I’m reading in Francis Fukuyama’s book “political order and political decay” how military buildup and wars really enhance the bureaucratic systems in countries and allowed them to prosper governmentally and economically after the wars were over. If this war doesn’t happen, at least it might have the positive effect of strengthening Ukrainian togetherness and determination to keep developing.
That's exactly what I said, everytime economies grow slowly or high inflation happens a reset happens which are wars that decrease the number of populations. i should write a book 🤔
NATO: Every country has a right to self determination and a right to defend itself from aggression from hostile external threats. To be fair, If S/American countries ask Russia or China to set up military bases for security and protection, the US should also respect their choice. 👍

Who cares? They will find out that doing that is very expensive. Russia doesn't have the money. Russian citizens earn around 600 euros per month. Tiny Switzerland is around 4000 swiss francs per month. Stop it. Russia and the nasty chicoms can talk the talk. But can they walk the walk. The US spent trillions occupying Afghanistan and Iraq. Now they have left. Step in and take their place. Those trillions will be coming from your pockets. Either way Russia loses.

Essentially, Russia has ONLY two tools in its tool-set, which it has been really investing in the last two decades: 1) military 2) Gas/Oil pipelines It tries to leverage both to the maximum degree possible. Don't trust these guys. I know Russian and saw Putin's speech online. That is what he said (the troops will return to their bases). Seizing Ukraine is not a problem for Putin. The problem is to feed tens of millions of unemployed and poor pensioners in Ukraine. Putin said he would not tolerate a NATO missile 250 miles from Moscow (Ukraine). NATO is playing with fire here.

Close in ethnic composition, culture, in fact sharing one language, they remain sovereign states with their own interests, with their own foreign policy. But this does not prevent them from the closest integration or allied relations. They have very conditional, transparent borders. And when crossing them, the citizens feels at home. I know many Ukrainians and it's more like "calm before the storm" silence for them... Also there is a factor that Ukraine has been in the hybrid war with Russia for 8 years already, so Ukrainians have developed "mental immunity" to such "war rumors". For European people the idea that a neighbor can come with a gun to their land and start shooting them is absolutely wild, so there is more panic. But in the current situation, only God can save Ukraine really... NATO will not.

Finland hasn’t been in NATO to date and they had ZERO problems with the USSR post-WW2 (or Russia since 1991) thanks to ‘finlandization’ which made it possible for the Finns to become a capitalist country and have close ties with the West. Finland was very smart, realistic, determined and forward-looking back then, when it decided to stay neutral and root out anti-Soviet sentiment. It was a genius move. So hopefully these qualities haven’t gone to waste today. Neutrality is the key for their successful relationship with Russia. Is Ukraine (formerly known as Little Russia) as smart and forward-looking as Finland? I’m afraid it’s not.

Not rocket science here: Ukraine will lay down arms and walk from the massive armies that are positioned to enter their border. This is the choice that will be made - period. (All other perspective is clearly not in order but of chaos)
The ground is soft so wheeled vehicles have to stay on roads. Tanks have to stay near wheeled vehicles to refuel and resupply. The border with Belarus is a swamp that also is not frozen. Ukrainian troops have been fighting Russian separatists for years and are battle ready. I do not agree with your assessment.
Russia annexed a part of ukraine in the recent years, a place called crimea if you didn't know already. Russia is the threat and aggressor here, not ukraine and NATO.
Russia brought 130,000 troops to Ukraine. What does NATO do? Send a few thousand soldiers to neighbouring allies to show their solidarity with them. Rightttt Russia isn’t the messed up one here.

Ukraine should declare itself a neutral state with no ambition to join NATO, and formally declare Crimea as part of Russia, in return for Russia withdrawing troops, and signing a treaty to not hold any further drills near it's borders. The stakes are too high now. Russia won't back down, and neither will NATO, so Ukraine needs to take responsibility for itself and its citizens and take the lead in de-escalation. Putin would rather we all go down together than he going down alone.

Whom Can We Trust If No One Is Trustworthy? One of my favorite quips from Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is when Tom is defined as “a glittering hero…the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” and there were “some that believed that he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.” With these few words, Twain captured the essence of leadership in our world. Those who get to the top are the fiercest, most determined, and most ruthless. Today, the latter quality has become so intense that we can no longer believe our leaders, and certainly not trust them to have our best interest in mind. I am not accusing any leader in particular, or even leaders as a whole. It is simply that in an egoistic world, where people vie to topple one another on their way to the top, the one at the top is clearly the one who trampled over and knocked down more people than anyone else. Concisely, to get to the top in an egoistic world you have to be the biggest egoist. So how do we know whom to trust? We don’t know and we cannot know. All we know is that we are in the dark. In a culture of unhinged selfishness, any conspiracy theory seems reasonable, while truth is nowhere to be found. When every person who says or writes something is trying to promote some hidden agenda, you have no way of knowing who is right, what really happened, or if anything happened at all. The only way to get some clarity in the news and goodwill from our leaders is to say “Enough!” to our current system and build something entirely independent. The guiding principle of such a system should be “information only,” no commentary. Commentary means that information has already been skewed. Information means saying only what happened, as much as possible, not why, and not who is to blame and who we should praise. Concurrently, we must begin a comprehensive process of self-teaching. We have to know not only what is happening, but why we skew and distort everything. In other words, we have to know about human nature and how it inherently presents matters according to its own subjective view, which caters to one’s own interest. To “clear” ourselves from that deformity, we must learn how to rise above our personal interest and develop an equally favorable attitude toward others. This is our only guarantee that our interpretation of things will be even and correct. Once we achieve such an attitude, we will discover that the bad things we see in our world reflect our own, internal wickedness. Our ill-will toward others creates a world where ill-will governs, and so the world is filled with wickedness and cruelty. Therefore, all we need in order to create positive leadership-and to generally eliminate ill-will from the world-is to generate goodwill within us. When we nurture goodwill toward others, we will fill the world with goodwill. As a result, the world will fill with kindness and compassion. By changing ourselves, we will create a world that is opposite from the world we have created through our desires to govern, patronize, and often destroy other people.
I took the time to read your words. You make some very good points. I keep holding on the notion that 95% of the world's people are kind, honest, and open minded. Sadly, our so-called leaders take advantage of this to varying degrees. Some countries are beyond hope, and others are doing pretty dam good. Canada, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Australia and New Zealand have pretty good governments There are others I'm leaving out that are just as good. Stay informed, read multiple views on the same story and issues. Cross reference everything. I know you do this, but some on here don't. They just hear and see what seems to reflect their world view. Anyway - you've already covered this.
