Prius is the best for everything. Once you own a prius, it's hard to drive anything else, at least for me. I've driven to Maine, Canada, Florida, New Orleans, Memphis, Grand Canyon. The Prius has so much room. People think it's small but it's not. And the ability to sleep using climate control all night is very nice. Prius is a gas sipper.

Without a doubt! When we see one on the road they look so small they are deceptive like that. We sold this one but are looking for another to build out into a camping machine!

Note on umbrellas! ☂️If you’d left them behind it would have rained a LOT more!😂 It’s Murphy’s Law!😁Enjoyed seeing and hearing the 100 day trip break down! If you really want to see bears, you need to take the Cassiar Highway to the Yukon! In the fall on our way to the cabin when the bears are stuffing themselves for winter hibernation, we see so many bears! Last year counted 27!!

We laugh because we were more comfy in the Prius than some of the hotels we stayed at while traveling Europe .

@@HeresGoodTravel I get it! We loved being in Florence Italy, but the beds there were as hard as granite!

So last night I tried to sleep in an a3 Audi with my dog. Failed miserably. In Quebec with the humidity it as around 30 degrees C. The rechargeable fan failed us at 2 am. My poor dog was so hot I had to call a hotel and got their 3 am. As I have pets, it is important to me to have proper cooling/warming. I know this question has been asked a million times, but you can leave the car on and have ac right? Thanks 🙏 awesome channel !
@HeresGoodTravel
@HeresGoodTravel 9 дней назад
Yes! The Prius has a great option to leave the car in idle mode and the ac will run completely off the battery. The engine will click on when the battery runs low charge it and then go back to idle. We’ve slept through the night with it on and the engine clicks on every 2hours or so. After the first few nights we got used to the noise and it no longer bothered our sleep. This is the main reason we opted for the Prius over other cars. We slept with it on for 5 nights straight in Seattle during a humid heat wave and it saved us. We did notice the motor Mount making a little different noises and struggling a bit after our 100day adventure so that is something to look into further, we loved the Prius so much we plan to do it again in the future. Thank for watching and commenting! Check out our “Prius build video” for more info!!

@@HeresGoodTravel amazing! Thanks for answering. Do you think then the Prius is different than say Sienna or Pacifica in this regard ?

I just watched your prius tour and budget videos. I wanted to know why you didn't leave the prius in stand-by and use the climate control a/c overnight to stay cool in extreme heat? Thank you for sharing the car setup info + budgeting for car life on the road it was super helpful. 👍

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed them. We did do this periodically without issue. However when it was in the 90’s we just didn’t want to over work it. Nights that were in the mid 80’s we used this technique it came in really handy when stealth camping in Seattle and a couple other times. We were a lot title nervous doing that very often and used it as a last resort but it was a major perk and worked great. We burned about 1.5 gallons running it overnight. Towards the end we did notice the motor mounts aging a little quicker due to this processes as they have to keep the engine tight and doing that it starts every 25-40 mi utes. We had no issues and it worked really well when we needed it. We have since sold the CaRV but will be getting another one solely for this feature the next time.

Whoa that’s amazing! 1st time we camped in our Prius for 2 nights recently & I can’t wait to try something like you guys did. Any problem with the car (engine, tires, etc) while on the road? That would be my biggest concern, car issues in the middle of nowhere 😅
@HeresGoodTravel
@HeresGoodTravel 7 месяцев назад
We sold our car at about 120,000 miles with no issue. We got our oil changes on time with full synthetic and had one major ($1200) brake job. The k my thing I thought was happening was that the motor mount was wearing out so we were going to have that replaced if we were still going. We are in the market for another Prius to build out this summer! Glad you found our video to be useful! Happy adventuring!

Can you run the a/c liberally and shutting the car off? Or does it chew through batteries? Does it need to be charged daily? Thanks for any insight you can offer.

I’m considering sleeping in a car for construction projects instead of hours of driving everyday.
@HeresGoodTravel

So you start the car and put it into “ready” mode as if you were going to drive. Set the EBrake And put the AC to the desired temp. The engine will kick on to charge the hybrid battery e wry 30-45 minutes. We burn through about a gallon of gas running the AC all night long!
