The EU are going to give the profits from those frozen Russian funds to Ukraine It may not be as good as giving them straight to Ukraine wholesale, but it's much easier to get through than taking the step of confiscating and re-allocating those frozen state funds, which is legally and reputationally fraught
Freezing those assets of the Central Bank of the RF or transferring the profits of it is also legally and reputationally very weak. The RF will for sure legally challenge it.
the host seem pretty anti European. I know they come from pretty far with regards to defense, but Europe has consistently surprised us in a good way and lately usa is the disappointing one. the current delay in aid could hurt it's reputation as an ally and security provider for decades to come. maybe the host is sour about that? for instance in terms of shells Europe moves slowly, disappointingly so, but it will move powerfully. remember that Europe had a lot of 155mm manufacturers, Rheinmetall nammo nexter tchekoslovak group etc
If Europe had done the investments USA did the war would still be on ukraines side rather than Russias Europe didn’t, either out of hubris, laziness, arrogance, or all of the above, America did America has shouldered the burden over most everything in this war except the refugees, and caring for refugees doesn’t win wars just a heads up
