How do you like it after a year? And which one did you get? Im looking for something my 4yr old daughter can play, but ive got enough guitars already. I want to get her a uke so i can learn to play as well :D $35 seems like a good price for something that suits both of us

When I bought my Uke I had no idea what I was doing I just knew I wanted one lol although I’d say I got pretty lucky on picking one I bought a 50 dollar Concert Mitchelle. (Gotta say I’m impressed with the quality, it stays in tune & has a crisp sound) & I love it. Although I’m still a novice I have been very interested in getting a tenor uke.

I would recommend the Mitchel Tenor MUT70 or something or other. Granted, it goes for 170 bucks new, you get a full-sounding tenor ukulele with a solid spruce top. Solid wood ages and the instrument develops a voice all its own. Otherwise, the Luna Tattoo tenor ukulele is also a good option. Note that tenor ukes will tend to be pricier because are comprised of more wood. Good luck.

Great explanation! This is clearly the best ukulele video guide i could find right now! So professional and entertaining. Everything wrapped up so well. I love how you keep up that beautiful smile the whole video. It doesnt even feel boring with you being so energetic and fun! Build up good vibes in me while watching this. Anyway, i never owned an ukulele before and considering to get one but still confused between the concert or the tenor one. i have long and slightly small fingers. i like the portability of the concert and how most of the beginners choose this but i kinda like the sound of tenor better. Heck, the more i think about it, the more confused i become. i feel like i should just buy all of them! Any replies from you would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your support! If you're able to buy multiple, it's definitely nice to have options. If you want to start out with only one, I'd suggest going for a concert ukulele. It's not the smallest and it's not the largest, so it's a great way to get a feel for the ukulele if you're a beginner. If you find that you absolutely love playing the ukulele and want to invest further, go with the tenor next since that's the one you loved the sound of most. As far as which concert to get, I always recommend the one I own simply because it's my favorite (linked in the description box.) However, if you want something under the $50 price point, check out the ukulele I just made a review about (posted today April 3rd, "giveaway" video.) It's an ADM concert ukulele and I'm really happy with it, especially considering the lower price point. Hope this helps!

I’m sure by now you have already decided, but if not, I would totally go for it. you do have to relearn the chords, but it is so worth it for the amazing sound. It also comes in handy if you want to play the guitar in the future.

Ik this comment is a bit old but I thought it might not hurt to still add this in. If you are planning on going into guitar from Uke you definently want to get either a Tenor or Baritone but preferably Bari. A Baritone actually uses standard guitar tunning and would be perfect if your using Ukelele to transition into Guitar (but really practicing with any uke will probably help) not only will it help because you wont have to relearn the string setup on the guitar (which I struggled with going from guitar to Uke) but it will also get you used to moving along larger frets and a much longer fret board.

Im a beginner and I've been practicing on my little brothers soprano ukulele.I've learned a lot in these last couple of days. I want to get my own, a concert one, but i don't know if thats too much for a beginner. Should I get a suprano or a concert. Btw I'm 13 and 4'9. I don't know if that changes anything tho...

(I’m gonna leave my experience here for anyone reading this, since this comment was written half a year ago) I’m 14 and about 5’0 and I started with a concert one. I also have tiny baby hands and the size works perfect for me! I’m planning on getting a new Ukulele and I’m definitely going to buy another concert one. I like the sound best and the size is great for my fingers to switch chords!

Check the number of frets. Concert ukuleles have from 15-20 frets. Sopranos have less frets.

I was wondering if my ukulele was a baritone or a tenor. I compared my ukulele's sound to both the baritone and the tenor. I realized that it was a tenor! Mine is pretty big, but it sounds like a tenor.

Hi Michelle! You're welcome! Yes, in all of my worship ukulele tutorials I am using a concert ukulele. In this video, I explain how a concert ukulele is tuned the exact same way as a soprano ukulele, as well as a tenor ukulele. This means that the way you play chords will be exactly the same on the soprano, concert, and tenor ukulele. That being said, yes, you can use all of my ukulele tutorials with either a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele :-)

Don't feel bad! Saying that it was a "toy" ukulele wasn't meant as a put down at all. My intention was to warn people that ukuleles on the cheaper side have a tendency to fall out of tune quite frequently. Because of this, it can sometimes be worth taking more time to save up for one that's a little bit better quality! But I certainly can't say that all cheap ukuleles are like this - you might have a wonderful one! I hope you do :)

If you're experienced with the guitar you might be very comfortable with the baritone or tenor. Sopranos and concerts though are definitely great when you're starting out.

So hulo maybe dead comment section, so I’m having trouble on choosing a uke size. Atm, I’m 13 with a height of 1.6m (idk if it changes anything)and Im thinking about getting concert or tenor uke. What is best for a beginner at this age? A tenor or concert?

I'd recommend a concert for starting out! Tenors are great too and would work just fine for you, but they are a bit bigger. If you're going for a more "traditional" ukulele sound, then start out with a concert size :)

You did not mention any travel/outdoor ukuleles made of any of the following materials: polycarbonate construction carbon fiber composite polycarbonate injection molded ABS with fiber glass reinforcement carbon fiber composite polycarbonate injection molded from translucent bottle green composite polycarbonate with Glass fiber strands I do not buy the wood ukulele generally because I do not want to be concerned with humidity and other weather conditions that would adversely affect wood composition. I love ukes I can take outside, put in car, not worry if dogs will damage and still sound wonderful. Please put a few recommendations on your uke buying guide. Thanks. Ukulele Sue.

Irritated with the little girl voice of the presenter . Too many times throughout the video, when she's listing various types, she repeats "ukulele" after each one. We know they are ukuleles, maybe the childlike voice highlighted the irritation, but you might try going through a written transcript to prune the unnecessary repetition. It's the only time I have stopped an information video on a topic due to these reasons.

I’m 10 and I have long fingers. And I’m Looking For The Concert Ukulele. But i don’t know because the concert may be smaller and harder for me. But i’ll choose the concert because the tune is right for me and the size. I dont like big instruments. But i don’t know still :/ but thanks for the advice!

I want to eventually learn the guitar but not for a couple of years. For now, I want to get a ukulele. I think my hands are pretty big but I play the violin comfortably. I also play the piano, so maybe I just have long fingers? I think I want to either get a concert or a tenor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is the fourth video I have watched about buying an ukulele and it's the best one I've seen. Thank you for your thorough review. I got curious with ukuelele purchased an inexpensive nice concert in 2018. I am so happy I can play again just for my own fun and for the kids in school. I'm actually looking at that same Oscar Schmidt or Enya by comparison, for an upgrade. Glad you like it too.

As a novice lutherer ( a fancy way to say I build cigar box guitars) this helped me a ton I picked up a kohala Soprano for $3.00 while thrift storing with my daughter and granddaughter I think it would be a budget uke but it seems to stay in tune I tightened the machine heads so that might do it I am going to put in a piezo pickup so I can hook it up to my amp It might get sold in the late summer at my booth at a bluegrass festival Now if I can learn to play I might sell more

I started with the infamous Makala dolphin soprano, which I liked for a while, and a year later I got a normal Kala baritone and oh my gosh I love it with all my heart. It sounds so much better than the small soprano and ahh I love baritones in general. This comment has no point except me fangirling over baritones. a l s o i’m fairly small (i’m 13) and have small hands but I just love the baritone anyway because the sound is gorgeous

The Baritone ukulele tuning seems pretty close to the main tuning on the Banjo (which is tuned to a open G chord (gDGBD (the lower case g is that 5th drone string) I bet I could easily play it well if I tuned down the e string to d (since banjo is my main instrument)!

Im 10 and I have pretty small hands and everybody is saying concert is better but it's a little bigger than saprano and my hands are very small so which should I get saprano or concert??

i learned most part of the "cheap thrills" -sia at my music-class today and i wanted just to go home and buy an ukulele sooo hard since it was fun to learn songs on it and play by myself.. but i can't afford it.. :(((

If the baritone is the four last strings of a guitar, does that mean the ukelele chord G turns into a D? Because the chord D in guitar is those four last strings..... (I am a guitar player and ukulele player)

This was so sooo helpful! Especially the brand recommendations. I was about to buy a soprano from FlightMusic, even though I thiiink I want a concert size? The thing is Im unsure of what size I want, but very sure that I want a ukulele that fit me aesthetically. I really want something thats ME, yknow? So I was about to shoot for the saprano anyway. Now I know I can look through Luna ukuleles and pick something completely ideal, no matter what size I end up settling on in the end.

If I'm a beginner is the Mahala one good? I guess I would update it if I get better at playing it but I'm just planning to play it to myself in my room...
