I'm a US expat and have been living abroad for 30 years: Thailand, China, and (currently) Japan. I travel extensively, particularity to teach my 13 year old daughter about flexibility. Changes in governmental structures, social unrest and climate change necessitate mobility. Keep as many doors open as possible.

As a Canadian, Canada's future is bleak. My hope is in my two young children who have dual citizenships. One of the best gifts we gave to them was another language and culture early on such that they readily adapted to their new place when we escaped Canada two years ago. We have also saved for them a sizeable amount of gold.

The main reason I’m heavily into gold is for my older years. Uncle Sam doesn’t know I have any and never will. I don’t plan on sell over $9,999.99 when selling. My state has no sales tax on Au or Ag either 🙂

funny you brought this topic up today. I just hit my current goal yesterday had my last half ounce show up to push 20 oz. Took me awhile as well you cant do it all at once 6 years to accomplish this goal but pretty happy with it. Taxes in Spain are insanely high, I wouldn't recommend becoming a citizen here unless there is a good reason. Access to stacking from online stores or transacting PMs between stackers works pretty well here tho.

Let me explain, I have never mentioned this on the internet before. I left U.S. because it’s a falling empire like every previous empire. All I will admit is I’m in Central America and I love my freedom here ! I rent a very nice furnished apartment 4 years now all included, gas, electric , water, trash underground parking .No mail no bills ZERO fix nothing ! I pay $12.50 a day $375 a month , no car I can go any wear in the city in a taxi for $2.50, bus under 50 cents. The town is very walkable and good for you. I went to the doctor today $4 bucks normal price.sometimes I tip the doctor $5 bucks ,I also have full health coverage $87usd a month , you will never receive a hospital bill everything is included even meds No deductible , living the dream ! Let say a house, or condo for example costs $250.000 usd rent doesn’t move much here unless a bunch of American ,Canadians move here and usually ruin the place for all of us ! That’s one of the reasons I left C.R. It got very expensive ,Very over rated also. Back to my point I always owned but will never again , here’s why if my expenses went to let’s say5k a year in ten years $50.000 usd I saved $200.000 or more not buying a house no taxes ,insurance ,repairs. I will be 77 years old with 200k for someone to cook clean wipe me if necessary get the point . Then again I might be dead !

Got remarried to an amazing non-citizen. This led to having a small house and a palmeto farm in a tropical place. My wife has two passports and four languages; my daughter has three passports and three languages. Do I like the options this presents us with? You bet. Now, if I were just brave enough to start carrying some gold with me when travelling back to our "other home". Even with the right forms, I distrust the uniforms at the other end to obey the same rules and follow the process. The USA is still where it's at.

My parents and I legally immigrated to the US in the 80s. I was just a boy. In my heart I grew up loving America. Sad to see what the Nation many immigrated to has become worse than the native lands we left. For this reason I am working towards getting a dual Filipino-US citizenship. In case I have to flee to protect my family. I would rather stay and fight. But it’s good to have backup plan.

Try this goal. Build your reserve stack of cash first. Live well below your means by having good habits. Keep your car a long time before replacing it, you'll save on tax's & insurance. Take your lunch to work, make your coffee at home, etc. Always avoid sales tax on PM'S if your in CA never buy less than 2K, in CT 1K, etc. It's a big hurdle to buy a full oz of gold but you are saving $ by doing this. Look at the buy back price from dealers and compare the spread over spot. Its better to get generic low cost silver than eagles when starting out. Feel good that your exchanging one currency for another. Hold on for 5 years minimum, 20 years is better.

hmm, I'm still staking mostly silver. I'm still of the mindset gold is for kings silver is for gentlemen. I do have some 1/10 oz gold eagles but the premium on them doesn't seem like the best route to go anymore. I did get some gold backs after you did the video on them a few weeks back, not because they are a good way to stack but just because I thought they looked cool and I like the idea that there are business out there that will accept them as payment.

I've watched your YT channel for several years 3-4 years. You've given some great perspective on buying and possessing gold. I appreciate your laid back style, your advise to not act or react to PM "fear porn". Today I noticed a "pocket watch" in the background of a tasteful scene you always present. Is that a 22kt gold 24-hour foldable sundial roughly based on an accurate watch mechanism. Only the Sun, an accurate timepiece or a magnetic compass would be needed to set it up in the proper direction. Maybe it contains its own wind-up daily or self-wind mechanism? Maybe it's a sextant? I suspect I am completely on the wrong track and my speculation has "run off the rails". For all I know it's a gizmo, a framus, a thingamabob, a doohickey, a dingus, a dooblidoo, etc. Something totally unrelated to my above speculations. Framus was a term invented by my paternal Grandmother. For an object with no apparently use. Or an item whose 2-D diagram or drawing was inconsistent with a proper 3-D object. Think of M C Escher and his drawings of stairs that always go up while going around a building. She tried to use it frequently in Scrabble when I was a kid. Until we all caught on to her ruse. Sorry for rambling. Would you please tell what that object is and how it works. Thanks Much.

I’m not a new silver stacker, but AM a new gold stacker. I recently played the gsr to trade my SE date book for enough cash to get my first 1/2 oz Lunar dragon. Id like to get on a similar purchasing schedule with gold as regularly as I am with silver. Generally, I place a 300-350 order for silver every week, in addition I snipe whatever rounds I can snipe for spot or lower as well….how much of that fiat should I reallocate to gold monthly in your opinion? Phew, if those are the national averages, I’d imagine some people are eating ramen noodles with some hot dog slices. Guess it all truly depends on where u live. Some states, with $300k, you’ll get a nice home, others you might pick up a piece of property and be living in a yurt, some others and you’re renting a studio. I’m American. I missed out on dual Canadian citizenship by three months in the 90s. (I was moved back to the States.) I missed that status for twenty years, as it would have helped with travel to enter under different passports at times. But now, seeing what JT has done to the country I once loved, I don’t miss not having Canadian citizenship anymore.
