Yeah cuz the grace points from him to you, telling him to fight you in the same way as the grace moving towards bosses in game. Also there was a third tarnished who got close to the throne, vyke (the guy on the game cover) he was the first tarnished to get two great runes (somehow he managed to get great runes besides the ones we have, enia says “only once before have I seen 2 great runes united”) and he got extremely close to becoming a lord. When he approached the fire giant though, shabriri told him that his maiden woukd have to burn in order to complete his mission, and that instead he could burn himself with the frenzied flame to spare her. He went down to the frenzied flame and was touched by it, turning him insane, and when he went back his maiden was dead, sending him into an even deeper state of frenzy. There are two of vyke because one still watches over the corpse of his maiden and stands above the villagers who summon an apparition of the frenzied flame with their collective suffering, while the other sits locked in an evergaol, but without being taken over by the frenzied flame. This implies that his vengeful spirit with the flame still harbors anger and guards the town, while his real body was locked away (maybe by himself) to stop the flame.

my assumption is Radahn actually said yes in the beginning (the moment of the ending cutscene plays) and refused in the end because he didn't know about the whole charming thing about Miquella. He's a prideful warrior, so i don't think he would like the whole concept of mind controlling people even if the reason is for the greater good, but also i don't think Radahn is as innocent as people thought he is. This is also why Miquella says things like "the vow was honoered", because Radahn promised him to be his consort back in the day. also, this is just some fun speculation, but the trope of big burly warrior man but also a dumb dumb, so my funny theory is Radahn isn't even taking Miquella's vow as something serious because in his eyes Miquella was a little child. (this also correlate with many many writing cliche in japanese media (mainly anime but also in some romance tv shows) where 2 kid promised to marry each other in the future but only one of them is taking those promised seriously and the other one only thinking it as a joke of a child). there's this argument about Freyja's word of Radahn actually would be happy to be resurrected, but i don't think he would be happy, especially knowing the context of his resurrection. Freyja only seeing Radahn in the lens of his subordiante, led by this carricature of the "Gallant" Lion. but Jerren is actually Radahn's friend, so i think we supposed to take Freyja's word in the opposite direction. and i forgot whose video, but the guy saying that Radahn actually approved being resurrected based on cut dialog is just plain dumb. i don't like people who bring up cut content because "it's gives so much more context" but they're cut content for a reason. they got removed because it would hinder in some way or form.

Is it, though? Radahn's soul isn't fully attained, that's pretty much explained. The body is most likely running on instincts that a war god would have, it's shown constantly that the 'essence' of an individual can live on, and fight, past a person's death or missing nature. That's shown more than a couple times throughout the games.

@@ilhamadigunawan5264 The thing is we don't know what Radahn exactly wants because he's never spoken in-game. The most of an opinion we can form of him is through his subordinates. We can't get into his psychology and beliefs of how he feels working with Miquella. Maybe he sees Miquella as a way for him to become the strongest warrior because Godfrey did the same with Marika, and he wants to follow in Godfrey's footsteps. Maybe even he fears Miquella's power of compulsion and goes along with it anyway. Or maybe he really did go against Miquella because his Age of Compassion doesn't exactly promise eternal war. We can't really be 100% sure of what Radahn would want. I think there's enough evidence to argue both sides, but regardless of how you argue it, there was a vow between those two and Malenia, and it was honored in some way. How it was honored, we might not ever know.

@@ZeroReaper42 yep, i agree. It's fun to speculate what Radahn actually thinks and wants based on so little yet nuanced way people talk about him, but in the end of the day we are just making assumptions.

The game directly says “miquilla was cursed with eternal youth of body and mind” Sure he’s smart, but hes also as ignorant as a 13 year old to the core nature of people and the world

@@velhokala8456Yeah don’t remember hearing that either. Everything about Miquella pre-DLC always implied to me that he was a powerful genius trapped in an enfeebled child body.
