Is there a 12" pa speaker that is just a good solid quality speaker with out all the DSP/bluetooth/app and other tech? I have a band (drum, bass, guitar, singer) and we use a "quiet" stage. So we have a nice mixer Allen and heath cq18t that does all the eqing and effects, so we don't want to have to fiddle with speaker tech when our mixer does it and we can save the settings for different venues. We would use iem and a Roland kit so we need 2 12s and a 15 or 18 sub. And any recommendations? I do t want to pay for tech I already have and wouldn't use, but I don't know if that exists.
It is my understanding that the Alto TS18S Subs actually do not have a crossover in them, while the TS415's do have a crossover which sets via the "sub size" selector. I believe Alto recommends running your source into the TS415 first, and then out to the sub from the mix out of the TS415. Can you confirm which method is proper/gets the best results??
11:20 am. How would I use Mackie BTS 15s Thumps With Alto powerd subs ? On the 15s it says live plus subs. I want to buy two subs Atlos. But not if they won't work with Mackies. Thank you. Atlos is cheaper
hi, can someone please explain why the information / instructions sent with the 18inch sub say the speaker / tops should be in mic mode when connecting the tops when to the sub but your video say otherwise, i am confused, please help... many thanks
You would only use MIC mode if you are connecting a dynamic microphone directly to the input of the speaker. Any other source will damage the speaker if you use MIC mode.
🕑 - where is unity on the 412 (or any 4 series PA tops)? Is it at full volume? I hear you mention you can put it full volume as you’ve paired it with an alto mixer… what would one do for another brand, or a DJ controller for instance? Do you ever try to balance the subs and the tops with dB testing at different frequencies or simply by ear? Thank you for your great videos :) George
I'm just weirded out with this, why does the line level need the maximum level to be loud? I just find it weird, i was surprised when i was using it with a mixer and setting the volume to 12noon it was so quiet
Greetings sir please I have a question I want to buy ALTO WIRELESS PRO FOR MY ACTIVE SPEAKERS IS RCF ART 500A POWER SPEAKERS but my subwoofer is passive, my tops is active I can use the alto wireless on it cable on the subwoofer will it sound on same frequency or one will be faster than the other please I need help thank you
Thanks for the amazing walk through. I have 2 alto subwoofers ts315s and two top 315. Would you suggest that I put them on unity and control overall volume on the mixing board (for djing) or shall I go all the way up the maximum volume available for each speaker l, and control it from there? Thanks in advance
Unity is the top of the line level on the TS315 after that your transitioning to Mic.( 12 O'clock) you can push it up to around (Two O'clock), but now your over clocking your pre-amp.
Seems like no one can get you to answer this... maybe because you sell both brands. Which do you like better, the Harbinger's or Alto's? I am wanting to get a pair of 15's and a single 18 but can't decide between the 2.
With altos top speakers, i have noticed if you use both inputs with a Y cable, it seems to give you more of a loudness. Can you do a video trying this out? Not sure if its just me or its a fact that you get more out of the speaker or not. I usually use one sub connected to left and right alto tops and use a Y xlr to use both inputs on the tops.
Great question. Now, with the mic/line switch, you can turn up the speaker as loud as it is safe, not pushing the limit light. This question would make a great video in the near future.
Sir, I have a question. If I have the same setup (2xTS415 and 1xTS18s) can I use bluetooth input for sound into the TS415 linked together, and then connect each output of the TS415 into R and L of the sub. In other words is the bluetooth signal transmitted to the output. and if it is, is their any benefit in doing this?
The bluetooth signal is not transmitted to the "mix out" jack on the TS415, so you cannot use a subwoofer with the bluetooth input. Seems kind of pointless that way, but it is what it is.
Hey, can you help me please..I boght an alto ts415 and I don't know how to adjust the bass to it. I mean usually there is a knob that says bass or trevel, but not on this one. And even on the alto app. I can't get get it to be more bassy. So please could you tell me how to adjusted from the app. Thanks and have a great day..
First make sure the speaker is set to "no sub" mode. Also, using the "DJ" sound setting will increase low end response. The app does have eq settings, I believe it is a multi-band parametric EQ that you have to set in the app and then upload to each speaker one at a time.
I’m always torn between 15 or 12 tops with my EV ELX200 18 Subs. I’ve never used 15s but debating trying. We’re a live rock band that goes 100% direct. Guitars, bass, e drum kit, and vocals are right into the mixer and out. Would You reccomend 15s to accommodate the Bass guitar and e kit or will the 12s be ok? Which setup would you recconend?
for monitors go with 12s but for the Audience, they're not really going to hear a difference but 15s will bring a fuller sound to the back of the room.
using 12" or 15" is really more a question of venue size. 15"s will move more air and cover a larger area, while 12"s will keep it more under control in smaller venues. I have used TS412's for outdoor venues where I didn't need to cover a lot of distance and they were fantastic.
Not sure I understand the crossover method on these new Alto's. I'm not seeing a crossover frequency option on the sub itself and the tops have a weird sub option like they have to cut off their own low-end which gives me the impression the XLR out on the sub is just a "through". Is this the case? If so it would seriously limit the tops I could pair it with as they'd have to be able to manage their own cut-off.
Yeah, the new alto subs can only send full range from everything I've seen. The Mackie SR18S, on sale right now, is $100 more than the TS18S but also has high passed outputs on the rear. Considering those right now, but there's very little about them out there at the moment
