Ya gotta love Uli Roth. He was too deep an artist for the Scorpions in 1979. Jabs was a shredding, athletic, smiling guitarist. Young, virile, physical, lightning fast and prototypical for the genre. Uli Roth was a mysterious traveler. He created timeless melody while in a trance. Fast, fluent, visionary and indifferent to fads. The Scorpions chose the right guitar player in Mathias. Uli Roth chose his own path. He stayed true to his muse. He would have never been happy with the testosterone driven 80's Scorpions. He did what he had to do. He left the band. It's good to know that he still gets along with the Scorpions. Good friends all. A happy story. We could use a few more happy stories these days.
" get along with the Scorpions" The band with the absolute lowest amount of drama and bs ever! Michael, Uli Jon, Mathias, Rudolf and Klaus should inspire all musicians, and ppl with their harmonious story, Namaste all
Uli has magical touch and tone in this performance. No other guitarist has this incredible sensitivity for dynamic range and vibrato. Uli really makes the guitar sing like a violin. Awesome feel and phrasing. Definitely in the Pantheon of Guitar Gods.
Uli, you are amazing. I've never heard an elecric guitarist playing with so much feeling and sensitivity. You prove that rock an classical musicians can play on the same level.
Holy Crap! I have been into this guy since Tokyo tapes first came out in 78. I would have never guessed he would be playing Antonio Vivaldi note for note! Mind blown officially!
A lot of folks don't really understand what's going on over here.. Uli is a 70s era guitarist. From the newer generations you would expect guitarists with equal, if not better techniques and virsatilaty, but from his time period, not a single electric guitarist can touch him! This puts uli on a completely different cosmological scale!
Snuppeluppen søppelsopp Good point, but under the same prism we could say the same about Jimmy Hendrix and the classic or flamenco guitar virtuosos of that time. Different kind of music.
The sky guitar is really amazing for this type of music. It sounds more like a violin than a guitar and that makes Uli's interpretation unique as always!
Amazing you shot this Hippie Steve. Sound-picture quality...all of this time I thought it was released by Uli. That Vivaldi blew away people that never would've listened to him/ And so many recordings have been made of it but Uli's was fuller and richer. Thanks again for the post.
Ollie is mutually adored by the greatest guitarists that are still alive. Watch them when they play together sometime the admiration the respect that is so evident. You can see it in their gestures and their eyes their behavior. And only in all his greatness is always understated and full of humility wow always knowing that he can go the extra mile that others cannot. Wonderful to see this kind of stuff caught on film. God bless you all we're blessed to be able to hear this.
I've always loved Uli's Metamorphosis even though i think he goes a bit too far in the high notes, sometimes. He's got such a fluidity and brio... The guitar tone is so pure as well... all in all, he makes us think it's ..Easy, while it's so difficult. I had the big pleasure to interview him for this release...
I'm not sure ... he has got a certain degree of distortion that a classical violin hasn't. That makes the perception different. My perception, at least.
Finally this piece on electric guitar, because Vivaldi's 4 seasons have parts of real speed metal, totally insane but above&beyound beauty. All music genres come from classical because it's an Universal language. Would loved seen Jason Becker played Vivaldi. 🇳🇱🌬💞
Going to see him again in Nashville. One man show this time. Small venue. What an honour. I guess his talent is too much for some to comprehend. The city should be shut down but instead he plays a small room. Oh well it is certainly to my benefit.. Thanks Uli
JUST SOME TRIVIA THE BLUE STONE belong to jIMI HENDRIX .HE AND ULI WERE INVOLVED WITH THE SAME FEMALE AND SHE WAS LEFT THAT . SHE THEN GAVE TO ULI .HE AND HENDRIX WERE GREAT FRIENDS. JUST SOME TRIVIA
I love neo classical metal, and classical music. Uli Jon Roth was the best classical - rock player there ever was until Malmsteen came around. But I'm pretty sure Uli inspired Malnateen, even though Malmsteen never said so. How could he not!, Uli did the classical - rock thing before and better then Ritchie Blackmore/ Jimmy Page!.......Malmsteen took it to another whole level decades later!
Blackmore was already using sweeps, the phrygian dominant scale, and playing with an orcherstra in 69, but i agree that Uli took it a step further. Yngwie's playing style is a mix between the two (Uli and Blackmore), but his on stage attitude (especially his early year) is definitely Blackmore. Also, Page never touch anything classical.
@@ivanfoofoo any video footage? Edit: you're right, Page does play some classical tunes on some of zeppelin's live shows, but still, his contribution towards neoclassical metal is miniscule compared to Blackmore and Uli
I don't get it, here he can get such a beautiful tone out of his Sky guitar, but other times that thing sounds like someone trying to burp in tune. I get the feeling that either that guitar just really doesn't work well with certain setups or his sound guys hate him.
I think sky guitar only suitable for this type of music.. agree with you for the sound for other song.. since uli want this guitar sound like voilin (30 fret) 🙊
No doubt Uli is a phenomenal guitar player, but I think classical music and electric guitar just don't go together no matter how many times I give it a try.
