This how-to video applies to all 2UZ-FE engines found in Lexus and Toyota vehicles (Tundra, Landcruiser, LX470, Sequoia, 4runner, GX470). Most of the video focuses on the repair with a bit of entertaining commentary to keep it interesting.
This video covers replacing the starter motor, removing the air intake (and putting it back), the coolant bypass gaskets, and a lot more.

I did this the other day and oh boy it was the biggest job I EVER did alone. Thank you for this video, yes it is the BEST one I've seen so far. Watched this video two times. Took me 11hrs. Yes the hard part is the 14mm bolt on the DS. Flex head deep 14mm socket. Have fun.

This video helped me A LOT in replacing the starter on my 99 LX470, so thanks. The wobble socket process for the back of that driver side bolt saved me some cussing. Special thanks on that detail. Additional learnings: get yourself a magnetic pickup tool before you get started. There are a lot of bolts, and they LOVE to try to jump down into the engine bay and hide. Or just don't be like me and don't drop bolts. Also don't be like me and forget to clip the lower throttle body coolant hose back on securely, because once you get the truck started and go back to Napa to return your core for credit, you'll wind up just buying two gallons of coolant to refill where it was pumped all over the engine block, completely offsetting that whole "gain." LOL - fortunately no overheating just momentary panic.

@cruiserpatch I am long overdue thanking you for this video. The how-to was great, but the unsung hero was the calming music playing in the background which kept me from yeeting several tools through the garage window at various points. For anyone doing this, I highly recommend doing valve cover gaskets and exhaust manifolds if you were already thinking about them. Access to both is greatly improved during the process. My only other recommendation is cutting a 2x12 such that you can lay it horizontally across the engine bay and rest your chest on it while wrenching. It's a little easier than climbing in and out for us older folks.

That left starter bolt sucks. Took me longer to get that than to get the manifold off!!

Quick question - why did you wait till after you removed the starter to remove the bypass? I only ask because I just changed my starter on the same vehicle you have, and after spending an entire day trying to access the starter's bolts, I gave up and removed the bypass and in 5 minutes the starter was out. Why does no one do this? I watched probably 5 videos showing how to replace the starter and no one takes out the bypass, and everyone struggles mightily trying to get to the starter's bolts. With the bypass out of the way, it's a very simple and quick job (after removing the manifold, of course!).

Excellent vid, followed it to a tee for my 2002 LC and it's the best step by step vid out there. Question, I cracked the two sensors at 14:30 when re-installing the manifold (I think they're both temp sensors). Do you have the part numbers for the sensors and connectors? Thank you!
