Een fascinerende geschiedenis van een lied dat ik mid jaren 90 heb leren kennen via een instrumentale versie van nota bene een... heavy metalband (Savatage - 'Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)').
Hi. Ik ontdekte dit nummer zo'n 12 /13 jaar geleden op een Russische site. Ik was getriggerd door een uitvoering van Pink Martini die het in 2010 op hun kerstalbum opnam. In militaire dienst heb ik ooit Russisch geleerd en dat kwam mij goed van pas. Het verhaal was destijds wel een beetje bekend, maar een opname was op een Westerse internet site niet te vinden. Ik vond het toen en heb dat gemeld bij Arnold Rypens van The Originals. Later heb ik de opname op You Tube gezet. Zo is het verhaal breder geworden en gingen mensen de originele versie verder plaatsen. Ik vond het wel leuk dat ik gisteren "mijn verhaal" van Leo hoorde.
@@DummyBowie Hé, wat grappig om te lezen dat jij (mede)verantwoordelijk bent voor de verspreiding van de informatie van dit nummer. Ik heb hier nog ergens 'The Originals' liggen van Rypens: de laatste (?) papieren versie uit 2010, dus ik denk niet dat het verhaal van dit nummer er in zal staan. Maar dank voor dit extra kijkje achter het kijkje achter de schermen. :)
