home by NSProduction99 (l’usine annexe) Have more holiday ideas? Drop em' below! I also forgot to mention -- you can celebrate a couple's anniversary, mark a wedding on your calendar using the method of adding memorable moments in 13:08! There's so many different ways to make one of the ACTUALLY different and helpful features in The Sims 4 better! I hope this video helps spice up your gameplay a little... or make it more wholesome haha. Love you! x
I can’t remember the modder who made the plan date event, but I have it in my game so it exists! I also made a firework day which is basically the 4th of July ETA: it’s by Rex & The Sims
To avoid having to create the holidays every time I want to start a new game, I have a save called "new game, holidays included". This is a completely fresh save where I've never played. Whenever I want to start a new game, I load up the "new game"-save, do whatever I want and select "save as" when I save, so I create a new save for my new family instead of overwriting the "new game"-savefile
There are a lot of great ideas in here! While I probably wouldn't think of father's day, I can't believe I never made a winterfest eve. So I suppose with all of these differing holidays you're taking advantage of all the various ideas, and keeping gameplay more fresh. Be nice if it were easy to share just calendar setups.
I’m trying ! Seems like with TS4 enjoyment for the game comes more from the player rather than the game itself. I think being able to share a calendar setup would be SO convenient because I forget the calendar is there sometimes. Also HUGE Thank you for checking my video out!!
@@az25blue I do winterfest eve too! I always delete decorating from winterfest and add it to winterfest eve because nobody actually decorates on Christmas, it happens before. I like being able to prepare for it before :)
In case this helps, A Deep Indigo shared a calendar with extra holidays as a package mod, including Winterfest Eve. :) It's called More Premade Holidays.
I personally like to add my birthday into the sims' calendar and call it "Goddess' Birthday" (since I'm the one who controls them). It's a mix of sims taking care of themselves (exercising, cleaning) & celebrating (drinking, telling funny stories of what happened during their lifetime) with a sprinkle of something mischievious/funny (ex.: running around naked)
I almost got emotional because this would actually make me play the game and not just give up after an hour lol. Sometimes I forget to give my sims a day off 😭
I have summer vacation (or staycation) set up for the first week of summer: -1st day is for planning and prep [Preparation] (cleaning, resolutions, and travel). -2nd day is to get used to the time off [Acclimation] (Games and Water fun). -3rd day is for getting out of the house/rental [Exploration] (Exercise and Hiking (LittleMissSam's Social Activities) or Give Gifts (preferably to someone new). -4th day is for partying [Vacation!] (Invite guests, Art and music spirit, Party spirit). -5th day is a mini-Love Day for new or old love/summer flings [Revitalization] (Drinking and Romantic spirit). -6th day is for reminiscing on the fun times thus far [Rumination] (Fire and tell stories). -7th day is to get back to life [Staycation] (Visit family, Visit friends (LittleMissSam's Social Activities) (alternatives: Invite Guests and Attend Holiday Ceremony), and Appreciate an object). Other holidays include: -Everyone's Birthday (Spring) - This is just to give everyone a day yo celebrate themselves each year, without aging up. (Streaking, Open Presents, Decorate (spring theme), Appreciate an object, Fireworks). -Day of Passing (Winter) - A day to reunite with/remember those who've passed, and appreciate those still around. (Remembrance, Decorate (Spooky), Spooky Spirit, Festive Lighting (light candles), and Thankful Spirit). -Anniversary Day (Spring) - This comes the day before Love Day, and is to give every old love an anniversary, or simply appreciate loved ones (if single). The next day is for dating, decorating, and being lovey dovey. (Give Flowers, Art and music spirit, Air Grievances (clear out the little annoyances), Thankful Spirit, and Tell Stories). -Feast Day (Summer) - A day to eat, drink, and be merry. (Drinking, Grand Meal, Invite Guests, Barbeque, Baking, or even Cooking Competition (LittleMissSam's Social Activities)).
see this is why i love sims 4 for some reasons. it's a white canvas that you can add things by yourself. i certainly miss the seasonal festivals from sims 3 but I also love the fact that we can customize our own traditions now. still, we need more traditions added by the developers instead of always using mods :/
There is a dentist appointment mods as well as a hospital mod that allows them to go to dentist appts just like things in the real world .. cavities etc . It’s a very fun mod . The hospital mod allows them to get check ups etc
YAY! I really hope this helps, I finally got a chance to just sit and figure out what I want as a base calendar for every save! I'll be adding more to this :)
This video is very interesting, I really enjoy watching your videos ! I often play with 1 week per season, but now I want to try playing your way ! I think I'm going to give it a shot ! PS : I love love love seeing you using my builds !
I really enjoy a certain holiday that we celebrate here in the UK. It's called Guy Fawkes day. If my sims live in Windenburg, I tend to add it instead of the sims equivalent of thanksgiving. The traditions include burning a pile of leaves or a bonfire and setting off fireworks. It really is a lot of fun. My current household is also supposed to be Christian, so I set up a time on the Callander where they will go off lot and attend the "holiday ceremony". And for whatever reason my household can't attend, it doesn't affect their mood. It's great! Adds a bit of realism and diversity to my game. 😁
This is so awesome. I’m a calendar freak but these are some great ideas. I made my kids have a dance class on one day a week and made a dance studio and downloaded some animations and poses and make them dance to the radio. Also done that for cheerleading
I think that the calendar system was *the* best addition to the game honestly. It adds so much more enrichment and depth, plus you can also plan ahead or see when birthdays are. Seasons in general is such a good pack, it affects literally all aspects of gameplay
Love love love the ideas for mother's/father's day, earth day, and pride!! I'm an astrologer so I like to add Full moon/New moon days with traditions like cleaning, fire, making resolutions, inviting guests and thankful spirit just depending on the season. I also downloaded festival lots from the gallery and add a festival day for each season (ie: Winter Festival, Spring Festival) where my sims visit the lot and it has activities for them to complete all of the traditions. I also like to add a Dia de los Muertos for my Hispanic sims which includes the remembrance tradition and attending a holiday ceremony.
I did this before but it's a pain copying the holidays over to be a week long in sim time, I made ramadan for my sim family and it's so cute and immersive I love it so much 🥺🥺🥺
For Fall, I think we could do sort of a cosy bookish day. Like lighting candles, reading/writing a book and even going out to get coffee or bake cookies at home ! It would be very cute I think :)
As a Star Wars fan, I put Revenge of the Sith Day in late spring using the weenie roast icon; its activities are: Bar-B-Que, Air Grievances, Fighting, Fire and Wear Costumes. 🥴
I have a holiday called Vlad appreciation day for my vampire Sims. To appreciate the Vlad picture, fasting and the day after of course the feast day with drinking and partying. It is my favorite holiday that I have made for my Sims.
I always come back to this video to help with my calendar, its fun to make holidays just to give your sims something to do or even try. Even when I am playing with a single sim I will still play out game night where they will invite over friends to play or they just play on their own to unwind. I also have an art festival day which gives my sim a reason to leave the lot and travel to a gallery or something to give my sim multiple interest and hobbies outside of their job or aspiration.
I always have attend holiday ceremony on the religious holidays! Love the summer week off - I do a summer vacation on a Friday but never thought to do a whole week. I have all of the Hungarian memorial days, national days on my calendar - always with the grand meal & drink because we like our food & our pálinka! LOL Our Christmas is Christmas eve so that's my main winterfest one but we also have Szent Miklaus day early winter so I have father winter come then.
I don't play around with the calendar much, being able to customize it better might actually encourage me to look at it more often. Love that you added in summer vacation, it always did seem odd to me that kids don't actually get to be kids in the Sims 4 because they are always doing homework.
The calendar is such a great feature and this video will be so helpful. I always struggle, swapping and changing holidays for families as I rotate through my households but these holidays make a perfect base to start with. I love gameplay suggestions - thank you so much 💕
After your last video about holidays, I added summer and winter break for the kiddos, and I made the day after harvest fest a shopping day and day off. I also did an art appreciation day. Cook out and labor day.. and i can't forget Super Bowl Sunday. Thanks for all the ideas.
I also like doing a shorter winter break like Thursday through Sunday. I usually do winter fest eve on Thursday, winterfest on Friday, saturday I do some sort of family day, and then new years on Sunday!
I like to use LMS 21 days instead of 28. It gives me way more time and a chance to spread out the holidays. Also the seasons are more realistic for me. I like to pretend that every week is a month. I’m not sure if it’s a glitch but I’ve noticed that even when my sims complete everything it doesn’t register as finished.
I added a festivity called Father Winter's Egg Hunt for the very next day because my Sim needed to breed with him. While waiting they could simply hunt for eggs while interacting with household objects (this includes the toilet...). Once you see its potential the calendar becomes a very powerful tool for a variety of ways, apparently including collection completion, such as egg hunts.
Great Video! I play with my calendar on 28 days because I have added so many holdiays. I basically added in all the major holidays we have in real life such as memorial day, labor day, veterans day, july 4th, martin luther king day, cinco de mayo, st patricks day, etc. I also added black friday and cyber monday and basically just a christmas break. I have summer break too for the kids with a little something different on each day.
I never ever use holidays in my sims games but these all look so fun! It’s realistic too to have things like summer break and stuff in game, I’m all for it!
I love the opportunities in this pack to add new holidays! I’ve added in Easter (with egg hunting and the flower bunny), as well as Guy Fawkes Night/firework night, which is a UK thing - I don’t have the pack to have fireworks, but right after Halloween my Sims have a barbecue, light a bonfire and tell stories which I guess I think of as telling the story of Guy Fawkes/the gunpowder plot which is the backstory to the whole thing - I also tried to make up a summer holiday called “Plumbob day”, which also had Plumbob eve before it, which involved cleaning and fasting the day before and then a big celebration on Plumbob day, but it felt weird/fake so I got rid of it - but now writing about it I’m low key tempted to bring it back 😂
I add my own birthday on the calender and call it "the Birth of the Empress". Hahaha. And LittleMissSam have a mod where you can make only school have day off or only working people. It helps a lot cause its easier to make long school holidays.
Great video! I always tell myself I need to use the calendar way more and keep forgetting and when I remember I don’t know what type of “event” to do 🙃 so this is super helpful! Love all of your holiday ideas tbh 💙 Love youuuu 🌊
I've been playing the game for so long and along the way I lost all my passion for sims 4. Until I found your vids with Wren and her cats. It really helped me find the old love I used to have for the sims. Tbh I've always had a hard time going from sims 3 to 4 because of the lack of stuff to do but you have changed my gameplay so much and I just wanted to thank you for that! And I love your videoes!
Before I watch this video all I do it put Springfest (Easter) and Spookfest (Halloween) and call it a day. I have done the Super Bowl before, Summer Solstice (basically Summer Vacation) and Winter Solstice. Sometimes if I do go in depth into Holidays (making seasons 4 weeks instead of 1), I move Winterfest and New Years Eve to the third week of winter and put Lovefest in the last week (because Valentine’s Day is in February, arguably the coldest month of the year), and put Spookefest the third week of Fall and Harvestfest on the last day of fall.
Love this ideia, especially the World Plumbob. I know brazilians are famously crazy about soccer, but it's usually at least a local holiday whenever Brazil plays during the world cup. I've been given time off from work to watch the games many times. 😂 I also loved Will Wright day! Such a great idea. In one of my saves, I populated Newcrest and the story was that the Landgraabs were the founders of the city. So there was a holiday called Landgraab Appreciation Day, to celebrate them. 😂
I am so glad Carl's Sims Guide tweeted about this video. He said to watch it so here I am. I Never knew you could do all of this with the in-game calendar. I am def going to make some adjustments. Thanks so much for the video.
Tons of amazing ideas here, you've inspired me (and my stories) so much now. Thank you for the links. Sim modding and CC is a rabbit hole, one I never want to come out of.
I love these ideas! I make my Christmas 3 days long, and I always add Galentine's Day before/after Love Day for my single sims. Also, Day of the dead after Halloween. And I have a holiday called Santa is coming to town on the start of winter, because in Hungary we have a seperate holiday for Santa Claus, and he comes on that day, not on Christmas. I'm debating to add Summer vacation or not, because if my kids and teens don't go to school for a week, they don't get an A.
So many cool ideas!! I feel so motivated to play the sims now! The Will Right day XD omg! That was my favourite!! As for more Holliday ideas... I really love Respect for the Aged Day, It's a Japanese holiday. But I find it really amazing, to honour the elderly, especially when they are often so neglected in The Sims 4!
I loved this, gave me some great inspiration on how to use the calender more. I feel like I have been stuck on how I use it for a while now so this was the perfect video for me to watch at this time 😊
I have a lot of the same ideas especially the drinking on New Year’s Eve/New Years and winter fest eve. I definitely also did summer vacation for my sims bc they’re in school too much. I can’t believe they didn’t add spooky day and Bunny day by default. Fling into spring is so cute! I love the idea of Will Wright Day. On New Year’s Day I do have my sims be thankful and make resolutions and remember the sims they lost during the year. New Year’s Eve is for partying lol.
I always overlook the calendar during my playthroughs unless it's major holidays like Winterfest or Harvestfest. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely be including some of my own to my calendar in my legacy playthrough! P.S. that they don't even have a Halloween-type holiday already added onto the calendar, yet they've released a Spooky Stuff Pack 😅
Just found your content and I have to come in way late to thank you for this video it's given me so many ideas and really made the gameplay less same-same-same! 💟
Love it and the ideas from players in the comments. Makes me curious how you and others simmers use CLUBS in their games? For dates, having a bite to eat and speeddates (for my single elders lol), I use custom events by Kiara (on Patreon though, not free) Same goes for custom holiday traditions like shopping for Winterfest, visit family, go for a walk and polar plunge on New Year’s Day, eating hotpot (very popular holiday tradition where I come from and it’s new by Caradriel). Some sort of Snt. Paddy’s Day (have a drink, throw darts and have a laugh with friends).
It does help extending your calendar. I went for the longest (except for winter.. I don't like long winters in games)😅 _I only love winter irl💙 AND your ideas are nice! I like them 😊💚
I didn't know the calendar could be longer! I'm new to Sims 4 and only got base and seasons. A year in Sims is so short that I turned off aging cause I thought my Sims would die before they even meet career or romance/ family goals. Sometimes, I feel exhausted playing after a lot of holidays but bored when there aren't any but I think it'd be different to make my own or revise the calendar. Thanks!
Nice! Those are great to start off with, Seasons is my favorite expansion :) Don't worry, I play with aging off and age my sims manually OR I play on long. Happy Simming!!
Oh my goodness, these holidays are so cute and fun! I'll definitely be making some of these in my sim saves! I also didn't know that you could change the length of the seasons! Thanks for all this useful information! Holidays are really fun to create and tweak in the Sims 4
I have been wanting this for so long because I never play with Calenders, but I always say if someone makes a sort of tutorial to make me want to I will lol. Thanks
Cause you like fall I wonder how you feel about Pumpkin Spice Lattes... And btw I think you're totally right with the two weeks per season play, it didn't occur to me that this way you can squeeze in more holidays! Genius, I'll use that next time I play, I think.
@@oshinsims Thought so, hahaha! Your videos are so positive and sweet, just like PSLs. Well, I hope you get to enjoy spring seasonal drinks if there is such thing now, since we're still a long way from fall... haha :))
