Not only to the US but a treasure and pride to every decent human being in the world. A man of peace and courage to speak the truth is Prof Jeffrey Sachs.
Why do people post empty compliments as you do? Is this how you are trained to think? You act like a courtier of a 18th Century king of France, who were trained as professional ass kissers.
Dr. Sachs is patient and diplomatic; he chooses his words carefully. And he labelled the leadership of the US State Dept. "STUPID." Thank you Dr. Sachs for saying what so many are thinking.
Prof. Jeffries Sachs is not only an economic genius, but also a extraordinary gentlemen who understands the need for diplomacy among nations . In short, Mr. Jeffries Sachs is a giant whose vision is totally monumental God bless you sir. God have mercy 🙏
What he doesn't seem to grasp is that diplomacy is a two way deal . Putin wants a part of Ukraine, and Sachs appears to let him have it. Appeasing a bully never works. Ever
The crucial fact is US neocons will NEVER negotiate with a weaker power or even a peer competitor, but to cut deal with its stronger rivalry. This practice had been repeated numerous times in the past because of the predatory nature derived from colonialism.
We need a Nuremberg style trial for the Neocons. They need to be individually named and shamed. Someone, please nominate Prof Sachs for the Nobel Peace prize.
What is the answer to change this. Terrible system and have a true democracy where our leaders care for their constituents instead of the arms industry , banks, and other powerful corporations?
This channel should be in the million subscribers. Nowadays, being anti-war/pro-peace and having common sense is so unpopular and in some areas, hated. Prof Sachs is/was deeply involved with DC and many leaders of other nations. He has a depth of Knowledge. Proxy war with China should be avoided else it will devastate our economy and the world economy.
What an amazing intellectual Dr Sachs is, isn't he? So far America has still such people of incredible moral reputation, there is still hope that we can avoid a global war.
Indeed! and because there are still people of the caliber of Prof. Sachs in the US, that there is hope the American people may find their way back to sanity -- hopefully sooner than later..
@@neutralitystudiesThis was a good interview thank you I’m personally with Col Douglas Macgregor Ret re this tragedy and American foreign policy in general He’s analysis of this conflict and military history has to my mind has been excellent Alistair Crooke - former British Diplomat is also brilliant. It would be great if you could interview them
@@seanmoran2743 I tried to get in touch with Macgregor but can't reach him. If you have an email address or a way of contacting, could you let me know? You are right that he has been quite spot on. And I'll look into Alistair Crooke. Thanks for the recommendation!
I remember in the 1970's the slogan that propagated in the alternative underground: "If we cannot win against the capitalists from outside, let's infiltrate them from inside and push them off the cliff". I later learned that some proeminent figures of the neocons of the 1980's era were young trotskyste converted to US hegemony, It made sense that they pusched the US to crush their enemy Marxist-Leninist of the Soviet Union. The trotskyste hero Che Guevarra said once that America could be defeated by corrupting it's youth with drugs. And the drug addiction problem has been increasing since that time with all the government policies aiming at increasing the profits of the security industry, And I remember that Marx has envision that Capitalism would collapse when the accumulation of wealth at the top will be so great that there won't be any capacity for the workforce under to sustain the burden of that heavier concentrated wealth. And I've been folloowing the statistics that show that, from the poorest in the 1970's to the bottom middle-class today the real purchasing power of the workers has stopped to follow the increase in wealth of the US economy because a larger and larger portion of that increase in wealth to the capitalist elite. Since the 2000 the US foreign policies are destabilizing more and more of the world regional governance infrastructures with the aim of gaining the financial control over the economies of those regions. Of course the wealthiest of those economies are resisting to the plundering of their domains. That's why we are seeing an increase in US led wars all over the globe that have never achieved the stated goals of bringing back Peace and Properity. Sometime I'm asking myself if it's from a lifetime commitment of those trotskistes that have infiltrated the high level positions of Lackeys of the majority Owners of US Capital. That by Hook and by Crook they are leading them to the Fall of capitalism. In the 1970's they have hook those owners to a dream of a 12.5% constant ROI that could double their capital every 6 years. And since then, they are pushing by crook hairbrained policies that maintain for a short term this 12.5% ROI. But result in economic crisis after a while. And with the capitalist masters hooked to the stuff they pushed for more crackpot policies that could maintain the magic 12.5% ROI. Until the whole world economy reach a tipping point of unsustainability and the collapse of the house of cards of US hegemonic dominance. Then the world will have no choice but to adopt the trotskyste theory of marxist governance of the economy.
This Professor is a genuine genius . Honestly, his truth brilliance wisdom and unbiased teachings ,make him a great World Icon of our time. God bless Prof J.S ❤
If, in June 1940, after the fall of France, Churchill had said the same thing, most of the World including The Soviet Union and possibly even The USA would have sided with Nazi Germany.
This is a good point: neutral pockets can stabilize in regions where different empires clash together. I was born in Switzerland and also there, neutrality is more and more under attack by the analog of neocons here in the US. For the Ukraine, it would have been the best option to stay neutral. Obviously, with NATO entering that state, it made the other side nervous. In an optimal world, everybody would be neutral, look for themselves, have a strong army (as a defense to deter others). Almost always in history, problems start if one side starts to expand and have ambitions to become the only player.
Cannot thank Dr Sachs enough for all unfailing work to bring sanity, thoughtfulness and peace to the world. Very grateful to you for your courage and belief
With these approach from the Biden administration to double down on every front, very soon we will be in the middle of a confrontation that may bring the collapse of the planet. God have mercy 🙏
Prof sach is too respectful of American people. I think at least half of the population support the country's colonialist stamce and foreign interferences. If no Americans are in it, the people in power would have been kiched out already. Members of both parties are complicit.
@hughslevin7120 do you think if they know the truth, they would be more sympathetic to the world and be less pro imperialist and not believe they are exceptional or have manifest destiny?
@@bluemarlin9110 I don't think most Americans need to flatter themselves concerning exceptionality....they get up everyday and face the world the best they can.
I'm happy that Prof. Sachs points out the age-old strategy or technique of "divide and rule." It is to the concept of geopolitics, what nukes are to the concept of grand strategy. The most powerful techique of rule and domination.
What a novel concept to apply common sense and critical thinking skills to the tragic conflict in Ukraine! How unfortunate that someone of Professor Sachs knowledge and stature is swept aside, and instead we have a group of absolute fools formulating and implementing such misguided foreign policy decisions for our country. Further, the ramifications of such reckless behavior, can severely and negatively impact the world. Utterly beyond comprehension that things can be conducted in such a risky and fool hearted manner! Thank you for providing this platform to allow a real statesman to give his views and insights about how to effectively resolve the current Ukraine crisis! You do us all a favor by bringing knowledgeable voices like Professor Sachs center stage , to give his analysis of the current situation. Thank you Pascal for all your efforts to bring forth the truth, from those who actually understand what is going on!
How difficult it is to accept the the whole deepest idea of the Americanism is to be the Greatest Nation forever. Over everything till the end of human existence. Why these war loving, true Americans are in power?
They have no idea what is going on. If they are paying attention they have just been told over and over, that Russia stole their election and handed them Donald Trump, then Russia needlessly started a war. They have no clue who Jefferey Sachs is or any of the other scant people who have been speaking out are or what they are saying because these people are far and few between and are not given a platform other than RU-vid. Stick to blaming the leaders, not the people. People are easily misled. And, Europe is no better. Even though the U.S neocons are the instigators, European leaders are participating and their people are misled too and it is, ultimately, even worse for them to go along with this, so figure that one out.
I can’t find words to describe how incredible Mr Sachs is; he sees clearly through invisible lenses and brings it to a laser sharp focus for ordinary people; his point about entrapment and war among proxies by the USA is so sobering
Mr Sachs thank you for the insight, your knowledge n value is priceless, your frustration n despair is noted n we agree with you but your non stop efforts are needed in these crazy times with the majority of heads stuck in the sand.
Taiwan, the Republic of China, wasn't going to be invaded and China hasn't indicated that it was going to try. China nor the US or NATO could do that invasion today. None have have the amphibious invasion force strength big gun ships for bombardment, landing ships to deliver 100,000's of men, equipment and supplies to hundreds of large, medium and small landing craft to land on beaches which are very limited on Taiwan island with mines and obstacles,, shore artillery, a island 180 by 80 mile mountainous, with a modern 2 million man reserve army trained for 70 years to defend the island. D-Day Normandy was against 150,000 Germans and the battle peaked in August with over 1 million allied soldiers against 600,000 Germans. It took 60,000 US Marines 6 weeks of bloody combat to defeat 22,000 Japanese on 8 sq. mile Iwo Jima after months of bombing and battleship bombardment. 500,000 Marines and US Army over 2 months to defeat 100,000 Japanese on Okinawa. Just the 21 miles of the English Channel has kept the UK safe from invading armies for a thousand years. A made up neocon threat just as made up as appeasement failed to stop Hitler. Nobody had an interest in getting rid of Corporal Hitler then what might you have a German Field Marshal lead Germany? In the continuation of WW1 which was going to happen. Hitler was far from the only German who wanted to avenge the loss of WW1 to say the least!
What a profound analysis with precision, promoting rationalism and peace, which is the crying need of the hour in the world stage of a balanced geo-politics, economic cooperation and prosperity. Idiocracy & rhetoric of Zelensky & coterie has brought havoc and doom for Ukraine. An irreparable mess. Lessons are learnt the hard way, " all that glitters is not gold ". "Someone's food can be another's poison ". Great job !
We see now self appointed online saviours trying to talk people into hedging against the dollar demise by commodity investing. This is not taken out of the blue. Had the U.S played other cards than encouraging war and sanctioning countries the dollar may have remained a preferred trading currency globally. We now see how many consider trading in local currencies so seems the U.S has self inflicted this development by an aggressive conquest of overseas war.
Listening to Sachs, I was reminded of a hot afternoon in North Queensland, when I took the son of a friend to swim in a nearby creek. At one point I said '"No, dont go in there, its cloudy, muddy and you cant see whats there". to which he replied to my astonishment "Thats how I like it, I dont want to know what's there. If I dont know, I am OK with it". this in a place where every other animal and insect is lethally poisonous!! Of such are the leaders of America now, made. It explains everything. Like the dog, cat and child who say "well, I have my head in a blanket and I cant see anything so nothing out there can see me". They just never grew out of that stage.
There is a number of people that have deep knowledge about international affairs and who are excellent in producing excellent analyses. However few manages as well as Jeffery Sachs to put into so clearly direct context of today. Another is Kishore Mahbubani and it would be great to see him on this channel.
Doing God's work, thank you Mr Sachs for all your work over the last two years and being one of the only redeeming voices left in this crumbling, delusional, deeply evil empire. When this disaster has come and gone, its perpetrators will try to slither away from the wreckage and pretend it never happened so they can do it all over again somewhere else. Please do not let them get away with it.
At 4:13 - 4:17 when Professor Sachs says, ‘it’s not the United States people …. but it’s the United States…,’ as much as I respect him I have to push back on that statement. I assert that it ‘IS’ the United States🇺🇸 “PEOPLE!” At least in part. We as a nation are complicit (we share some culpability) in the devastation and havoc wreaked upon the world by our government officials and their insane military [policy]. While we may not “march” to the beat of their war drums, too many of us are bobbing our heads rhythmically in agreement. We need to stand up firm in our opposition to this war, and our warmongering politicians……who are on the verge of pushing us into WW-III . I’m tired of hearing people say “it’s not the American people.” If the American people are not strongly standing against this warmongering insanity, then they are silent-partners in the devastation! We all can do more to demand peace. Let’s stop excusing ourselves
As I see it, the ones in overall control of the US are not elected by the citizens so voting in or out this or that political party will not make much difference.
We were dumbed down and programmed for decades after ww2. They gave us products and more products and all the toys we could ever wish for. While democracy died.
Correct. As long ago as the Roman Empire, this means of keeping huge portions of ordinary people well-fed but distracted, was called the "Bread and Circusses"-strategy.
Both governments are hiring large number of local Cossacks and local ethnic Russians as ordinary soldiers, both Kyiv and Moscow. Some in the government in Kyiv truly believes that a prolonged war will help decrease the number of ethnic Russians and Cossacks in their population.
This is real insight. In Washington they must be mad to ignore such wisdom. They are doomed to continual failure in the field of overarching grand strategy.
All rational global citizen, Taiwanese and European specifically at this moment in time, should accept that you can NOT have security whilst targeting your neighboring country as a rivalry, needless to say an UNSC member and an nuclear superpowered neighbor. A Chinese proverb best describes this “You alone can NOT be safe unless all your neighbors feel safe”. Let’s sit down and talk to you neighbors and find a peaceful way out to co-exist as step one and co-prosper as the end game, rather than get into an unclear Armageddon.
How can you not target them as enemy if they invade you, and kill your friends, and family? EU countries, and Ukraine are among the most peaceful countries in the world. They never threatened Russia. Yet Russia threatened, invaded, and killed them. What will you react in that case? Why didn’t China give in to Japan in WW2 to make them feel safe, and hope that would make you safe too? Why did you fight back? I’m pretty sure in China now, you have the law to protect you in case your neighbors are bad. Or you still need to give them whatever they want to feel safe?
For those who rise to the leadership positions in the US, raised on the mythology of US power and US capacity to dictate terms, and especially raised on decades of US deep-state meddling in the rest of the world's internal affairs at the behest of multinational corporate interests, negotiation is nothing but a tool for tricking the other side. Once we have what we sought, our government feels free to abrogate the agreement. We saw this with the almost immediate violation of the first Bush administration's pledge not to expand NATO, and we saw it in the way the Minsk accords were used, and we saw it in the way the Trump administration exited everything from arms control treaties to the JCPOA. And we have long seen it in how the US ignores its treaty obligations under the UN charter and the Geneva conventions. If the US were a person, he would be considered nothing but a cheap con man.
The reason the US can do this is that all the super-rich people from all over work together, and the US is the binder and defender of the plutocracy, and our clients keep feeding up raw materials at a lower price that keeps us competitive ... except now we are so inefficient we are not competitive except in war, so war is our only mode of operation.
They've forgotten how to be diplomatic. They've been spioled rotten for too many years, and they're in for a rude awakening. Hopefully, not at the expense of us.
