This seemed like just a overly scripted commercial 😮 Can you please please do the small business gift guide next? Like have each girl select a small business to feature?
Congrats on the big sponsorship! I have to say though very respectfully that this video just missed the mark for me. Parroting other commenters who feel similar to me, it just felt overly sponsored/ad read from tip to tail, and the varying price ranges on the gifts are WILD. Again, I know that this is just an ad and I'm sure no hard feelings were had, but my feelings would be hurt if I got a small crochet kit versus another friend in the group getting a pair of Doc's at a holiday party. I miss the small business gift guides ):
I have to agree with the majority of the other comments. I love that you are getting big brand deals and I love what you ladies have done with the channel so far, but this one was just not it for me. It didn’t feel authentic to you ladies at all and felt more like a commercial that lasted 15 minutes. I hope you use this as an opportunity to do better and don’t take it as hate.
Longtime viewer of your channel and marketer here to maybe help frame why you’re getting this feedback from your audience-it’s because this sponsorship does not align with the brand you’ve been building for years. Your brand has a few core values that have deeply informed the type of audience you attract : authenticity, inclusion, and self-expression. Unfortunately this partnership contradicts the first two, it’s an entirely sponsored video that has a different look and feel to your recent content and reads as contrived and inauthentic. It also showcases gifts that are exceedingly expensive and exclusive. Lastly, the lack of equality from person to person in the gift type, even if supplemented elsewhere, reads as favoritism between your employees. I respect and admire the work you’ve done to pivot your content and hope this feedback helps course correct for future sponsorship decisions.
Congratulations on the big sponsor! I love the channel and I love the new format with the whole team, but something about this video didn't work for me. It felt too disingenuous and too much like an ad. I was also confused by the vast differences in price range for the gifts, and no mention of how expensive some of these gifts are. It didn't feel like a guide, it felt more like watching someone browse around and buy things mostly on a whim.
Totally understand- thanks for taking the time to share your respectful feedback. We have another video coming next week that isn’t sponsored might be more your speed. To add some context on the different price ranges- part of the sponsorship was showing gift options at varying price ranges. The team also gets personal holiday gifts from me that even it out.
@@SierraSchultzzie Thank you so much for replying! I'm looking forward to next week's video. Thank you for the context about the price differences being shown, and assurance that got balanced out behind the scenes. That's really helpful!
I totally agree, I was waiting for the “ad part” to stop and it never did 😅 I love this channel and hope sierra and crew can work out some of the kinks!
If I’m not mistaken in Rachels vlog she had talked about a sponsor editing one of the November videos so I think maybe that’s also why it feels more like an ad, regardless congrats to sierra and the girls on the sponsorship can’t wait for the next video!
Im a little torn on this video. I loved learning more about the girls and their interests. And love seeing them get a big sponsorship like this! But it really felt sponsored. Partially by the big differences in pricing of the gifts (I feel like those doc martens are way more expensive than the kit Jess got). It’s also the whole staged Holliday party, knowing it’s not even halfway of November. I understand getting deals like this is huge and you have a whole team to provide for. So I get really well why you took this sponsorship! But I feel like this is maybe a bit too much
Lol giving away $10 slippers after probably being paid a ridiculous amount for this lame ad with barely any effort put into it. These companies need to do better with paying influencers to half ass ads for $10k++
Sorry Sierra but this one gets a pass from me, this isn't realistic shopping for most people right now given the cost of living crisis. I miss the budget friendly style especially when you would purchase from small businesses. I know ads get more aggressive this time of year but just doesn't feel nice watching a 15 minute one 😅
Adding in my voice to say I love you and all the girlies and support y'all entirely, Sierra, but this was... not the vibe. Too staged/scripted, the gift prices were all over the place (I understand that it was on purpose, but it came across oddly in the video as almost like favoritism?), and the incredibly OTT holiday-decorated set at the end (that I'm fairly certain is an *actual* set at the RU-vid Space, as it doesn't seem to be any of your houses, based on my being a long-time viewer of the vlog) with the exaggerated reactions and posed shots just came across as disingenuous and very 'we showed up for the paycheck on this one'. I would have LOVED this if it was a small-business gift haul in Secret Santa style. Maybe with all the girls picking things for each other from small businesses, with a set budget per person, with a more personal, intimate, unscripted vibe. Again, I get that you probably got paid a LOT for this video, but it doesn't feel like a video that belongs on your channel at all, based on your usual content. It just feels incredibly off-brand.
I think the other comments sum up most of what I feel so I'll just add something I haven't seen- I wish you started off with the small business video first! My reason is: buying from small businesses you usually need to give way more time, especially for handmade items, than you would these kind of items. It would totally make sense to show off in early November as opposed to many of these items you could just buy a month from now. Just for future reference :)
I agree with you 100% but I am sure it wasn’t a decision they had the flexibility to make but more so the timeline that Google imposed on them, which is what I think makes the video so unauthentic because it is obvious that this was at least filmed in October if not sooner and a Christmas party in October is just silly! But I agree the small business video would have been more useful to viewers this week rather than this which could be a last minute before Christmas here’s what you can do kind of vibe
Seems to be a common feeling on this video - I think we all love you guys but this one really missed the mark. Why does everything feel SO scripted & inauthentic at the moment 🙈🙈 something is just a bit off here. As other said, a small business gift guide would’ve been great 👍🏼
I dont really like the way the direction the channel is going. I miss the small business hauls and brutally honest reviews of brands. The last several videos have missed the mark, and I feel like Sierra isnt listening to her audience’s feedback.
First down vote on my part, I agree with other comments, this feel not authentic, too staged, big commercial that I do not want to see. First thumbs down to let you know how I feel about it 🙂 we love your videos and want to see you more ❤️
Sierra I hope you know the comments with critique are truly done in love and because we feel comfortable being honest and real with you! However, I have to agree that this felt like a bit of a commercial, especially the party at the end and the fact that I feel like you are usually really cognizant that your followers likely have lower budgets. I hope the comments do not upset you and are just used to improve from here. We love you!
So your "best friend" gets a $40 eyemask? The price discrepancies between people is just absolutely bananas. This is one of the most fake videos I have ever seen. The "party" at the end looks like a photo shoot where everyone is fake laughing. No thanks.
So happy for you all and the sponsorship! But maybe since the whole video is an ad, I would've appreciated a hint towards that in the title or thumbnail. It just wasn't anything like your other content. I look forward to the next video!
I love this channel and the new direction it’s going, but this ad was not genuine. It felt forced and scripted in a way that wasn’t authentic to the Schultzie crew. I’m excited you’re getting big brands to connect, but google, you need to do better. Let your influencers be themselves.
It could be fun to see an ad like this incorporated with the team through a Secret Santa format where we get to see each of the girls picking something out for someone else! I generally agree with the other comments, but thought this could be a unique idea too!
Love your channel (all 3 of them) and have been watching for 5+ years. I work in marketing so I get it and that it was probably a great sponsorship. But you’re always so intentional and authentic with your sponsors and this was just not it. Really hope to see you doing more genuine partnerships in the future
Compared to the amazing creativity and quality that your videos have been recently, I’m pretty disappointed in this one! It doesn’t feel authentic or honest at all. :(
Wish you would’ve given a budget for each person. I feel like Jess got shorted here. It was a great stocking stuffer but not quite a full gift. Same with the eye mask for Kenzie
Im just sayin I know google possibly made her buy different price point items but it would be cool to disclose that, so it doesn’t seem like Kenzie got the shhhh end of the stick
Y’all are the ones being scrooges here. Just enjoy this for what it is. I learned so much about the team. And sierra is super genuine. Plus this got me into the holiday spirit!! It was so cute and cheerful.
If you truly supported sierra and the gang you’d be super happy for them getting google as a sponsor… especially after she rebranded her channel to include her team. Having google as a sponsor is a big opportunity and I don’t see why she should’ve rejected the offer. It’s not like she’s lying about a product or selling herself out, she literally included her channels theme and incorporated it into the sponsor which made a lot of sense and felt pretty authentic.
I understand that sponsorship is very important & am OK with that. But I agree with everyone who mentioned that the price range for the gifts was absurd. You could see the disappointment on the faces of some of the team. This did not have to happen. And the „advert” did not have to be so blatant. I think I’’ stick to the vlog from now on.
I gotta say, respectfully, I hated this video. The entire thing felt like an ad and not genuine. It wasn't interesting, nor did it inspire me to want to buy anything. It just felt like you were in the "searching for things" stage. The budget for gifts was all over the place. I would have loved if this felt more real and your group did a gift exchange with a budget + showed everyone shopping. The fact that everyone is dressed up for the holidays + the house is decorated for Christmas when this video was posted in early November feels fake and staged. Sadly, this video felt like a quick cash grab.
I completely agree. The budget is all over the place and Poor Jess got the short end of the stick! That girl deserves so much and sometimes I genuinely feel she can do better elsewhere, the way she's treated in the vlogs and videos makes me feel she just deserves better. This video, the set up the reactions just feels inauthentic. Imma just stick to vlogs. Very disappointed to see such a sell out.
Jess really didn’t get treated the same as the others. It’s quite sad to be honest. Like the price range is insane. I personally would feel quite hurt. Also a holiday party in I assume October? Very fake feeling
For the first time ever, I couldn’t finish a video of your Sierra’s :( and I’ve watched you for years and have always enjoyed your down to earth, relatability videos. This just felt the equivalent of buzzfeed gift ideas with the commission links. I could tell you tried to make it personable by connecting it to your team but it just felt flat. Overall, it seemed like a sponsored portion of a video but it never ended
I love your videos but this isn't really hittong it for me. It feels like an ad and kinda fake. I feel like this is not true to you as a content creator and it's easy while you usually do fun and vibey thing.
I like your channel, but I have to admit the gift range was crazy? Like the sleep mask and crochet gifts were cute, but definitely the short end of the stick compared to the others.😢 kind of a weird video, but good for you all with the sponsorship! ♥️
Love this channel and the new group format, but I have to agree that this was a miss. It was a 15 minute ad. I’m all for sponsorships and supporting creators but this was too much. The party at the end felt forced and the matching outfits looked more like a Target commercial than an authentic party, especially since we know it was probably filmed in October. Hardly a genuine holiday party.
Very late comment that probably no one else will see or really care about but this video is a really good example of how important editors are in the content-making process! I get why people weren’t thrilled with this - while I think there was a genuine attempt to tie the sponsorship to the channel’s themes, it definitely felt more like an ad than proper content - but I tend not to take ad reads too literally, so I assumed the discrepancy in gift costs was connected to that. But even considering that leeway, the video def felt “off” in a way I couldn’t put my finger on…..until I saw the comments that Google edited this video themselves. And suddenly everything made sense, right down to the background music lol. Idk if she or anyone on the team will ever see this, but Rachel, this video made me extra appreciative of your editing work! You play such an important role in making viewers feel connected with the team. ❤
The music was just way too loud and distracting for me. 😭 I could barely make out what you were saying. I tried to make it through, but couldn't finish bc of it. I'll catch the next one!
Part of the sponsorship was showing a variety of price ranges, and everyone on the team knew that going into it- the girls also get personal holiday gifts from me that even everything out. Hope that makes sense!
@@SierraSchultzzie I wish the prices were actually listed in the video and this was emphasized! It didn't feel as much like genuine Sierra content :/ but I'm so happy for you landing a huge sponsor
What happened to small business hauls. This felt so much like a cash grab. Confused about the girl who is vegetarian for environmental reasons but promotes huge consumerism and large companies like google. Make it make sense
she replied to another comment saying that part of the sponsorship was buying things at different price points. she also said they all were also getting personal gifts from her to help balance that out so the price differences weren't so big
Sierra, your comment section has been brutal over the last few months - I’m genuinely shocked you haven’t touched on that in a video/vlog yet. I’m a long time viewer and I’ve gotta admit, I agree with folks. Your channel has become all about your “coworkers” and team (who we didn’t ask for) and getting advertisements - it just feels disingenuous. I hope we get a candid response addressing everything soon!
She did make a video about it though her channel has rebranded to the collective it's not even just her channel anymore. It was either she rebrand or no more videos 🤷♀️
@@SillyWilly-s8g ok again it's either rebrand or no more videos except for the vlog channel. That's what happens with rebrands though I love it but not everyone does and she seems happy with the changes 🤷♀️ Also most of these comments don't like the Google ad
I'm always happy to see content from you, however I wasn't as excited about this video. Feels a little "too sponsored" if that makes sense? But I understand some videos have to be sponsored, and congrats on google.
talk about some gift inequality...$30 (on the high end...) for one person and prob $300 with taxes for someone else...I thought you would add in extras for the people who got like nothing...
I think this would have been more fun if you did it secret santa style. Interesting to see the google 100 list as hadnt heard of it before and might check it out. Looking forward to other xmas content as wasnt quite it for me but so proud of you for this sponsor xxx
I'd really like to leave this as a note to your sponsors, I think you all would have come up with a more fun and genuine ad if they had given you the freedom to be creative and show more personality. As a creator myself, I 100% understand the pressure of talking points and aesthetic and feel but you've proven over and over again that you can do ad integration really well and folks should really give you more trust to make it right for your channel and audience.
I love your videos so much and it is great that you have the money to afford buying presents for all your friends and pay around $100 for each one. But I bet your gift guide/ideas won't suite more than 1-2% of your viewers because guess what... not everyone is rich. 😮 That's not realistic at all for most people...
I am glad you got big sponsors However i miss your small business haul I agree with the rest of comments Also its kind of rough with people trying to make ends meet this haul without checking price feels outrageous This could have been a challenge video buy a gift at x price range So everyone can pick and it would fit the theme as well
Buying gifts for _all_ of your friends? In this economy? LMAO Most families I know have switched to the "only for kids" model years ago. Christmas is supposed to be about spending time with loved ones, not having to get a second mortgage on your house for useless stuff.
Girl.. not the "holiday party" that looked like beautiful stock footage 😂 I feel bad cause you were probably excited to make this video and it didnt land with the audience. But I feel like it could only work if Google posted it from their channel as an obvious ad for their gift feature. Cause it's really out of place on this channel.
Not only was this filmed before November even started and felt extra fake with pretending it’s Christmas, but everything about this video missed the mark.
So great for you to get a big sponsor! We’ll deserved ladies! But, I do agree that it felt very commercial like. Not personable. Excited fit the next video!
I’m 5 minutes in but can’t make it through the video. As many others, I feel like this one just didn’t have that original Sierra vibe we all adore so much ! Nonetheless, I still love the other videos and look forward to what you girls come up with in future videos ❤
I agree thia video feels disingenuous and not like the teams usual content. However, taking into consideration that Google sponsored the whole video and in Rachel's vlog she talked about how the brand was editing the whole video, I felt like Google made this with a comercial in mind and tried to push their own agenda and not what makes the Collective what the subscribers really want.
I normally don't comment on videos but, I did feel like this video was a complete ad but was still confused at first until the end. Disclosing that earlier on I think would have worked much better like in other videos you have put out or Vlogs. I do disagree with other comments of the price difference and comparing a pair of shoes to a crochet kit. Perhaps it's my style but I would much rather get a gift I'd love like a crochet kit rather than an expensive gift that maybe I won't use or wear? I think it was great it was unique to each person. On the other hand I do think a price limit would have been nice to have established as of a minimum and maximum. I might get heat for this but if you're focused on a price of a gift that was picked out of thought and care for you personally it rubs off a little ungrateful?😅 Our family does secret Santa and sets price limits and some get a high price gift then others and that's totally okay! Doesn't mean someone cares for someone more than others! I did like learning about the google 100 since some people are so hard to shop for. I'm sure the future videos will be great and a vlog to come out soon talking about this video and comments😊
I know this was to promote Google ad, but I really disappointed and distrubed in the dramatic inequity of the value of the gifts. Jess gets a tiny crochet kit???? Is that even $20? That's a stocking syuffer or a dollar limit exchange gift. And Kenzie, an eye mask? Maybe as part of a spa gift. The people the closest to you, the token gifts. Meanwhile, the new pals, are getting about $200 range gifts. Even if it's for the ad, Sierra, you are doing a bad job. If i was Jess, WHO DOES SO MUCH FOR YOUR CHANNEL, I would be heartbroken. I'm not a fan of this collective channel, either.
I have to say, as much as I wish there was more of a hint in the title about this being a long-form ad, I wasn't aware of the Google Holiday 100 and it definitely feels like something I might use this year as I am going to be shopping for a few people I don't know much about. So as a schultzzie video this is underwhelming, but as an ad it kinda worked for me. I have a question for people who've commented about the budget of the video. I'm not American so I don't know if it's a cultural thing I'm missing. Why are some people complaining that the video is not budget-friendly enough (even though it wasn't labelled as budget-friendly) but then also complaining that it is unfair that some people got more expensive gifts and others didn't? I understand this is an ad so obviously the way the gift giving process worked would have been discussed in advance and the team would have been aware that they had to find items at different price points. But in general, do you tend to have the same or a similar budget for all the people you're shopping for? I'm curious because for example I'd rather get something cheaper but that I actually use than something expensive that is not quite my style. And I don't particularly compare how much I'm spending for each person in my shopping list. I just know that for some people I will be willing to spend more if necessary whereas other people are going to get a gift that is more of a token, so I don't really care about finding the perfect thing and I tend to spend less
I'm not American. For me it's strange that to have a group of friends/co workers and not have the same budget for everyone. I thought it was jarring to see one of them get expensive doc martens and the other got a crochet kit that isn't worth that much. It's a huge difference in price. All the holiday celebrations I ever had we had a budget. From my grandmother a got someting a little smaller then what I got from my parents but all the grandkids had the exact same budget. When celebrating with friends/co workers there was a set budget for everyone. Just to keep it equal.
@lientje275 This is a fair point. For co-workers we've always had a pre agreed budget. But for friends not really because some people's perfect gift might have been more or less expensive than the others'. Obviously this video is sponsored so it's not a reflection of actual presents and friends dynamics and I don't think we should look into it too much. Thanks for the reply though. I find these differences in how we treat things fascinating
Slippers were messing up my feet, it was just too hard to find cozy ones that had any support in them. Consider getting the lined crocs. They are so cozy and give amazing support.
This video did feel a little weird but I know your business is growing sierra, and part of that is trying things and striking a new balance. The video was very well produced and congrats on the big sponsors! I love seeing your success and knowing that it goes to support your baby girls💕 you are responding really well to the feedback and I have no doubt that the Schultzzie channel will continue to grow in the right direction
I do see what the other commenters were sayin about it feeling a bit ad-y, but it was nice to learn more about each member of the Collective! And honestly it being so ad-y kinda negates the other complaint people are having (at least to me). So what if all the gifts are vastly different prices, this is clearly an ad to show off the product and not what you're actually getting the girls for the holidays.
Okay so a few things. I think there has been a lot of negitive comments recenty on your videos and I wanted to share my two cents. I feel like this could be due to the drastic change in your channels over the past few years. Like for instance the vlogs are almost solely "mom" content and your main channel is now a group channel. Therefore, the vlogs no longer fit in your self esteem, healthy movement, organizing, routine, fashion etc categories like they used to. When it comes to this channel I can understand why you brought in other people and I think it could be great. But in my opinion these group videos either seem very ad like or like we are just watching you hang out with your friends. I fully understand that our life and content doesn't stay the same but I have at least been a lot less engaged in both channels. 🫤 I want to end this with the fact that I only wish all of you the VERY best but I'm hoping this isn't a continuing theme.
I love the idea behind this video, but it definitely came off too scripted. It felt like I was watching a 15 minute ad. Also there definitely should have been a budget for each person because a sleeping mask vs Doc Martens doesn't seem fair. Congrats on the big sponsor!
