Footage released by the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of Ukraine reportedly shows Ukrainain forces striking Russia troops on a thermal camera drone.
The Russian troops can be seen hiding in a tree line before they are struck with artillery.
This footage has not been verified by The Sun.

Though armed drones are excellent for harassing troops and destroying fuel and supplies, they really shine as unarmed spotters for mortars and artillery. They can loiter longer, and their night vision is priceless.

You can see that the drone operator moves the cross hair over each target and paused like at 0:54. What he is doing the pause is to take a photo and saved it to the smartphone as part of DJI search and rescue function. That photo contains the GPS coordinates. He can immediately text that photo with the GPS coordinates over to artillery who would convert it into the distance, elevation and powder amount to drop in on the coordinates.

Why do they use impact shells instead of air burst shells, which are far more effective against infantry? The energy of the Impact shells is mostly absorbed by the ground. These are only effective when in close proximity to the target.

That when a big artillery piece like a howitzer shoots one of their huge shells... on the receiving end when it gets there and let's say just hits the ground 10 feet in front of a bunch of troops... does it fragment in pieces, kind of like a grenade? Or is it just 1 big single piece of lead/metal? And do they explode on contact?

The shell splits into a lot of pieces. I believe most artillery shells can be programmed to explode on impact or in air.

What is even more terrifying is the sheer capability of equipment. The 2nd amendment is null and void, practically speaking and the permanence that this equipment gives every government who has it, is awesome.
