Regrettably, the idea that bad spelling is to be avoided and editorial standards should high enough that basic mistakes are infrequent is long defunct. As with lies, errors are now a marketable commodity. 'Mistakes' are deliberate and calculated. Click- and comment-bait of a most cunning kind. They add juice to the monetisation stats: Clicks. Comments. Time spent on page. Cash for questionable English, driven by an ad-sponsored free-to-view model that rewards maximisation of metrics indicating 'engagement'. Advertisers love engagement. The more there is, the more they compete (i.e. pay) to be placed there. Times accountants and shareholders do not see errors as a problem. They are little nuggets of gold! Eventually the mistakes-for-money strategy will cease to work. Bad English will have been normalised to the extent that blunders lose their power to attract annoyed attention. The dwindling number of people who clung on to their understanding of good English will have given up trying to turn the tide by clicking-in and writing peeved posts about it. I am not criticising people who do that. I did it myself until I realised what it is going on, and that by spending time on posting complaints we achieve nothing. On the contrary, we add fuel to the bonfire. Oops.
