Max White Hi Max and thanks for your great comment. Obviously confined spaces don't bother us but I have seen people get quite panicky in tight spots - caving certainly isn't for everyone. Under our oversuits we usually wear fleece onesies. This material drains very quickly and holds on to very little water. This small amount of water quickly warms up to body temperature and the oversuit prevents evaporation. As long as we keep moving we do stay quite warm. Fleece is a great material. Cavers never wear wool or cotton as these materials do hold a lot of water and do not drain efficiently. I also have a neofleece which I sometimes wear under the oversuit. This is a shortie wetsuit with fleece lower arms and legs. If the caves are very wet for a long time we wear full one-piece wetsuits. No more caving for me now until after Christmas. Tony Salusbury Thanks again. I'm a big fan of the chest harness. The stuff in Peak Cavern was taken using the chesty mount. Personally I dislike headcam footage in caves, the camera moves about far too much and it makes me feel seasick. I often mount the GoPro on a small gorillapod and use it as a fixed camera, taking advantage of the wide angle lens.

Steven Johnson Hi Steven. I use 2 cameras - a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition and a Panasonic WA10 waterproof camcorder. I attempt to balance the colour between the 2 cameras when editing. The trick to getting good underground video is to have very good lights. 4 of us have Scurions and we also use 160 LED array panels for back-lighting. I also throw away the complete rubbish. Most of what I take never makes it as far as RU-vid.

Keith Edwards Nice... I haven't tried the more recent GoPros, it looks like they have stepped up their low-light response considerably from the earlier ones. Now I need to schedule a caving trip there :-)

Steven Johnson When I did my research it seemed that the Black Edition did have better low light capability. If you do come over then you will have to get in touch.

Join a caving club.

As Keith says contacting your local caving club is a good start. Not sure if it's applicable to you, but many universities have caving clubs which is how a lot of people start. If you're British here's a list of caving clubs. I've also added a link to the BCRA site. british-caving.org.uk/about-bca/caving-clubs/ www.bcra.org.uk/ As far as equipment is concerned you may be able to borrow or hire some to start with, but the first most people get are wellies, kneepads and wetsocks (having freezing cold wet feet is miserable) then build up from there with stuff like a light, helmet, underfleece and oversuit. Caving's a pretty cheap outdoor pursuit unless you go on to take up cave diving. The main caving areas are the Mendips in Somerset, Brecon Beacons;s in S.Wales, The Peak District in Derbyshire and The Yorkshire Dales. There are a few other minor areas, but those are the main ones. Personally I think Burrington Combe in the Mendips is the best place for novice trips, but every area has caves appropriate for beginners. If you live elsewhere in the world most Western countries have similar caving associations. Unfortunately caving isn't an option at present with Covid, but hopefully in time things will return to normal. Hope that's helpful.

Blood_Angel IX Hi. the boxes that appear from time to time throughout this video are used to transport cameras, camcorders, flash guns, tripods and lighting which of course are needed to make the videos.

@Keith Edwards, thanks for that. I just find it all fascinating. Some of those formations in the caves are absolutely stunning! It gets my heart racing and I'm just watching it on RU-vid. I'm slowly getting through all your videos. Keep up the good work my friend...
