So to help clear confusion - You do not want to use multiple EQs for the same headset! If you import the Astro preset for the A40 or A50, you can still use Atmos, but set Atmos to "Game" with performance mode "Off". On something like the TB Stealth Pro, most people like the Stealth Pro EQ more than the Atmos tune, so I would use the Stealth EQ. If you're using the Stealth Pro on PC, set it to the signature sound default EQ, then use the Sonar tune if you can. Otherwise, the standard 10 band EQ I made for it works really well. For those using headsets not shown here, Sonar, Equalizer APO, or any 10 band tune for things like Atmos or your own DAC will all work. For using the Mixamp with a non-Astro headset, set the mixamp to flat, then use Atmos or Sonar if you can.
Awesome video as always! When it comes to Xbox using the SS Nova 7X, would you recommend setting Dolby Atmos to flat and using Nova tunning or the other way around?
I'm using Maxwell, as you said, I set it to Audeze preset and then apply the Sonar....... I was so surprised....... the sound stage... and the footstep.... i can finally hear them !!! it's a pretty magical result. .... unbelievable... great works !
Thank you for your honest feedback on the game audio, I was on the fence on MW3 just because MW2 had the most frustrating footstep audio mix of any FPS I have ever played, and it never got fixed. Every play session is plagued by the feeling of having zero spatial awareness of nearby players in way too many situations.
it's a shame because a lot of the movement mechanics are close to perfect in MW3. it's a blast to play. The audio mix consistently gets worse though. And now they have the music/leveling up audio track mixed with the master effect, so the rock music is full blast instead of quiet like before. There's no way to turn it down now
I feel the same way about the games. I was all about CoD up until Ghosts then I quit the series. I only came back as it's my son's favorite to play so we play together. But I have played stuff like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon since their original games and my fiancee and I play a lot of PUBG. Coming from those games to CoD is hard to accept as the audio awareness is some of the worst I've ever heard.
You've got my subscription. I love using Sonar, and with your videos, I'm able to get the most out of it. An updated EQ for Warzone would be great. Thanks for the video👍
Extremely underrated channel given the fact this guy goes in depth so much when it comes to creating the best sound experience for all of us and on several different platforms too. Must've been hours upon hours of research and testing. Gadgetrytech deserves a lot more subscribers. Keep up the good work man!
@@GadgetryTechLove your content. My go to for anything tech. I have a question. I have Atmos on Xbox and the Maxwell Headset. Do I use the preset settings on both atmos and Maxwell?. Or do I use the settings on Atmos and use the default setting on Maxwell?.
I tried dolby atmos settings with my kaira X and daaaammm is amazing!!! now I can hear the foodsteps clearly, your amazing bro thanks reallly thanks this help me a lot!!!!!
Am amazing in-depth review as always, Sir. Thank you so very much for all your hard work and efforts to clean up the sound of this game. Always much appreciated. Running with the stealth sneakers is surreal. Almost distracting from the game not to hear your own footsteps.
@@GadgetryTech ninja has been part of COD forever, it was only on the last game that was removed. I have a question if I’m using sonar with my A40s, do I also need the EQ for the A40s on them or need to have them flat ?
Thank you. I tried these settings on my sound blaster G3 and the footsteps audio is so much better. Home theater really helps with less immersion so you can pin point the footsteps better.
Hi, I run Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless on my Xbox Series X, as well as Dolby Atmos. Do I run EQ’s on both Atmos as well as the Steelseries DAC??? or just one or the other? …if just one, is it best to run an EQ through Atmos or the DAC?
Life saver!!!! I was ready to return my headset I got for my new pc. I have the Logitech x pro 2, the G hub software is horrible and after watching your video and downloading the SteelSeries sonar app it made this headset 100 times better! not only that I was finally able to adjust the chat volume of my teammates which was way too loud in game overpowering the game volume which especially sucked when playing SND.
Thanks for all your hard work! Do you see any chance to revise this for the new Warzone Urzikstan? I think they changed a lot from Multiplayer MW3 and they are still updating/tweaking footstep audio in Warzone, but the latest update seems to have gone i the right direction! Another youtuber called ArtisWar already has a video on the PC aspect but I am on PS5 so I need Steelseries GG EQ settings (10 bands). Thanks!
This has been a great help, thanks! Question, I use the Nova 7x on xbox with atmos, do I stack your new MW3 setting on the 7x onboard dac then use your atmos setting on top of this? Also, what are your thoughts on enableing virtual surround on the atmos app?
As a quick followup, I found your initial setting too dampened and no environmental cues came through for me on the Model One. I know I have high range deafness, so that has to be taken into account. I adjusted your initial settings slightly to get better 'spacial' cues. My adjusted Sonar settings are for your reference only: 1790 Hz to +3.5dB, 2500 Hz +3.5dB, and Treble raise to 3.5dB. The countdown beeps may be a little piercing, but with my deafness I can't hear them clearly enough. I may have to raise 1100 Hz a little, but testing a bit more. Thanks for your kind reply. Stay well, Sir.
UPDATE: Warzone just launched and boxes are super quiet using this. Also, my gunfire is unbearably loud and dulls other sounds. Can you please address this in your next video or here in the comments?
Impressive video Joe, as usual. I have been using your MW2 Sonar preset on my Maxwells (with Spatial Audio On) and I love it, I will give this new EQ a shot now. QQ that I always have: if I use either EQ in Sonar, should I use a Flat EQ in Maxwells’ software to compensate? I am not sure if the Audeze default EQ is already flat. Thanks!!!
Thanks Sebastian! I would use the Audeze preset, then apply the Sonar or Equalizer APO on top of that. It's a pretty magical result on the Maxwell and I loved playing on them with that setup!
Thank you! I recently had to look you up again. You been helpful for years. Even today your MW2 audio videos are helpful in understanding a lot. I'm sharing you in communities and discords to help more people on top of it themsevles. I had to laugh when the COD community put art is war on a cod god audio pedestal when all he did he say hey install 5 programs on your PC, run virtual cable and use 7.1 surround. You're videos are actually informative, educational, technical and real.
Watched ur mw2 video recently and been using the bass boosts ever since mw 2019 but ever since these in depth videos kept coming out, u convinced me to have tht home theatre mode, and damn🔥🔥💯
Love your content ! Do want to mention, was watching your live gameplay a few days ago and in chat mentioned I used your Nova Pro Wireless WC tune but with home theater and you replied back saying that was possibly a good idea and would will try it out! Glad to see that's what you stuck with! Thanks for all the great videos!
Massive W and earned a sub from me for sure with this! Greatly appreciated. My friend and I *immediately* noticed our own voice chat in Discord improved with this preset as well and *REALLY* cleaned up the audio.
Informational, and in depth. I use a GSX1000 mix amp, I've never had any issues with the presets. Warzone 3 has been HORRIBLE with footsteps. I first used Steel series Sonar which was great, but would default your windows audio devices. Making it annoying every time you start up, having to reselect the mixamp as the main device for 7.1. PEACE is a great option, I will use the preset and adjust it as needed for my set up. Thank you
Love watching you grow. Great job. I love your home theater in the back. I have a 7.1.4 myself using separates for the first time in my 30 years of doing it. HT is my passion and even though I have a lot of good headphones, I will take speakers any day of the week. Just put Wicked Cushions on my 560S.
Used your settings on my arctis pro wireless with sonar and they were good. Much improved. Had to up the bass side a dot as my preference. Thanks for doing this!
Have you had any luck adjusting that setting to warzone? I just go the arctic pro and I love them but I can’t get the audio right on WZ. It’s possible I will have to wait until they get around to patching.
Really informative video, thank you! Will you do an extra one for the new warzone? Or does everything you talked about here apply there too and we can just use the same settings?
omg ive been using The Dt990 pro 250 ohms paired with a Toppings DX3 pro+ amp with stock sound and thought it was the best audio ive heard for call of duty snd but ive tried the eq for snd and its amazing i can hear enemies as much as taking the pin out of a grenade and throwing and also exactly where they reload and creek open doors. THANX so much and definitely gotta sub
@GadgetryTech thanks for another amazing video I’ve got similar hearing to you and for the Nova 7 your GG Engine Sonar equivalent EQ is great. I tried this new one you done for MW3 and I found it to be a little hollow in the mid range. Imaging is still great, but what I’ve done is, I kept your Sonar equivalent EQ, but just changed the 32Hz from -10 to -6.5 and it sounds great So just for those who’ll read this my Nova 7 EQ in order from left to right -6.5, -3, +6, 0, +2.5, +2, +1.5, +1, +4, +1.5
Sounds great, thanks for sharing! Yeah it all comes down to preference and even the pads. I think the stock pads have a slightly different sound than the Freeze pads, so I tried compensating for both
@@GadgetryTech I use the official SteelSeries soft leatherette ear pads for the Nova 7. I love it as it’s still very comfortable and it locks in all the sound
covert sneakers (dead silence) is definitely *not* a new perk to call of duty, it's been in the game as recently as cold war, and was in basically every classic-engine cod prior to 2019. thanks for the EQ recommendations, will be interesting to try it out.
As you eluded to at the beginning of the video, almost everyone will be using the covert sneakers. I know I do because I don't want to be heard. The bone conduction headset is nice, but useless against the vast majority of players. As a result, I'm not giving up EOD or Tac Mask for a perk that only works a small percentage of the time. For balance reasons, I kind of wish the sneakers greatly reduced, but not totally eliminated footstep sounds. And then, the bone conduction headset would be a counter to the sneakers instead of being useless against them.
I do have one question though, I have Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X and Kiwi Ear Orchestra lites that I mainly use. I’ve noticed people using IEMs a lot more now, but I feel like the Beyerdynamics are so much better for imaging and cues. Do you notice that with IEMs as well? Do you tune loudness EQ for short or long?
I'm on XSX, did the best I could to get decent sound without delay. Using a Sennheiser Game One plugged in to my controller, using Dolby Atmos for Headphones on performance mode and it's pretty decent considering it's connected via a wireless controller on a console. I can't decide between using Headphones or Home Theater in-game. Home Theater sounds richer and more balanced, but like others mentioned, your own gun sounds are overwhelming
I'm on pc with EPOS H6PRO and GSX 300. I have The EPOS software set to flat in 2.0 mode with Equalizer APO + Peace configured to the first slide of EQ APO settings along with Dolby Access in game with performance mode on and Dolby Atmos active. Just wanted to confirm that my settings are optimal.
Since MW 2019 everyone has been complaining that footsteps we're too loud and it sounded like deep diving fins, so now that they've dialed it back, people complain again. There's no winning. As far as this game being a DLC, that's typical CoW (not a misspelled). You may as well call every CoD 'DLC' since Call of Duty 2. The first thing that I unlocked was the Covert Sneakers and the second was the Bone Conduction Headset. As far as the rest of your settings pretty similar, but I use the purchased Dolby Atmos PC and my sampling and bitrate are 24/96 .. plus I crank my volume and I'm using my HiFiMan in a quiet room.
Sounds like a killer setup! I don't mind if it's reduced from crazy loud, tbh. My biggest gripe is if it's inconsistent. If footsteps should be heard within X meters, or in a certain range, it should always work. I've had numerous moments where there's just no footstep sound at all even in the recording later, so I have no clue why the audio engine drops it sometimes.
The bone conduction headset makes an enormous difference. And this can't be undersold. This is now a crutch perk for me. The amount of ambient noise of the various maps is overwhelming, almost headache inducing (admittedly I did have my sound turned up to ear-bleed volumes) - check out the goat noises on Afghan (not kidding), the Radiation noises on the edges of Wasteland, the rain on Underpass, the sound of steam in the pipes in the building on Scrapyard etc, etc, etc. But the BCH makes almost all of it go away.
Hello, I have the TB Stealth Pro and Xbox Series X and I want to use your tune. Xbox has 4 different audio outputs for headphones. 1) stereo uncompressed 2) windows sonic 3) Dolby Atmos 4) DTS headphone:X Which one do I use with your tune, because you can’t turn any of those off? And please let me know what all the settings should be on the Xbox and the headphones? Thank you!
HAHA broooo... Good timing right! I was so confused on this comment until I saw who it was. We both had to get those long hours in before finally releasing what we liked! It'd be sketch if we dropped videos on day one for sure. Freaking footsteps man... Some are there, some arent . Cheers
