If I interpret this scene correctly, the driver couldn't get out because the turret was in the way. A brave tanker went back to move the turret so the driver could get out. As soon as the turret was out of the way, the driver started to exit, but reached back in for something and was killed by the blast. Had he just ditched, he might have survived. He was likely killed instantly considering where his head was during the explosion.

What I learned from this war, is that we should never give away our freedoms, or else it could be one of us inside that tank, fighting a pointless war, which only a few have to anything to gain.

the tank is damaged, there is a fire in the cabin. The crew leaves the tank, the tank driver cannot leave the cabin, the gun is above the hatch. the gunner returns to the cockpit, turns and raises the gun to free the driver, there is fire in the cockpit, ammunition detonation occurs.the driver did not have time to leave the tank.The gunner is not a coward, they will return to the cabin where there is a fire to save a friend. Fun fact, in American Tanks the ammo is stored in a separate “cubby hole” with a pressure release valve going out from the crew so if THIS exact thing happens, the crew is much less likely have……well, THAT☝️ happen to them. The ammo may go off, but the relief valve sends the explosion outside, so it’s actually safer to stay in the tank if a hit sets off your ammo. Ouch. That tank drivers “flight” made me cringe. Yea. Blasts will tear cloths off as you saw there.

Apparently the ammunition from the tank ignited from a hit minutes before. The crew was still trying to save themselves when they noticed that the tank was starting to burn more and more. You can still see a soldier flying to the left, or at least what's left of him.

Russian soldiers be like tanks for nothing

It’s been interesting to see these tank crews (typically, three per tank) stick around the tank after it’s been hit. I understand if they’ve been wounded by the initial strike and physically can’t run away (they’re going to die anyway). But if they are capable of escaping (like these, in this video) they don’t seem to realize they’ve got mere seconds to get far enough away to save their own life. The tank is going to explode and kill them if they don’t get far away from it. Either a second round is likely to hit them or if there is a fire onboard, the gunpowder (propellant) charges are going to explode. In any case, the concussion and/or shrapnel will kill them if they don’t put enough distance between their body and the tank. This tank commander cost them all their lives by have them stick close to the tank when they should have been trying to put distance between themselves and the disabled tank.

It looks like the Russian tank was hit by an explosive round earlier and ran into the abandon armored troop carrier and stopped. Either the tank commander or gunner went back into the disabled tank to move the turret and raise the gun to allow the driver’s hatch to open. The tank driver managed to get out of the tank, but unfortunately at that same moment the tank was hit by an anti-tank weapon.

RIP for this Fighters.... They only made their Job.....
