Finding a group of wargamers to interact with is a great way to stay motivated to complete projects. The online resources available today cover anything and everything you may have a question on. And the number and availability of so many different periods of interest are amazing compared to my beginning years in the hobby. It is a Rennaissance period in wargaming.

I would recommend the skirmish games made by Joseph McCullough, such as Frostgrave (for fantasy) or Stargrave (for sci fi). Theyre both loads of fun, miniatures agnostic, and have a low barrier for entry as you only need 10 models for a crew. The books and expansions are prety affordable with good options for head-to-head, cooperative, or even solo play, and most importantly, very little in the way of codex creep.

I thought wargaming was just Warhammer and then some LOTR, it's nice to lear there's much more! Certainly made me more interested in taking this as a hobby :)

it's almost sad that most people only know warhammer because warhammer is not even particularly good. There are so many great games out there

Glad it was a useful video. I personally have nothing against Games workshop as they really helped me get into the hobby and made it popular, but it really is just the tip of the iceberg, so many cool things to explore. Thanks again.

I don’t have anything particular against Warhammer either, it’s just a universe I’m not familiar with (and honestly doesn’t attract me that much). Like I’ve played the Total War series all my life until they got into Warhammer :) Though I feel like I might be more into it if I learn more about the world’s lore. “Gameplay wise” I’d much rather play a wargame that focuses more on tactical troop placement and movement than having overkill of skills to use/luck of the dice, and in that perspective I think there might be more appealing options for me than Warhammer too. There’s a workshop closeby here, might just go check out what kind of underground wargaming business is going on around my town :)

@@yannickschram4008 Sounds good. I agree with you regarding overkill. That was one of the things that drew me away from 40k was the lack of real space to maneuver on the table and it being more about who can shoot there enemy down fastest.
