To me, this is a proper overland rig, not the studio apartments on wheels that some companies turn out (at the cost of a house, at that!). I'm a few years away from doing something like this myself, but this is truly something inspirational mate. I hope in a few years' time to build out something very similar on the back of a four door Fuso or Isuzu (US market, here), and for the life of me I'd never considered putting a bed / beds inside the canopy until six minutes ago. Brilliant! Thanks for the inspiration and awesome tour!

The drop slides are a great bit of kit.👍💪🛠 Thinking if we were to get a truck one side the Kitchen the other side to carry beach/ water toys. Surf boards, hydrofoil, Kite boards, Jet skies, scuba, etc.🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️🏖🌊 Thanks for sharing your build. 👍🤙

Jaimie, i would not ever have thought of kitting out a Canter. That (for me) is some real outta tha box thinking. But i spose thats what happens when we (i) get/got stuck in the Landy groove lol. Awesome truck cobber. Cant wait to see it out and about. Hooroo for now.

you said that the cabs don't tilt on the dual cab... But they do. its only four bolts and then up it goes. I tilt my 2010 all the time to work on it and i find it a lot better than going in through the hole under the seats.

The hell you mean the cab doesn't flip on the dual?! That was the entire appeal to it! Must be an absolute pain in the ass to change a belt on that thing.

Our family has the same truck (it says its 4wd on the badging up front and it sure has the axle on the front to back that claim up but for some funny reason there's no lever inside the cabin to put it in 4wd but when it hits the mud the front wheels has drive

Your truck is 4WD alright. It has a sensor instead of a lever to engage 4 wheel.

Yes mate 2001 model, depends what you call heavy for power to rate ratio. Weighs in at 4400kg loaded sits on the hwy 110km fuel 18L per 100km and up to 22L Offroad It is pretty amazing Offroad. All in all no complaints.

Hi Jamie, I am seriously considering buying a canter at the end of this year for traveling and will be towing my caravan I currently have a Ford Ranger and I’m very happy with it but I’m worried about my weight and know over my GVM and I would like to have a chat to you about what works and what I would need to do if I do go for the canter Cheers Amos

It’s the original 4.2L non turbo but I’ve turbo and put an intercooler on.

Just want to know - can it do 90-100km/h on the Highway, and does the parabolic suspension make it comfortable enough to drive all day if you had to do? Have heard these light trucks are quite firm and uncomfortable, even with weight in the back

I changed the transfer case ratio and sit comfortably 110km at 2600 rpm the ATW parabolic suspension is a must for all day driving.

@@JamieHazelden 2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle. Cummins 8.3 250/800 mechanical. Allison 3060. At 52mph in the slow-lane, we chug along at 1,825rpm. . 2,600rpm sounds screaming.

Sorry i missed your comment, when you move to truck if an older one your expense will move with it. They are a little more expensive if you break something but overal a far better way to travel and see the country. I think there a winner for anyone, if used the right way. Cheers

The old Canter seemed to be the best choice offered everything i needed, When i update i will go the newer Isuzu.

Isuzu has more torque and creature comforts.

@@JamieHazelden Would you think about a HINO? They have 4 wheel disc brakes, and a 6 speed trans, and lots of electric stability stuff (ABS; ESC; EBD; VSC and so on). 464Nm of torque from a 4L turbo engine, but don't know how that compares to the Isuzu.

This did'nt come out with one, we added on just in front of the radiator up under the front when we turbo it.Cheers

@@JamieHazelden was this a non turbo version or did you just change it? I have a 2007 4x4 3.9lt turbo diesel canter and it’s so slow would love to do some power upgrades the intercooler and turbo give you much more power did you do a tune with all that?

I was looking at buying one but after seeing this clip it's totally turned me off. It's clear a standard canter is rubbish if you have to put so much more extras into it.. Sorry I won't be buying one.
