There really is nothing quite like seeing ones own home area through the eyes of visitors. Excited for you to get to Ireland though, we did the Ring of Kerry on our vfr years ago. It is magical! There is an awesome campsite on the ourskirts of a little town called Cahirsiveen. The site was called Mortimers, right on the water, overlooking an island called Valencia. There were completely impromptu jam sessions each night we were there, just made up or musicians who visited. Absolutely glorious!!!

Yeah it's been a great experience coming home and being a visitor this time, something we should have done a long time ago. In this weeks episodes we will be making our way to Ireland and the ring of Kerry was a fantastic day! That campsite sounds great and the live music in Ireland is something else. Gad to hear you enjoyed your time there too 😊

I found Cheddar Gorge to be a bit of an anticlimax having heard so much about it. I guess I had a false impression of what to expect and once I completed it, I was like "Is that it?"

Yeah to be honest we envisioned a bit more than a 4 minuet section of road, however it was impressive and was kind of on our route so we are glad we went. Porlock Hill was notorious in the early days of motoring due to its very steep climb and descent. Vehicles only had drum brakes, without a servo assist, consequently many vehicles, mainly loaded lorries suffered brake failure. To avoid catastrophe gravel escape roads were installed. Did you not have a Cornish Pastie whilst in Cornwall?
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily 25 дней назад
That must have been scary with drum brakes!! Once had a go of an old MZ with drum brakes .....not quite what i was expecting lol. We didn't actually see Porlock Hilll itself as we took the scenic toll road around the coast.

Fabulous video Sean and Emily! I'm surprised that you have not heard of a lot of these places down here in the South West. Lynmouth, Porlock and Cheddar Gorge are beautiful. And Avebury is much nicer than Stonehenge. I live in Shaftesbury, Dorset, nearby. This ancient Saxon hilltop town has one of the most famous streets in the UK, 'Gold Hill' Surely you have heard of that? It was made famous by Sir Ridley Scott in 1973 at the start of his movie career, with his famous Hovis bread advert. Then along came Alien, and Gladiator. I was in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago for another family funeral. Where are you 2 from? Cheers! 😊

Hi, well we both left the UK at a relatively young age so didn't really have the chance to explore the UK as much as we should have done. We are from North Wales but live in Switzerland so the purpose of this trip was to try and see as much of our home country as we could in 4 weeks. It's been a wonderful trip and we still have lots more videos to add to this series. 😎👍

That was quite a day of riding, the mileage didn’t seem excessive but the roads aren’t conducive to getting far, quickly, a bit like up in the Scottish Highlands where it can take you ages to cover very little mileage. That brought back many fond memories of my trip to Cornwall, Devon and of course the lovely Cheddar Gorge. 👍👍
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily Месяц назад
Yeah it was a big day for sure and as you say not massive distances but everywhere did take a lot longer than we thought it would, this day was 300 miles but at speeds of 60 (realistically 50 with traffic) and numerous stops it sure took time. Was really nice to return to this area after many years. Glad you enjoyed it.

You pair are so jammy!! I have ridden and driven that gorge a fair few times, 90% of it in the rain. You had great weather. I was sceptical about this UK series, after watching how amazing Corsica was, but this little island of ours isn’t looking to bad. Keep up the amazing work!!
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily Месяц назад
Yeah agree with you there 😁 We chose to do this trip in May as it’s statistically the driest month in the UK but we never thought we would get blue skies and sunny day! …..just wait and see what weather we got in Ireland and Scotland 😁 Yeah it could have quite a contrast with the Corsica tour but so far some of the landscapes in the UK have been incredible and the best is yet to come. Glad the weather was so kind to you in Cornwall but, of all the beautiful North Cornwall coastal places you could have visited you went to the two ‘tourist traps’ of Newquay & Bude! 😆 Still the Atlantic Highway A39 is a great biking road up through North Cornwall and North Devon, one of my favourite days out on the bike, outside of the main tourist season that is! Lol Still lovely to see our beautiful countryside through the eyes of visitors and beautifully filmed as ever 👍
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily Месяц назад
Yeah blessed with the weather, again if we had spent all our time searching out the small coastal locations we would have had no time for Ireland and Scotland. We actually went to Newquay as it was somewhere i remember family holidays so it was a special place to me. Agreed Bude could have been skipped but was on our route 😄. Yeah the A39 was a great road so no regrets there and it was quite. Glad you are enjoying the Videos and thanks for you comments.

Hey, don't knock Booth, some people are easily pleased🙈🙊🙉. Again good ride guys, but I would have taken the M48 to the other 'old' bridge across to Wales as it crosses the peninsula of Beachley Point which is where the rivers Severn and Wye come together. It rejoins the M4 on the other side. The Army Apprentice College Chepstow used to be on the peninsula and the bridge was built over it and was opened by our late Queen in '66. I started my army career at the College in '67 at the age of 15, making many freinds for life. Atm there's still a barracks there but who knows how much longer. On the upside , I had to laugh Sean when Emily gave you a 'Gibbs' on the bike 😂🤣
@SeanandEmily

Haha 😂 perhaps of it was our first destination of the day we might have been more appreciative 😂. Thanks! Yeah you are right the M48 would have been better. @@SeanandEmily Good morning, yes! I quickly read the title and remembered that I went to stay with a friend in Bristol years ago….. I remember that area as being stupendously boring to drive about in, came through Bridgewater and wound up in the gorge. My apologies if I have over reacted as you wouldn’t have known the context!!!

You've spent too long in Europe; your pronunciation of English place names has totally gone to pot! And fancy dismissing Boode on the basis of a drive-by viewing when you didn't even get off the bike 🤦‍♂
