I have seen a lot of comment saying that “Ndi Igbos” are disrespecting us because they call Ukwuanis Igbo. Then let me tell you this, you are a being disrespectful also to me and others who know their roots，because nobody made you the mouthpiece of ndi Ukwuanis. If you know that you don’t want to be Igbo, nsogbu ada, but please don’t speak for the rest of us. I grew up hearing my parents say ndi-Igbo as if they werent talking about their own family. Yet the very thing you call yourself is an igbo word，plain and simple. I woke up in 2020 and I will wake all my family members also. Anyi bu Ofu. My children will never grow up with this lack of knowledge of their roots. They will always maintain their Igbo roots. How can my name be Obodo Isioma and I am not Igbo? my family bare names Like Chinedu， Chibueze, Ugochukwu, Chukwutem, Chukwuka. Nduka, Nwakaego, Ngozi, Chinonye, Chioma, Nneka, Nwachukwu etc. People always ask if I am from Enugu When they hear Obodo (are there plenty Obodos there?) I am learning central Igbo so I can speak easily instead of responding with just English or my dialect (Ukwuani, which others also understand) when spoken to. I was reading Sir Chinua Achebe’s No longer at Ease where he wrote of “Ikenga” I couldn’t believe my eyes because every February my family runs to the the Umukwata to celebrate the Ikenge festival and you dare say I am not an Ada of Igbo land. Our brothers across the River, bear with us bikini, when Nigeria’happens’ to us we will recorn with our identity, until then never treat any Anioma person like they are different from you. Chi gozie nanyi. Igbo Kwenu!
Ask your self how many edo speaking persons migrated to your land? And check how many igbo that come to your place. Also checked how unchecked immigrant to once land can change things. The migration of igbo to your land changed the culture and language. Why are people afraid of fulani migration to their land? Because after 100 years a lot of things are going to change.
I see most Ukwuanis don't know that there are lots of clans that make up the Igbo nation. Not all of us speak exactly alike. We all have our clan names just like you people bear Ukwuani. We have our own respective dialects just like you people too. We are all Igbo and belong to the Igbo nation despite the dialectical differences. I am ukwuani person, truly we and IGBOS are one nothing can change it, without being thought we can hear and understand Igbo even in parable, the little point that defer us is what u just said, but originally we are one people.
The ukwuani dialect does not converge around central igbo as with other purely igbo dialects. It has iduoid words, vocabulary and phrases found in iduoid/Esan/urhobo/itsoko dialects. Like 'ughegbe' to mean mirror. Its a mixed blessing dialect like the Japanese and Itsekiri dialects.

The answer is a capital NO. Only other Igbos who pay attention can understand it and very well too. For your information, Mirror in Central Igbo is also called 'Ugegbe'. Isn't it the same thing the name in Ukwuani? Let me ask you a question. What is blood called in Urhobo language? Is it not 'obara'? Isn't it the same word for blood in Igbo language? Now, do we say Urhobos are now Igbos because of few word similarities? The answer is a 'no'. There's a difference between a dialect of a language and another that shares the same root with that language mostly called an -oid of it. Ukwuani dialect is a dialect of Igbo and not regarded as Igboid because it is very mutually intelligible with other Igbo dialects.
For those thinking that we are claiming them nobody is claiming if you speak Edo or Yoruba i never say that your Igbo ...But for now on ,I will never call anyone from your state that speak my igbo language an Igbo person because your guys are still brainwashed .
The Rev made a mistake . HE should remember that there were Igbos in Western Nigeria before independence in1960. He was right in stating that the entire area west of the Niger river was Western Nigeria. He ignored or forgot that Asaba Ogwashiukwu Isseleukwu Onicha Ugbo and other parts of the then Western region were parts of Igboland and that their people still admit that they are Igbos. He forgot that the people who championed the creation of the Midwest were mainly the Igbos and that they knew what they were doing.Perhaps he was unaware that the then Premier of the Midwest was Igbo, and that Nzeogwu , Achuzie, Okwechime,and others who were major military actors in the Biafran struggle were from the Midwest and that they never disowned their Igbo origin. In general, the true fact which needs to be noted is that Western Igbos later became Midwest Igbos and later Bendel Igbos and now Delta Igbos due to political changes . Nobody will or can force Ukwuani people to become Igbos or Biafrans as appropriate.
This man is speaking the cleanest and clearest igbo ever spoken by any Igbo sub group. I have never been to ndokwa and I don't know where it is but I heard him 100%. It must have been a psychological burden for the few denying being igbo, they need to be pitied, It's not easy.

By culture and traditions, language, we are Igbos. Your geographical location doesn't determine who you are , your state of residence does not make you . The state can be recreated and you will cease to be from Delta.

Your guest spoke well, but there are some informations that he hide,it is in those information that the truth lies. Southern Nigeria was divided into Western region and Eastern region in 1939 of which Ndokwa was part of Western region. Now,does it mean that Ndokwa does not have an ethnic identity before the creation of those artificial regions? in extention before the coming of the colonial masters?No Ndokwa was part of Igboland,their being in the Western region was just an artificial political demarcation for colonial administration,and does not mean ethnic boundary. Political administrative boundaries does not mean ethnic boundary,Ndokwa being in the Western region does not rightfully give it another ethnicity, some parts of Yoruba was put in the north, even at that they still maintain their Yorubaness. Before the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914,even before the coming of the colonial masters, the people that are today Ndokwa had been there, they didn't come there during the creation of those regions,if that is true, why wouldn't you ask yourself,"what was our ethnic identity before the creation of those regions or before the coming of the colonial masters"? You can believe with me that the name "Ndokwa"is not an ancestral name,it is a recent forgery. Ukwuani is the name of a particular town in that area, which the Portuguese mispronounced as kwale, today that town is known as kwale town. I'm not begging anybody to become part of Igbo, afterall,even without Ndokwa, Igbo is still a major ethnic group, it's just that I don't like the way that man hid the true information, even if you people doesn't want to be Igbo truth should be told,then after telling the truth you can go ahead and call yourself whatever you like. But, it's quite shameful for someone to deny his ancestors just because of ordinary creation of artificial political provinces by the colonial masters for effective colonial administration. There is another misconception about being Igbo that you people have, and it is one of the major reasons for your identity crises,being Igbo does not necessarily mean agitating for Biafra, Igbo is an ethnic group while Biafra is a nation under agitation. One can be Igbo and have nothing to do with Biafra agitation,on the other hand,a group that's not Igbo can join in the agitation. I've been watching this channel for sometime without commenting but today I decided to say my input. I have some questions for you. Do you people from the NdeUkwuani TV know your history from about 200 years ago? Do you know of the popular Eze of Aboh in the 19th century called Eze Obi Ossai? Have you read about his encounter with the British explorers and his responses about his ethnic nation? If you haven't read about it, I suggest you do. After that, we can understand ourselves better.
As for the elder who spoke on this session, he's politically correct about the Nigerian geopolitical history of NdeUkwuani and other Anioma clans being out of South East but ethnicity is different from geopolitics. A typical example is the people of Kwara South are Yorubas but have never been in Western region. Did it make them to be different from other Yorubas? No! Another question is this... are Ukwuanis different from ndi Enuani? (So funny). If Ogwashi Ukwu, Igbuzo, Okpanam, Asaba etc are Igbos despite never being in the Eastern region, what made it so? It is language, customs and traditions plus many similarities that make different clans to belong to one ethnic nation. All Igbos are very smart but I wonder why this topic seems to ellude/confuse some of her clans. If you travel to a far place and you meet someone who looks like you and after interacting discovers he speaks a different language you can understand and shares similar customs with you. Common sense shows that you will suspect he shares origin with you. Lol... imagine Ukwuani which is contiguous with other parts of Igboland claiming they're not a member of the Igbo nation! If the argument is that Nde Ukwuani despite all the similarities don't want to politically be associated with other Igbos, we can understand it but denying being Igbos is something very hilarious. I being an Igbo man cannot see someone bearing Emeke, telling me about the traditions from his village being almost exactly with that in my own village, speaking his ancestral language which I can clearly understand and yet can't see him like my ancestral brother. It's not possible. We shall continue to see Nde Ukwuani as our people until the lose their traditional language that sounds like ours plus their traditions that are like ours before we stop seeing them like our kith and kins. We shall however respect your political choice of association. Just also remember that distancing yourselves from your brothers politically has a price.
The very war that was fought by igbos was caused by Kaduna Nzogwu from Okpanam. The very state who caused the massive death of igbo people for three years is busy spewing rubbish. What is it you have that people want to claim?. What do you have, who do you have?. My brother be gentle on them. The loss of the civil war caused us a lot of damage. Igbo communities outside the SE were distancing themselves from the ndi Igbo for survival. We are also having similar problems with Ikwere people of Rivers state. Hopefully with enlightenment their views will change. Their views will not stop us from marrying beautiful damsels from Western Igbo.

There are some yoruba contaminated blood in that so called ukwuani but they should all know the implications to deny people's origin and yet speak their language and live in their land.
Western and Midwestern regions are political creations. It shouldn't confuse who we are. As at now, Southeast is the only Igbo we have in Nigeria. Those Igbos outside the SE deny that they are Igbos. Assuming they were included in SE, would they still deny who they are? The regions and states were not created based on ethnicity but were based on political decision, and you know that political decisions are meant to satisfy the agenda of the creator of the states and regions.

There is no single book in history that reflects the existence of biafra during the arrival of the British. The British brought biafra from congo and spread them all over the country. Nnamdi asikiwa waid igbo are from Benin.

Na, Ukwani is a recognized language on its own. It’s officially recognized as one of the 306 languages in Nigeria by the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is not a dialect of the Igbo language it’s an independent language, the two speakers are not mutually intelligible.

this is a very complex issue ,difficult to say we are not and difficult to say we are ,difficult to say we are not then how comes the similarities in languages , culturally ,socially and religiously , difficult to say we are because there is NO KNOWN HISTORY WRITTEN OR ORAL THAT SPECIFICALLY LINK US TO IBOS, the oral history would have been that there is a man who migrated from ibo land to Ukwuani land and settle there or there was a war or famine in ibo land for that reason he or they migrated to Ukwuani and settle there, the oral history is very silent on the relationship or links between Ukwuani people and Ibos ,and for that reason i personally come to the conclusion that we are not Ibos ,we are who we are and they are who they are ,the similarities between we and them today may be as a result of bigger or powerful neighbour that influence us to doing things or speaking like them ,English language and Christanity is an example today , before BC there is no christainity in Europe they where all pagans , but today opposite is the case ,English language is another ,in the 70s how many people can speak english in Amai ,i remember in the 70s when my father brought me from Benin to Amai to attend Igwete primary school i was the only child in Amai Ishikaguma that can speak english ,the rest children can hear but cant speak but look at Amai today ,tomorrow you come and tell me we are British because we are speaking english and wearing suit and ties bearing names like John, Joseph, Mary and so on ,or we are Jews or Israelis because we are Christains ,Ukwuani people and Ibo people dont have links, forget all the similarities we are who we are and they are who the are
We are not igbo no matter the similarities. The itsekiri speak similar to yoruba language but the yoruba man never address them as delta Yoruba. Now because of our minerals resources which they want to benefit from. We are never part of them after all history made us to understand that we are from igala.
