Dear Parichaya, thanks for telling the information of Mahakaleshwara temple of Ujjain. Mahalaleshwara Jyothir linga is a hindu temple dedicated to lord Shiva. It is located in the ancient city of Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh ( MP) on the banks of river Kshipra. Old name of Ujjain was Avanthika. Lord Shiva is in the linga form and it is believed to be Swayambhu linga deriving the currents of power from a Shakthi Devatha. As per Shiva purana, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu argues who is the best god in this creation. To test them Shiva came as endless pillar of light, the Jyothir linga, Lord Vishnu and Brahma decide to travel along the pillar downwards and upwards respectively, to find the end of the light. Brahma lied that he had found the end, while Vishnu was defeated. It is believed that like this light, shiva appeared in this place and became a Jyothir linga of India. This symbolizes the infinite nature of Shiva. On the day of Maha Shivarathri, a huge fair ( Jaathre in Kannada) is held near the temple and worship goes on through out the night. The temple complex was destroyed by Sultan Iltutmish during his raid of Ujjain in the year 1234- 1235. The Jyothir linga was dismantled and believed to be thrown into a near by ' Koti teertha Kunda' ( a pond neighbouring the temple) with the Jaladhari ( a structure supported to the Lingam) stolen during the invasion. Thanks for giving special information that our Lord Krishna studied here at Guru Sandipni Ashram. It is true. Again you gave Wrong information to all. I.e. you told Bhoo Madhya Rekha ( Equator in English) is passing through this temple and it is centre point of the world. It is wrong. Equator latitude does not pass in India only. Our country India lies in Northern Hemisphere. But Tropic of cancer ( Karkha reka in Kannada) 23.5 °North latitude passes in India. It is in the place called Shajapur [23.43° North latitude] (very near to Bhopal) in Madhya Pradesh. It is not in Ujjain. Distance between Shajapur and Ujjain is approximately 70 kms. You told it is the one and only Shiva temple facing south and has name Dakshina Moorthy Eshwara temple. It is wrong. In Bengaluru one temple named Dakshina Nandi teertha temple is there. Here also Shiva is faced in South direction only. Speciality of this temple is that Nandi ( Shiva Vahana) does Jala Abhishekam throughout 365× 24 days for Shiva. So the name is Dakshina Nandi teertha. This place is located in Malleshwaram opposite to Lakshmi Narasimha temple. You told only about Vikrama Raja in this video. It is true, But you forgot to mention that Vikrama Raja was affected by Shani Bhagwan here. This city is also famous Shani Bhagwan also ( when Vikrama Raja was ruling Ujjain). Likewise Bhoja Raja has ruled this city. You didn't mention any point about him. Bhoja Raja had many Sanskrit pandits in his court such as Kalidasa, Bana, Dindima etc. This temple is related and fully dedicated to Mesha Raashi of all 12 Jyothir linga of India. Present structure ( 5 storeyed temple) was built by Maratha General Ranoji Shinde in 1734 C.E. presently temple is maintained under the colllectorarte office of Ujjain District. In this place many Dharmashalas and Ramanuja koota rooms are there to stay. In Dwaparayuga, when Kamsa tried to kill Maya Durga, she went on the air by telling that Sri Krishna won in Ucccha Swara. So this city is named as Ujjain. Here Sri Krishna temple with all other Devathas are also there. Gomathi river also flows near Ujjain. Gomathi kunda built by Sri Krishna to his Guru is found in Sandipini Ashram till now. Other old names of Ujjain are Amaravathi , Kumudvathi, Kootasthali, Padmavathi nagar etc.
