John Merrill did a similar walk in I think the eighties, he walked in total 7200 miles, cannot remember now how long it took him but it was a while, starting off from London he walked to Brighton and then followed the coast in a Anti-clockwork direction, when he got to Scotland he suffered some sort of foot trauma which slowed him down somewhat, he used to own a outdoor shop in King St Bakewell, BBC Radio followed his journey/progress each week, living in West Bromwich I used to listen to the program on a Grundig Radio with a 5 ft antenna, I met him once when he came to a local scout group to give a talk, some time later he wrote a book about his adventure entitled “ Turn right at Land End “, this excellent video rekindled memories of that walk
What an amazing accomplishment, your commitment, sense of adventure and determination is a credit to you and your precious puppy. How inspiring, best of luck and thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much fot suh an enjoyable clip. I am going to walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats next year and your walk around the UK has inspired me even more.
There are a few coastal walkers that say they're walking the coast of the UK when in fact actually mean they're walking the coast of Great Britain. I assumed the same was true of Chris until he mentioned Northern Island. So the statement is very informative.
Chris started with a tenner in his pocket. Lived by scavenging and the kindness of strangers who saw that he was doing it for an armed forces charity and helped him out.
If this was on New lives in the wild I'm struggling to believe it . With a new baby . In the UK ? When it's not raining it's pouring down and cold and windy. The baby needs things , Tax insurance and fuel . Where do you MOT and service the van . What happens when you brake down in the rain ? You need an address to have your paperwork sent to . I know travelers have an address but your not a traveller, your a man with a wife and child. Also medical needs for the baby and yourself? Who pays your stamp or are you on the social? I ask these questions as I to was homeless and never been so cold in my life , this was 45 years ago and couldn't get any support and even put myself in prison so I could at least get food and Clean clothes. No you have more support than you make out as I've watched New lives in the wild and it's not all as it seems . Anyway good luck .
Its true? Plenty of projections show that ice caps are melting, its not just a political trend its something from nasa and 99% of scientists agree, but sure dismiss it as a political trend.
@d Because scintists where wrong on certain things it makes this wrong, but even on this casse their is no denail on ice caps melting, greenlands has been melting rapidly. This isn't deniable. Steven crowder for example just snipped one bit of the graph presented but failed to see the rest of it, showing just how bad the trends where, the ice caps are melting. The scentists weren't wrong on this.
@d global religion, what. The problem isn't described as being an individual thing but an economic systematic thing, I don't eat meat which helps my carboon foot print sure, but to make legitimate change it needs to be systematic in the way we treat the environment. I don't know what ya going on about now, you can't actually be concerned with a 'global religion' even though abrhamhic faiths have been trying to establish this by killing anyone that dissagrees with them?
