People complaining that he's too dull and boring. A charismatic politician is the last thing this country need. We've had enough of the toxic spectacle and entertainment. This is exactly what we need, a boring government, no showmanship just doing the job exactly as it needs to.

I didn't vote for Labour, but I'm nonetheless relieved that the UK turned the page on populism. "Boring" grown up politics is what we've needed so badly.

I feel like I am watching a boring - normal leader from the 90s and I like it.

starmer doesn't have the same charisma as other politicians, and his speeches aren't going to dazzle anyone, but he is a man who started from the bottom and worked hard to reach the top. we may be pleasantly surprised by his achievements as PM over the next 5 years.

He's much easier to listen to than the previous PM. He sounds genuine.

A "changed" Labour Party are weasel words. If he means "change",what he is actually saying is changed the version from New Labour WMD v1.0 to New Labour WMD v2.0.

This is what a leader is supposed to sound like. What a breath of fresh air.

Keir Starmer has always seemed like a boring guy. But in all honesty, we need someone like him during these times. He seems diligent, trustworthy, and conscientious. I really hope he can succeed in his role. No showmanship… just cracking on with the job. It’s about time!

I was highly skeptical of Keir's leading ability during the election but his first news conference has put me at ease. "Turn our backs on tribal politics and simply picking issues we want to fight", I've been wanting this for years. It's very early into Keir's reign as PM but I feel he's going to do a good job. Total 180 to how I felt last week.

It actually sounds like our new Prime minister is a well balanced human, this is a real novelty.

A speech that is clear, that we can all understand. Already this is a night and day improvement. I'm also impressed with the roadmap he's laying out. Lots of confidence in this guy and his team. What a difference!

He was asked questions such as "what are you actually going to change?" And yet he didn't provided any particular decisions. The only thing he said that it will be for the good of the people, not his party. But haven't we heard this from the last 30 PMs or so? Although he looks different from Rishi and he uses a different form, everything seems to stay the same. I hope I am wrong.

For the first time ever in my life, I actually believe in the prime minister. I never thought I would feel I could trust in a politician, but Sir Keir Starmer is clearly serious about what he wants to deliver and is determined to get it right. Finally an actual adult leading our country!

No matter who’s in the drivers seat they look after themselves first.

A guy who basically had no manifesto and didn't tell anyone what he was going to do other than not increase tax for "working people".

14 minutes of talk and I did not hear one single actionable thing... 14 minutes of repeating the word "change" without saying anything concrete at all. I challenge everyone who voted him to tell me exactly what he is going to do, based on what he has said during this conference.

I'm no starmer fan...not at all, but have to applaud the appointment of James Timpson as Minister for Prisons. Someone who is brave, bold and actually knows/has experience in what he's being appointed to do. I know James will change things- that what he does, but have no clue what other strategies they are going to employ as government...literally not telling us anything definitive yet.

I know virtually nothing about this guy, but he seems sane at least...

What a stark contrast to all the spin, gaslighting, and lies of the self-servative Tory Prime Ministers! Lovely to see Keir Starmer more relaxed and being himself. I'm so happy and proud that we've finally got a decent, grown-up, caring, professional, and conscientious human rights lawyer as our Prime Minister. Well done everyone who voted Labour, or voted tactically to get the Tories out. Hopefully the Tories will go the way of the Dodo at the next election.

Hope the new PM won’t follow US instructions on countering China but build a constructive relationship with one another. It’s not a US led world anymore, embrace a multi polar world and do the right things.

KS says his top priority is economic improvement, and a better situation for every British citizen. I certainly hope he achieves his objective. So what is the biggest problem that needs to be addressed????? Illegal Immigration, the cost of housing, cultural battles?. He says Country First, Party Second! nice line, but what does that actually mean? Do some people, who, have to shelf their objectives because it would mean "me first", "Country next". I wish KS well, he has a big job, and many challenges. Lastly, he talks about Mandate???? Only 20% of eligble voters, voted for Labour. Is that a clear Mandate???? I don't think so.

Things already feel so different under Sir Keir. I believe that better things are to come and I trust that he will deliver on his promises.

Given the limited financial sources the govt now have, they may have to review the UK’s commitment and role in the international arena vs-a-via domestic priorities to avoid raising more taxes.

Actions speak louder than words, particularly in politics, The electorate will judge you in 5 years or less.
