Here's a tip though, if no one has already addressed it, when you rinse the mit squeeze it outside the bucket instead of back into the bucket so it keeps your rinse water cleaner longer and when it gets low just refill.
Man oh man black cars - I’ve bled black many times over the years. Great video. Given I’m not a detailing business I’d only have my vehicle to worry about. When washing I’d have about 12 mitts soaking in the wash solution. The wash wash solution costs enough (as does everything), so you may as well soak as much solution as you can all through your wash mitts ready to go. Use one, throw it in the bucket, you’ve got another freshly soaked sudsy mitt ready to go. Once you have the mitts it’s a no brainer, and you get way more from your wash solution. It’s easy to build em up through b’days/Xmas/Father’s Day etc, beats gettin socks and jocks💪💪
1. all wheel cleaner, let dwell, and rinse 2. foam bath and rinse car 3. two bucket method with wash plus 4. dry 5. Clay bar the car 6. Ultimate Compound 7. Ultimate Polish 8. Ultimate Wax, let cure 9. Ultimate all black to replenish plastic 10. Fast Finish for added protection 11. Clean up with Quik Detailer 12. Finish wheels with ultimate tire shine. Just got all the equipment gathered and I'm going to accomplish this for the first time this weekend on my black car. I decided to get into detailing ever since we've been on quarantine, I appreciate these videos. Thanks for the info!
But it's totally worth it. I bought many more products than I ever have before, but if you follow their recommendations, the results can be terrific. My neighbors are loving how my old VW looks as though it had a paint job. And you'll have a kit to use going forward. Worth the outlay of cash.
I bought my wife a 2016 golf last weekend and just detailed it this weekend following this video. It looks brand new! I went to 4 different stores trying to put this ultimate collection together. Still couldn't find the wash and pre wash but found everything else. The compound gave me a lot of trouble but I'm sure the $20 orbital detailer wasn't helping the situation. At the end of the day I think my first time detailing my own car was very successful! Thanks!
Would have been nice to see the after in the same spotlight lighting as the before and not in a more flattering flat light so we could actually see if it did any good.
@@NeoJSskhe showed u detailed, step by step , how to do this process that woulda cost over $500+++ at any detail shop and you, didn’t give a like because he didn’t “zoom into the paint to show any visible scratches”? 😂😂😂 tf 😂😂😂 u would like that 1 customer that gets his car wash at a drive thru automatic wash and still complain about how dirty it is and make them wash it again lol😂
Cant argue with the finish guys, but what the hell happened to the decontamination stage? No fallout and no tar and bug removers? And also not a detailing brush in sight? I cant help but think that's part of why the paint looked so crap after they clay bar stage? Maybe it's just me. I dunno. But if I'm doing a full detail on my car then it's getting tar and bug and a damn good coating of Korrosol before it even sees a clay bar.
Decontamination with an IronX or the like is preferred. However when black paint is already in this piss poor condition to begin with it truly begins to be a waste of product when what little possible marring of the paint was caused by the clay bar will far and away be removed way before the deeper scratching and swirling is removed. Therefore going that extra step (in this case and with other very poorly maintained vehicles) it is not a necessity when the steps after will be removing all of that anyways just in the normal process. But you are correct. I would always use one on my own personal car, only because the paint is in incredible condition.
Hi, I've been following and watching many of your detailing videos and I followed this one for my black metallic car and it came up absolutely AMAZING!!! Huge thanks for making great products and excellent videos. My car looks brand new now!!!
What a result, great job. Now I know why I decided to keep the Ultimate compound and Polish...they simply do a great job for detailing enthusiasts. The Wash Plus is my favourite shampoo when I start a complete detailing process. Love these products...👍
They really did a great job with this car the only thing I would change would be not to use the detailing spray with the clay bar basically all of them have a wax in them and you want your paint clean and free of any wax before you add any long lasting hard wax. This car was pretty swirled up, but wasn't faded so the heavy compound was probably not needed just the polish. I'd recommend only using the compound in heavy faded spots and only using polish in between long periods on not waxing.
Yep agree, the compound just stripped the clearcoat back. For some reason its a big secret, but if you strip the paint, your doing just that stripping a layer of something away from it. It all comes down to the buffer but to be honest. Id use the wax only with the buffer and then do it a second time
Unfortunately all cars have to this extent some scratches and swirls, black cars just show them much more then any other color. Also, hand polishing, drying ect, by hand does more harm then good. My mustang I bought was supposed to be fairly new condition, but instead since it was hand waxed and washed several times for car shows, the car ended up with much much more scratches and swirls by the previous owner.
I've got two black cars with notoriously soft paint from VAG (Seat and Porsche) . One 9 yrs old and one 7. Both have hardly a mark on them and they are fastidiously hand cleaned and dried every week. The car shown in this video shows all the signs of being washed regularly in a car wash. I use Maguires ultimate compound/polish/wax or the Auto Glym equivalents, so they do work. I've recently tried an expensive carnauba wax on the Porsche and it's not as good as Maguires ultimate. So, despite the miserable bloke in the video, I'll stick to what works :)
@@Mike_Power not sure it really matters if you’re planning on correcting the paint afterwards. Also, if it’s an abrasive you’ll want to go in straight lines bc it’ll refract the light less
Great job, love these vids... I love black cars and bought a new one in October last year. I need to start putting together the equipment to keep it looking beautiful.. I never realised that black cars seem to need the most care
Brilliant. Loved the step by step explanations. I've always used the products- but probably not correctly. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Many thanks
13:02 yeah, it didn't remove that light scratch even after compound and polishing. And also as it's silicone based after of couple of washes all the silicone and shine will be gone and most of the old scratches will be back.
I been using Meguiars ever since I got my first car I still drive to this day. I had finally stepped a chance 2 years ago to use a DA polisher and the ultimate compound and polish. It was a 10 hour job but worth it in the end. Car looks better than ever considering it was used when I purchased it
@@savageramirez2925 Not uncommon. If you pay for a pro detail, those guys can have your car for 2 days to do both outside and inside. Hence it costs a lot to get a pro to do it
Got the winter cleaning kit on deal at halfords, the hybrid ceramic wax is great but gonna be buying into the ultimate collection for summertime. Looking forward to my paintwork being a mirror finish just like that
@@broganchapman975 I wish I could but with the pandemic sadly everything is slow and a lot of places have hinted they don’t want a female worker. But I won’t give up!
@@broganchapman975 I wholeheartedly agree. I have my dads love of cars and it shows. Having a passion for something even for cars shows through the hard work and attention to detail
I have seen so many videos where detailers just say and apply stuff on a shiny new car where us (viewers) watching it on youtube cant really tell the difference. THIS however changed my mind. I just bought a black rav4 and was looking to find ways to keep it in this glossy finish. Great video. Clearly shows the difference. Too much background noise though. You should definitely do another one with some less noise just because the way you teach how to apply in every step is very easy to understand even as a newbie. 👍👍
Happily i can get these products here in France, all three of my vehicules get the Meguiars TLC all year round, they all look like new even with the long summers and UV levels at paint killing levels, even my old 1995 Renault Trafic 2.1D looks like it came out of factory yesterday, excellent video guys.
It took me almost all day to wash dry Clay compound polish and Wax my car. But gives brilliant results. I just hope the swirls and light scratches don’t come back. I use 2 bucket method. With Meguires Ultimate wash and Wax. Along with Meguires wash mit and Drying Towel.
@carmad51 Lol, i hate it when people buy cars to pick up girls...its a douche move. A true player knows all you need is a mouth piece and i dont care if you look ugly you can still get them girls. I bought my mustang to race around and drive fast, cant lie tho some girls are attracted by it.
I own a 2018 Cadillac Escalade Platinum with Black Metallic Paint and black leather interior. I used the ultimate polish for the whole car after decontamination and ultimate compound behind the door handles and in high traffic areas. But I didn't use wax I got a ceramic coating done. But the ultimate all wheel cleaner works miracles on my Escalade. Brings the tires back to black and the wheels look brighter too.
Great break down on each item used. I have a black Tahoe that I bought brand new in 2005 it still look great, but I made the mistake of trying the waterless carwash ya well we all know what happened next if ya look into it for to long you get sea sick lol. So I'm going Step for step what you just showed me so hope I can fix this
Really enjoyed the vid; as a DIY I use a variety of products to include Meg’s-their wash, compund, polish and wax are all great. Less harsh than the compound is their #6 cleaner for not so tough jobs. Also use the interior cleaner and leather conditioner which has a good scent. However, I use Cerakote on plastic trim (sorry Meg’s but this stuff is the bomb) and Invisible Glass for windows. For wheels and tires I use their Ultimate Wheel cleaner diluted 50% in a bottle and just abount any tire dressing as most are silicone based. Keep up the R&D!!
How many pads did yoy use in every step? how much time does this work takes? wich is better, the correction compound system (microfiber pads) or ultimate compound? thank you.. (from GDL, MEX)
Pro tip, don't apply aerosol tire shine outside after you have done your final wipe down,do it before wipe down, inside. Other then that i use the ultimate line daily.
Agree, I wouldn’t use the spray can tire shine at all… Spray gets all over wheels and paint and leaves “greasy spots “ especially from driving, greasy spots all over the rear side… I usually buy tire gel or bottle spray and soak it onto a micro fiber and wipe down the sidewalls… much better
Great video , only thing I noticed is during the paint correction you turned off tube lights and had the square lighting on to show defects. Then after paint correcting was done you turned the light that showed defects off and the tube lights on to show only shine😂
Sure meguiars make half this stuff up to sell you more products. The main things are a good scratch remover for deep scratchs (only applied to areas in need of attention) good compound polish for faded paintwork, finishing polish for a very fine finish and then wax for protection. I use a good quality hand moisturizer for interior leather (I use E45) it's a bit greasy to start but once it's soaked in it look like new and is no longer greasy feeling.
I always look forward to these vids coming out. Despite the same processes being demonstrated on most of the Day in the Bays, I find myself hooked. I also really enjoy the production value Patrick 👍🏻
Have used Ultimate Compound before on a nighthawk black civic type r, absolutely revived the panel. The purple speckles in the paint were glowing. Tough to do on the whole car by hand though, need a bit more daylight before trying again. Or a DA polisher!!
Sealing the finish with the fast finish, doesn't half add more life span to the protection... get a good deal longer protection doing that.. nothing looks better than a detailed black car especially one that now has a deep shine like that stang..wow!
I love the ultimate series products they do really well especially on black as demonstrated I have a black truck and a black mustang Gt my only gripe is their clay bars tend to leave a milky white residue behind even after wiping the area clayed I prefer to use a clay rag or a mothers speed clay to cover more surface area but leave behind no residue other than that every product I use is ultimate and before ultimate released i used gold class
Just a question, I've never used an electric buffer, but when all the costs of protection has gone over time, how long does all the costs last, and when all the protection has gone, looking closely again at the paint work do you still see those swirl marks which I still think today is caused by the electronic buffer.... Just thinking outside the box. Can someone give me a true answer. Thanks for this video, interesting. How much is a 4/5stage valeting kit???? Reason why I've just brought a black motor only a year old not done nothing to it yet....
I am now the proud owner of a bmw 430d m sport with a nice 3 piece splitter, skirts and rear defuser in metallic black with coral red interior....has some stone chips on the bonnet 😒.....I have purchased quite a few of your products and have watched a lot of your tutorials.....if you really want to show off how good your products are I would be willing to come and see you for the day and of course help too!!!😁would make a great video!!!!😉🤣 Paul.
