How to reach?
Varkala has its own railway station and the nearest airport is Trivandrum
Where to stay?
South cliff has cool sea facing resorts. I stayed in Oceano. North cliff has a lot of budget hostels and hotels. I stayed in Zostel, but there are a lot of hostels near the north cliff.
How many days?
3 days at least to explore, but Varkala is great for a leisurely trip just to soak in the ocean.
Commuting?
You can easily rent a scooty in Varkala. But you’ll also find autos and public buses
Things to do?
Varkala is famous for surfing. You can also do paragliding here. Don’t forget to shop in the north cliff market near helipad.
Beaches?
All the beaches in Varkala are too beautiful. Don’t skip Edava and black sand beach.
Half day trips from Varkala:
1. Munroe Island. Famous for boating. (I would highly recommend staying overnight here, you can find hotels online easily)
2. Jatayu earths centre: largest bird statue
3. Mangrove Village Adventures: go for evening or morning kayaking. Ph. 08921621874
