@@thegentleduck4277 If you just want a quick'n'dirty firstborn and only care about helmets then sure. But if we're trying to make a Mk VII marine for instance, you'd also need to remove the little balls on the ankles, trim off the knee fins, shave down the pectorals on the breastplate, smooth out the waist and put three power cables on the belly, shave down the raised greeblies on the thighs and forearms, and replace the power pack with a Mk VII power pack from an old pre-primaris sprue. Yeah, there's a lot of differences, and they only get worse with older marks.
Those are some chunky looking lads! They're going to look awesome in Deathwing colours. Good to see such detailed comparison of the new sculpts. I'd say they'd look pretty in line with the Chaos Terminators.
btw, Scarab Occult Terminators are the same size as the Tartaros Terminators from Heresy. The Blightlord and Deathshroud are bit taller than the new Chaos Terminators.
A nice look at something I'm interested in. Elsewhere I've seen this sort of thing handled imprecisely. But what has really prompted a comment is your contrast paint comparison pics. So, so helpful. I look you up every time i think about buying another contrast paint.
It's always interesting to see this since I have a very different view from most of the fan base. I'm new to the hobby, I started one year ago and every time I see this true scale models I just find them great. They look better, they are bigger and look more intimidating but I can see why a lot of the community would be displeased especially if they have many of the older models. Also a funny comparison would be to do with the AOS Stormcast Anihilator since they are noticeably bigger than a normal stormcast which are bigger than a primaris.
I’m new myself. Very new. So do fans dislike them because they are larger than the original models and they now look out of place side by side on the table? Even though lore wise the new ones are correctly scaled? Or is a different issue?
@@terrydactyl2077 These models in particular are disliked because they're mono-pose, with absolutely no options (except helmet or no helmet for the Sergeant). There's three Terminators with Storm Bolter and Powerfist, one with an Assault Cannon and Power Fist, and one with Storm Bolter and Power Sword, and that is the entire thing. There is a multipart kit that came out after this video was made that allows for much more customization that is probably liked a lot better. On the other hand, some people are annoyed because Games Workshop isn't just replacing models like-for-like like they did here; a lot of the other models that have been replaced have had their names, and weapons loadouts changed, and the rules for the old ones have been discontinued, meaning that you can't use the old ones according to their rules (because they have none) and you can't use them as the new units because they don't match the loadout or they don't have the same base diameter. In this edition, that came out at the same time as the terminators in the comparison, Games Workshop basically deleted all the old bike units, all the old Land Speeders, the old Assault Marines, several of the old Dreadnought versions, and a bunch of Veteran units. One of my friends has a *bunch* of those all painted up that he can't use in official games anymore because they're no longer part of the core rules and won't be updated, and he is *mad*.

I like the scale of the chaos terminators VS the Levatian-box terminators, even if they're a TAD bit smaller, in scale with the SM Heroes ones. BUT who's to say, chaos marines who are still a tad shorter than Primaris, wouldn't loot a dead Leviathan-box Terminator armor and modified it down to fit their size a bit better :V
If I had a plastic terminater model, I would convert the arms to be higher on the torso to make the model not look like it’s Hunched with its shoulders shrugging.
Could you guys do a similar video comparing all the main space marine model scales? I’ve been trying to find a good reference point for these models but can’t, and honestly it’s kind of affecting my purchase one way or another. I want to see how the firstborn, space marine heroes, new mark 6 and primaries marines stack up from the front and back. Not one I know has done a proper live comparison to them.

Can someone please tell me, what is the total height in inches (from feet to the highest point of the armor) of this new terminators from Leviathan box?
Terminators are literally your eyeballs if your eyeballs where heads. Their heads have stayed the same size across the editions with only their body’s changing
As far as I can find, in comparison to the modern Cadians, the modern Terminators are actually too small to be Primaris, but are perfectly sized to be FIrstborn, which makes the fact that these are supposed to be Primaris wearing terminator armour a little ridiculous. In fact, all the primaris marines are Firstborn height when compared to the modern Cadians, assuming the Cadians are 6 feet tall in-scale.
Yeah. I put these next to the new infernus models and DAMN! They are huge. As they should be. They're so cool. And their poses. I somehow put one of the heads on wrong and the absolute menace of a ticked-off looking terminator is so good. Slam dunk all around
I think they are a tiny bit too big after seeing this tbh. Saying that “terminator armour” is actually a nickname for “Tactcial Dreadnaught Armour” so they are meant to be mini dreads I suppose… 🤔 I love the sculpts though. Cheers for the super useful breakdown man, big fan of your channel ❤
Terminators are my number 1 favourite unit in all of 40k, I only recently came back about 6 months ago after being away since 5/6th edition! Will have to find my ultramarine termies from assault on black reach!
I like them, unfortunately I just painted a squad of Deathwing Termies for Space Hulk, doh! The embiggened Terminators do get me a bit more interested, I never liked the whole Primaris-Firstborn thing and think GW should have just upscaled regular marines rather than creating Primaris, and that seems to be the approach they're taking to Terminators.
I refuse the existence of lore that says that Primaris are taller and perform better than firstborn, my head cannon is that the only difference is that Primaris are vat-grown and take significantly less time to create than Firstborn that takes years to be altered and trained plus Primaris wear Cawls new Mk 10 armor that is more streamlined and easier to manufacture
Every issue I had with the earlier Terminators has been addressed, in particular the skinny arms and legs. And I'm glad the actually kept the formally over sized head the same size on the new bulkier bodies. But mostly I'm glad the boots aren't as flat, the original Terminators would have had to have the soles of their feet bare to fit into the old boots. Which would have been uncomfortable on gravel and mine fields.
Now do true-scale chapter units like wolf guard, DA and DW veterans, etc. I understand wanting a steady flow of cash over a long period of time, but release them already!
Their midsection is still to short. Becomes apparent with the heads without the helmet. I wish the heads were smaller, that could maybe work to mitigate the effect of the current giant head and the missing stomachs. The head and helmet are almost equal in size, that head could never fit in that helmet
2nd edition terminators are metal I have about 40 of them and more in my chaos army and they are a tad bigger than loyalist legion terminators but Thanos for the video I had a question about that been away a few years getting back into it
Fantastic content as usual Stahly. Do the new Terminators look compatible with the old kits at all? I've got some Wolf Guard terminator bits and I was wondering how feasible some hand or arm swaps will be to put some Thunder Hammers or other stuff on them.
I guess you have to wait for the multipart models, as the arms are single pieces incl. weapons and shoulder pads. But size-wise, old shoulder pads and hands should fit.
The most random question... how do you think they'd fit on 32mm or 28mm bases for the purpose of using them in Space Hulk? I imagine they'd look silly on a 40k table like that, but would they fit?
I did not paint my old terminators (only painted my death gard ones). And i'm gona use a simple trick to make them look chunkier (wich i allready did in fact on my DG ) ... epic rocks/skulls on the base. ^^ While i'll only use sandy/grass look base for the new leviathan ones. This way they will get aproximativly the same height.
@@stahly_taleofpainters it appears the new termie pads look s similar in size to the heavy intercessors/bladeguard pads, which would make sense in terms of the upgrade kits
I think the new models look honestly great. I was expecting a push fit monopose with nearly no options so it's not too much of a shock. I am however extremely fed up with gw's scale creep. Yes I know I can't do anything about it and to some extent it's always been there, but still.
The litmus test is ALWAYS if they're arms are growing out of their heads or not. Not interested in the stupid lore "reason" they are not in proportion.
