I started with a cheap transducer. It made an amplified sound but limited. I tried the K&k pick up it didn't work well at all but to be fair it wasn't a great uke. I found a Koaloha opio used that had a passive under saddle that was way better. When I plugged it into pedals and a D.A.W. it had a weak signal and tried everything. Then I got a lrbaggs 5.0 it was a huge difference but I broke it . That led to the Fishman Matrix which I still have. It is way more durable and sounds as good as the lr baggs and also has a 9 v battery which lasts for months. I got a Kamaka and put the Fishman in as well with no issues. The only complaint is it has a mid-scoop knob which I never use. I wish I could turn it into something like a tone or treble boost etc.
Ah, thanks for sharing! I also prefer the Fishman Matrix to the other options but I havent tried a K&K yet so I’m reserving judgement on that haha. The passive pickup weak signal is a struggle for sure but the onboard or offboard preamp boost should fix that! There are so many options, I want to experiment mixing and matching the Fishman Matrix with things like the MISI rechargeable endpin jack to see how they sound, try to get the best of everything on my ukulele haha
