Ukraine shot down one of their F-16s with a patriot missile.... the pilot couldn't evade a decades old fox 3. They're going to lose all of them very soon

NATO has promised 65 more F16’s, to date. There were thousands of the things made and they are being replaced with F35’s. With the almost 400 billion dollars seized from frozen Russian accounts, Ukraine can always buy more. If they run low of pilots, they can request volunteers. Retired NATO pilots can always sign up.

For Ukraine it's a balance. They can get 4 AIM 9 sidewinders (more actually) for the price of 1 AMRAAM. AMRAAM is a good idea against planes - but you don't need the significant standoff distance if it's a missile or a drone. You can get an F16 airborne in 90 seconds if the pilot is in the plane and the engines are kept warm. 5 minutes is the standard where you're in the plane the engines are cold but everything is ready to go. Also Sandboxx has a video on the block 4 F35s titled "The F-35 is about to become a POWERHOUSE" where he goes into the tech refresh 3 that is predating the block 4 and into what's known of the upcoming block 4 upgrades.
