I sub'd after watching the Black Mamba, then the Edge Bright Zonker, now this one to see how you did it. Awesome use of a material that's been around for quite awhile. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks!
@@UkFlyFisher I am good Gareth. Nice watching your channel grow. Well deserved. I have spent a lot of my time studying Undertow. Don't burn your self out and take care. Shaun.
@@UkFlyFisher I got everything except bead eyes have to make do with a single tungsten bead until I can get some. What size of chain do you use 3 or 4 mm?
Seen some seriously good fish caught on this pattern, great tips in the tying sequence of the fly, never really given the marabou a thought before with tail and wing , A pattern I’m certainly going to experiment at the vice with 🎣
@@UkFlyFisher What I tend to do is hire a boat because it gives you more options. Normal set up for me is an 8 wt 10 ft rod . The fish do hit hard and that time of year you could catch with a variety of methods. If it’s of help let me know around a week before you are looking to go and I can fill you in on what’s happening with methods and areas. You can also keep in touch yourself on the Grafham weekly fishing reports which are pretty detailed regarding catching areas etc. I’ll send a link in a minute. Steve
Hi Gareth. I ordered the incredible cat fly back in September but haven’t received them yet. Perhaps you’ve been very busy. Could you let me know if they are on their way. Derick…Edinburgh. Many thanks.
Hi Derick, it's been a mad year and due to everything, I am slightly behind. To top it all off me and my youngest now both have covid. Flies will be with you asap with a few extras to make up for the delays. Kind regards and Happy Christmas. Gareth
Have u tried using chartreuse pseudo material on the body instead if the edge bright material. Fl fire orange would still show through also. Just a thought
Hi, yes but the edge bright is far more consistent. You’ll also notice with fakebook and Instagram comments that this fly will catch you the bigger fish on waters some that have been there for quite some time avoiding capture. It's worth noting that international Rhys Wadley now has it as his second-best lure in a very short time period after he and Ben Beckwith visited Sportfish lake. Ben seemed to catch more and bigger fish and after finding out what he was catching on Rhys went home and tied a few up and hasn’t looked back. So in short if you like having a wider selection of flies take both patterns, if you prefer having a smaller selection and want to take the most consistent and reliable fly, this would be your choice. Hope that helps. Kind regards. Gareth
Hi Gareth Have really enjoyed watching all your video’s. I decided to have a go at tying some of your flies………I have got the hooks for “the Black Mamba “which are the Fulling Mill 35085 nymph hooks… Have watched you tie “The Incredible Cat”……….You say your using “the Short Shank Special” from Elite flies but do not say what size hook This is…. I take it this is a different hook as opposed to the used for The Black Mamba Fly. Apologies for asking but have not tied flies for some time and I would like to be sure I am using the Correct Hook/Size for The Incredible Cat Fly. Thanking you……Keep the video’s coming …..I really enjoy watching them………Harry 👍👍
Hi Harry, Elite Flies only do the size 10 I believe as it's a specially designed hook for lures. You can find them on eBay by searching " Elite Flies Short Shank Special". Made from German Steel, Strong as an ox and last a lifetime. Most of my lures are tied on these hooks. I hope that helps and thank you for your support.
@@UkFlyFisher Hi Gareth Many thanks for your swift reply………You have cleared up the question as to which hook to use . Your help is much appreciated…..I will now order the hooks and I look forward to tying/using the flies. Best wishes and all the best for 2022……Thank you………..Harry…👍👍
You could always try trimmed organza. Buy white, use a permanent neon marker and colour it, then cut a tapered piece off and wrap it. Not exactly the same but it is close. However like he said, if they are working bite the bullet and tie six, should keep you for a bit.
My best flies tend to sell out as soon as I list them. If they are out of stock email info@ukflyfisher.com and I'll set up a custom order for you. All the best. Gareth
Chain bead eyes. We would fish this on a sink tip or intermediate line as it works best in the 2 to 8-foot column of the water and we want to be adding movement.
@@stevenmichaellewis5720 Unfortunately, I have high demands, as you cant get the same quality with mass-produced flies. I also test the flies, allowing me to match the knowledge and techniques required to help you catch more fish. As I tie to order this means I don't have to push " the killer fly " as I never have surplus stock to shift, which seems to be a big motivator in other suppliers. Thank you for your order and I look forward to your feedback on the flies.
@@UkFlyFisher thanks for the incredible cat fly's i used them at Garnffrwd Park big well trout fishery and the papermill and a few other places and i was NOT disappointed really enjoyed using these fly's so many follows and catches on these many thanks ;-)
