I really enjoyed this improvement hack. Better graphics, better game balance, better translation (leading to better story and dialogue). If you were a fan of the original, I recommend giving this one a go. I have zero complaints.

This romhack is absolutely fantastic. It took one of my favorites as a kid and fixed all of the problems I had with it, and just made it fun to play.

@@DragunBreath I absolutely agree. There is no reason not to play with this hack. It’s a complete improvement across the board. Maybe some people will complain about Rot being nerfed but I think it’s much better this way.

Interesting mod. Much better than the original Exodus for NES, that's for sure. I always thought that ROT vs DEATH was insta-kill as opposed to just bringing them close to death. Yeh they di in one hit, but they can still poison/spell you, especially late game. If I was to nerf rot myself (from original games) would be to set enemies to have a -10% hp/turn debuff, so it does "rot" them, it's just not as pwerful. Then again if you remove the time pass button without moving it starts making a lot more sense. PC/Commodore/Atari versions you HAD to move to regain HPs, which meant mana conservation was even more important. But yeah NES party? 3 Wizards and one Druid does quite enough and you have 75% of all useful cleric spells as a Druid anyways. Thanks for the LP !

@1:29:55 -- I remember back in Atari800 days, I used to LOVE farming Man'O'wars for the sweet 20xp per kill ( on that platform ). I did not even waste time curing poison, and I'd pay 400 to cure the party at the castle. 400 is easily made anyways. Also had made safe pockets to regain MP in by surrounding a 2x2 square with a ring of chests (monsters would not cross the chests on that version, lol !). It's a bit of a bad change to put them to 0xp, because they still take ressources and time to beat. They should've gave at least 1xp or just remove them from the spawning table. Not a big deal as it just means farming XP in dungeons near an HP fountain is the better option now, well beside ManOwars.

@@Francois424 I actually can’t figure out the exact mechanism. (I should probably look at the ReadMe. 😅) Sometimes I got zero XP, sometimes I didn’t. 🤷‍♂️

@@bycromretrogamer7749 watched some more today, ans based on your footage it seems when you do not get leveled-up by the king, your XP takes a hit. When you're "in your level range" like in the xp between current level and next level, then you get full XP or close to it. A very weird way to do it indeed... *IF* I am right, of course

@@Francois424 that seems like the only thing that would make sense based on the evidence. If the desired effect is to discourage banking XP, then I could see how that might work.

@@kevinmack5618 long story short, I use Heroforge to create a 3d model, then I use an app called AI Mirror to make them look more anime style, and then use the same app to make them look like Pixel Art.
