us consider it the most challenging trail out there.
Hey Troy! Thanks for Checking in, that was us on the trailhead. Yep that right side looked tough and I wasn't sure we could handle Daniel. Stayed away. Thanks for watching!
Well this definitely gives me more confidence with my 99 WJ on 31 and a half Generals and a 4 inch lift. More was worried about clearance I've done all the trails but Dickey Bell and Daniel. Could only do half of Dutch John had to turn around at the incline.
I've been following your page for a few months after I bought a 2019 GC Trailhawk last year. I was excited to see you travel to the Uwharrie National Forest. I grew up about 30 miles east of there (Moore Co.) and it was my first off road experience on a real trail in my CJ5. Although I live in Charlotte now, I am thinking about taking my latest Jeep out that way with family in tow. Curious what town you stayed or camped near while there. Not to many towns around those parts.... ha.
Hey there! We stayed at arrowhead campground it’s actually in Uwharrie National Forest and just a few minutes from the trails. There is camping information on the Uwharrie National Forest website. How they helps! Thanks for watching!
Love to see the WK2 getting put to use, Brad! This platform really is impressive on technical trails, even with that IRS. Its a real shame that the aftermarket hasn't caught up with the following that the WK2 has gotten. And a bigger shame the amount of overlanding tax added to the few parts available! Keep up the good work and let me know if you're ever in the Louisiana area so we can go wheeling!
Another great video y’all. Kids did a great job recording, looks as good as all the other videos you guys have. Looking forward to hitting the trails with y’all at Bridgeport!
Thanks I'll Let them Know! Also did you sign up for the trip on our website? There isn't a cost on our end (there is to go to the park) It's just a way for us to keep track of everyone coming and make sure the meet up times and details get to everyone. Thanks! Look forward to meeting up.
@@ProdigalOverland Agreed, I wanted to but its been a bit busy. Peter's Mill actually has some pretty challenging ATV trails (off the main stretch). I made it in my WK2. VA is home so there's great places to camp out near the trails also.
Awesome video!! Those bumper issues are annoying, I eventually settled for the Chiefs rear bumper guard and corner protectors. Works great. Thou, I only have two bolts per corner protector (Didnt want to take off rear bumper), but they still work like a champ!!
Oddly enough your are in my neck of the woods apparently, and I am on my way nearer to Texas! Really glad to see the WK2 on that trail... I have wondered more than once if I should chance it in my trailhawk. Know I know I should. 👍
Interesting trail Brad, think I'll put that on my list. I did Imogene & ophir pass a few weeks ago, it was awesome! A Wrangler dude confessed to me that he was wondering "is that guy really running his GC up this?"LoL. Love the vid as usual, sweet!
sheldon C not sure. I’ll have to check. It’s more that I broke just about everything holding it on at this point. I just keep putting band aids on it till I get something better.
It’s not could it handle it I think it’s more of could you handle it, yes you could make it through the trail (assuming you have some experience off-roading) but your probably going to come out with some battle scars
Thanks for all the great videos. Just bought my first ever brand new car which happens to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (with the V8 of course). I have only had it a month so I am suffering from new car-itis and will be keeping it on pavement for at least a year but will definitely be hitting the trails with it in the future. If you come across a good rear bumper product for these Jeeps please let us all know what it is. Not a lot of aftermarket choices for us WK2 owners these days but I am hoping that changes in the next year or so.
Im just up the road filming at the NC zoo for Nat Geo. Was thinking about heading to Uwharrie this weekend with my Pro4x Xterra and exploring around a bit.
LOVED my trip to Uhwarrie a few years ago. I posted a commend on your Gobi rack review but since this is a newer video I wanted to see how you have liked the Jeep since you have owned it? I'm looking at a new SUV to replace my 2003 Montero which has been fantastic, just looking for something newer. The Trailhawk hasn't been on my radar really as I've been looking at 4runners, Land rovers and GX460. Any real issues with the jeep as far as mechanical stuff goes? I would look for a CPO for sure. What engine do you have in yours? Thanks
We have been very happy with it so far. The only thing that we have had an issue with was the air suspension. It was acting up but was serviced for free with our extended warranty through MOPAR. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. It's been great since that time. Overall I would definitely recommend. We have the 5.7 hemi. I think the GC has been overlooked for what it is capable of. Thanks for watching!
Prodigal Overland yeah I would for sure try to find a CPO one or one through carmax than had the extended warrenty. That’s really the only thing that would concern me is the air ride failing. I would also prob go for the V8 for the power and sound unless I could find a turbo diesel if they had good reviews. How’s the comfort on long drives? And what are some good places to look for aftermarket sliders and accessories
We skipped Peters mill Run. We did add the transmission plate or sump protection plate yet. But we did add the rails and the lower front guard. We plan on the extra plates soon!
@@ProdigalOverland Peter's Mill was a great for stock guys. I'm in a Summit, so that means no armor and the front fascia is a little lower, and doesn't come off so easy. However, made it through no problems. Glad to hear you'll be headed home in September, I'm doing the same in November/December. I miss Texas
What trails in the Dallas area? Bridgeport? If so , I would like to meet up, I’m in a 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk with lift and bigger tires. Let me know. Thanks, good video.
Yes we are heading to Bridgeport. If you head over to our website ( www.prodigaloverland.com) there is a trip section. You can sign up and get the details. Hope to see you in Texas!
Hey man nice videos you got there. Maybe you can help me out, I got a 14' GC Limited 30k miles on the clock, it sometimes hard shifts between 1st and 2nd gear at low speeds, any idea how to fix it?
