Just FYI for all those who are doing this challenge, the earliest pregnancy test evidence we have comes from ancient Egypt in 1350BCE. A papyrus described a test in which a woman who might be pregnant could urinate on wheat and barley seeds over the course of several days: “If the barley grows, it means a male child. If the wheat grows, it means a female child. If both do not grow, she will not bear at all.” Testing of this theory in 1963 found that 70 percent of the time, the urine of pregnant women did promote growth, while the urine of non-pregnant women and men did not. So, doing pregnancy tests for this challenge is technically historically accurate. Hope this helps!
@@blackbeautysister3 Yup, flour too. It's kind of a pain. I always just queue up a ton of "pick up servings" until the bowls are empty and then I put the individual servings in the larder/cabinet/fridge.
You can actually make salt by getting salt water from the docks (an option under the sign post you've been using for hunting and foraging so far), and then using the new option that should be on the stove. You can also make food that doesn't spoil using it, like salted meat. You can also sell most of the things you forage or hunt at the cottage living town farmer's stalls. There's also a mod from icemunmun that allows you to grow wheat and turn the wheat into flour, and it's compatible with the medieval cooking mod you've been using so far.
There is a mod called home regions where you can set which towns can visit. So only your sims will be there. Also you can use mcc dresser to disable non medieval clothing so random townies wont annoy you. Loving the lets play so far!
Thank you! I have the home regions mod I just haven’t added enough sims so it still populates new sims but once I get enough added we’ll be good to go! AND I will definitely be looking into how to do the thing with clothing!
A combination of zero’s “no random townies” and lotharihoe’s “sim spawn overhaul” will keep only the sims you want to show up in your save. They’re only slightly complicated to implement, but luckily both of the creators have very detailed mod descriptions. In love with this series, btw. 🙆🏻♀️
wow, im so impressed by the amount of effort you put into making your sim world look genre! it blows my mind that you're going to do the same for other decades too, I'm so excited to see more from this series and super inspired to do it myself.. though I'm not sure I have the patience you do, so I may have to live vicariously through you
yesss....I hate when glitches break the immersion. Most of it I just edit out but I thought it was too funny and random to take out the part of the Queen. I have a couple of ideas to work that into the storyline down the line... I will definitely be fleshing out their backstories as we go through the gameplay. I introduce a new character in the next episode that gives a tiny bit of backstory. I usually like to play with the Sims for a little while then I start to get a feel for their personalities and can develop their stories more!
12:32 I think it makes more sense to age the baby up and then do the dice roll. This isn’t actually how they are, but it makes sense to me that they die because something went wrong when they aged up. Again, not how it actually is, but that’s how it seems since we do roll at those time rather than random smaller odd rolls while they are in those ages. And yes, the roll that says “babies” is when they are born and roll that says infants is when they age into being infants. I’ve seen a few simmers who roll both of these, since the baby stage only lasts a day, when the baby is born. I know one simmer who rolls all aging rolls when each new baby is born so she knows exactly how long each sim will survive outside of maternity rolls, and things such as famines, decease, and war.
I've been saying it for a while and I will say it again, it would be a lot of time (and money) but imagine how cool it would be in the sims4 if when you press "new game", a text would show up (kinda like when you choose which season you want to start in) and it would ask you to choose a time period to play in back to the 1300's to the present, and based on your choice you'd get different CAS items, build mode items, jobs, interractions, recipes etc. Without mods. It will probably forever stay a dream but IMAGINE 😭
i’m loving all the ways u’re making this series so immersive ( bg music , carriage , outro , etc ) ! i’ve never enjoyed this type of gameplay myself but so excited to see someone play w it ! u can get the no random townies mod if u want to make ur life easier :+)
Just a recommendation, I hid a computer room in a 'basement' so I could change the lifespans for the sims. Love the outfits! Can't wait to see how this family progresses through the ages!
I've been wanting to have my sims try to live in medieval times, so this challenge is actually a pretty good find! I really like the clothing and furniture cc, and the tax collector's last name being McCrook is just comical
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR 1K SUBSCRIBERS and all of the LOVE you have been giving this series!!! 🥰🎉🥰 RU-vid has been a dream of mine forever so THANK YOU for being a part of this journey!! I can't wait to see where we go from here! MUCH LOVE! -Shay
Thank you so much! There was a survey recently where EA asked what type of world we would like, medieval or futuristic. I for sure voted medieval! Fingers crossed!!
Your sims household has to own the selling table for it to work. Purchase it when you are on your home lot, put it into your sims inventory, and then travel to the community lot.
I haven't played or watched any sims 4 content in a while because instead i went back to playing sims 3 , but watching this series REALLY makes me want to try out this medieval challenge and go back to playing sims 4! This series is awesome! Congrats on getting 1k subs, can't wait to see this series get even more recognition, have a blessed day ☻
Eating boiled eggs as I watch this 😂. YESSSS I am hoping at least one of our children survive into adulthood and we can marry them into The Royal Family.
I can’t believe you just started RU-vid, you’re a natural!! I’m very picky when it comes to sims videos and I’m obsessed!! Idk if you feel comfortable using a webcam to show your face while playing, but if you do, you should do so!! Most viewers like seeing your reactions to certain things and it’s just easier to “connect” 😊 Can’t wait to see more videos
Thank you so much!! 🥰🥰 that means si much cause I’m also super picky! I’m 100% fine showing my face. I stream 4 nights a week on twitch with face cam. I just want to get my editing process down a bit before I do face cam cause I don’t want it to be extra jumpy when I make the cuts, if that makes sense. But I’ll add face cam soon!
New favourite series to watch!! There’s a mod by zero called ‘no random townies’ that prevents the game spawning new townies that could be useful if you don’t want non medieval sims spawning during gameplay, it would just mean that you’d need to add your own if you need any specific roles 😊
Thank you! I was looking into but I wasn’t sure how to set it up but I’ll watch some videos on it to see if I can get it working cause I would love that level of control. I also have the Home Region mod so at least I’m limiting specific sims to Windenburg!
The queen randomly showing up and doing housework is easily the funniest thing. Makes me wonder for story purposes tho if Rosaline ends up being related to the Queen dun-dun! Lol they do look very similar.
Thank you!! I have already added the mod that just removes it completely and I'm obsessed! A fluffy rug sounds super fun though for my modern-day save!
@@kosmichippie oh yay! just started the series and loving it so far (i also watch your regular decades challenge) and yes the fluffy rug is so cute def recommend!
I struggled with the Butter too but I found out that its a tub of butter and it has a few servings so if you click on it, it will come up with a grab a serving or pick up a serving and then you will get a stick of butter that you can use in recipes hope that helped if you haven't already figured it out!!!
Creator "nervelli" on "modthesims" made a mod called "Infant Rug Override" that has a no rug file. That way, you don't get the mat/rug everytime an infant is placed down. Also, love this series. ^^ 🤍 Also, with the MCCC mod, you can set the MC Population and make the townies spawn from your gallery only. That way you don't get random Sims spawning in. For the Flea Market table, I believe that issue happens a lot if it isn't a *collected* item (eg. with foraged items from a dumpster or gifted items, the issue occurs). Also, unsure if you did this, but: select "clear table" just in case, place the items on the table, and then select "tend table."
THANK YOU! You don't know how much I cannot stand that infant rug even in regular gameplay so def snagging that. And I'll test that out with the marketplace table!
I only just started watching so I don’t know if this has been covered but to combat the issues with the inn you could get the mod that stops townies from leaving their respective towns. This way u can make a town full of medieval styled villagers and only they’d turn up to the inn without you having to restyle every townie in game😅😊
Thank you!! 🥰 I’m not sure if I can release the save since I put in lots from other creators but I will get the lots that I built uploaded soon with a link to the CC I used if you want to download it. I’m going to look into how to do that through curseforge or the sims resource
@@kosmichippie thanks so much! Between your lists of cc, mods etc and creations, I just want to download everything! Excited to tackle this challenge myself. I love your setup and attention to detail and the story thus far! Looking forward to more!
You should download the mod that stop respawning the random townies, you can make sims (for this challenge) and put them in your library and they will respawn, i did this and like i’m no longer bothered with the random townies, the only thing it did was respawning townies from my library which is so much better than the random ones!
This is definitely the next step I want to take for the save! Originally I wanted to have all of my townies done before I started but I got inpatient and just had to start!
@@kosmichippie it’s okay, you can do 1 to 2 sim a day if needed, but you can stop the respawning first with the mod, it won’t respawn if you don’t have a sim, plus i love that they respawn with random jobs as filling it up, i had one sim who was pretty and got respawn as a maid and like WHAT SHE’s TOO GOOD FOR THAT LMAO 😂😂
loving the series! just wanted to let you know that there's a mod that gets rid of infant mats. also, I think there is a roll for how many times the parents are allowed to try for children.
Thank you! I actually added the no infant mat mod and I'm loving it!! I will definitely look back at the rules on the "try for a baby" roll. I remember it applying to side households but I may have misread it on the main household. There's so many rules 😅
I’m loving this already! I’ve always wanted to watch a decades challenge but I’ve only found some that are already so far ahead. So I’m excited to start this from the beginning!
Loving the series so far! You actually inspired me to try the challenge myself. Also, a little tip that might help with the 'spiders' (and add up to the household chores) is the functional broom by MizoreYukii.
Thank you so much! I actually do have the functional broom but it doesn't work because we don't have an actual floor. I'm just using terrain paint for the dirt floor so once we have a floor I will def be using the broom!
Hello from Austria 🇦🇹 😊Well, I just found this video and your channel and it was a must have for me to subscribe immediately! The style (sims, lot, neighbourhood and all cc/mods) is really perfect 👍 I love all these realistic cc/mods and also your gameplay 🤗 Thanks a lot for all links to the used cc/mods . Very helpful for me to create such a challenge as well. You inspire me a lot 🤩 Normally I don’t write many comments but this video/series is wonderful. I’m in love 😍
This is such a gorgeous Let's Play. I've subscribed and will definitely follow along. As i commented on episode one, i get that it would be tempting to give then a horse when the pack comes out, but honestly there is no way that a medieval family as poor as this would have a horse - in reality even pulling a small cart would be a donkey at best, and a plough would be drawn by a bullock. Which is not helpful since these aren't available in TS4. They might have a goat though!
Thank you so much!! 🥰 That’s a great point!! Maybe we’ll hold off on the horse for a while cause this family is super poor. I got some tips on how to leverage the blacksmithing skill better so hopefully things pick up and we can at least afford a goat 😅
"Take care of the diaper for mom"? That's his child too! I know you're probably doing the medieval mindset but still 😅 I know too many people think like this present day and the birthing parent is still expected to do the majority of childcare despite their bodies already having gone through so much trauma! I'm a new godparent so this hit home lol Anyway I'm really enjoing this series, so glad was in my recommended. Makes me want to play Sims Medieval so bad but it doesn't work on my new laptop 😭 Such a good game. These look like really fun (if time-consuming to set up!) mods though. Thanks for sharing 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective! It's definitely important to speak on the equal responsibility between parents. I was definitely just taking more of the "medieval perspective" but I really don't even like following those things even in challenges even if that's how it was at the time. I really appreciate you calling it out and bringing awareness to the topic! 🥰 Also I couldn't get Sims Medieval to work on my PC either about a month ago so that's mainly why I started this challenge instead...I wonder if something is just wrong with it. I'm in the process of adding more lots to my game then I may release my save file but it will definitely be mod/cc/PC heavy unfortunately just due to the nature of it
I find that it's a lot less menu's to go through to feed the baby is to be the baby, click on mother, then choose be fed by and bam, the mother will feed baby the way the feeding preference you chose.
Sorry for my comment 😅 I was just now in the bathroom mining my own business 😂 and I was thinking about this challenge and I come into YT and your channel pops up with this challenge 😊 so weird! So yeah am watching it because I want to know what is it about! Of course I have to go watch ep1 😊 I also subs ❤
Thank you! It's because of my reshade. Unfortunately it kind of blurs out the UI and makes it hard to read. I will try to play around with the settings
Omg this is so awesome. I wish I had a pc so I could do things like this. Also!!! Since you still don’t have a name for the cow OR the chickens!! I think the cow should be named after a flower maybe. Like Lily or ooo maybe Tulip!! Now the Chickens, the rooster should be named Tuck or something. He seems like a tuck. Maddie or the black hen, and the white should be named Sheila. The little chick if it’s a rooster should be named Finn and if it’s a girl maybe Robin hehe lol. Love this series so far :)
I just found this series but seeing the amount of effort you are putting into this series, I have to subscribe!! I absolutely cannot wait to see how this series goes! I’m completely binging it 😭✋🏻🩷
It's part of the Royalty Mod by llazyneiph. You have to have the "Peasant House" lot trait on and then the Trader will automatically show up on Sun, Wed and Fri in game.
