Get in the MK Speedrunning Discord!: discord.gg/RxuJWQT Worth noting that the Wolfmame INP wasn't introduced because any top runners were cheating, it mostly came down to new runners coming out of the woodwork and submitting faked runs. Users that haven't submitted a INP time since it was introduced have simply just not been running the game since! I really do want to extend a huge thanks to the MK Speedrunning community for being so helpful. I was involved for a few years but there were a lot of blank spaces that needed to be filled. Couldn't have done it without them! I'll be posting the Discord link as soon as I have it. Hope you enjoy this unique piece of MK history! - Ketchup
byspeed is a brazilian famous streamer (and unbeatable in snes/n64 mk's) who beat down lots of records before but people also called him cheater just because his records were much better than the actual ones, even if no one could prove it he cheated (guess why? because he didn't) I hope it's not about him you're talking about 'fake runs', because they was banned from speedrunnning just for solely being much better than his competition, i saw him playing live and anyone who thinks he's fake should just check his channel (if it's not about him you spoke about, you should check it anyway because he's so good)
@@KyomaGaming I wasn't talking about Byspeed. The comment you've just replied to clearly states byspeed and parallax weren't the players in question. Byspeed isn't banned by any means. He's absolutely welcome to keep submitting runs using inp verification. I love the guy. We worked together on the South American portion of my Trilogy MK Meta.
@@PNDKM oh guess i misunderstood it then xd great to know! just said because he said a while ago that speedrun websites weren't accepting any submissions from him anymore, but that was a while ago, i'll try to let him know that because i'm not sure he knows he's not banned (at least from what i got, he felt like he was banned) otherwise my bad for commenting before watching the actual video x) sometimes we do stupid things in internet, im guilty Love your content, keep up the great job :)
Best way to best Jade is baiting or chipping. Find out which input gives a certain response then defend and combo off of that. I've been beating mk3 since the nineties on Sega as a kid.
Haha liked your comment! Jesus, I think I formed a high heel fetish how many times Jade would run then just go vertical with a high kick to the face... So unfair! Lol
oh man i'm glad to read that, i always thought i was weird to listen to this kind of videos to be relaxed and get asleep but it looks like it's not that weird.
There is now a third sub-category: no major exploits (NME). It bans both the coin door skip and the high punch trick. The remaining rules are the same.
@@zubayrhassan4288 with all due respect, that is not what the majority wants. It is merely what you want. Viewership on the MK Meta vs viewership on other videos does confirm that. I respect your opinion but I like to think that our audience trusts my judgement on what videos to make and how I go about making them. I have plenty of videos in the pipeline that cover both new and old. It does come across as rude when you're essentially telling me what videos to make. Apologies if this was a fairly blunt response.
Insane I've been binging summoning salt, RWGoose, ezscape recently and here this is which is a mash up of two awesome things I love to watch. Keep it up and thanks!
Finally able to watch this video after a long day at work. Such an interesting video. I loved it. These long form videos are awesome Ketchup. Keep up the amazing work!
Awesome bud.Love Summoning Salt and i love what you have done here with MK.Please do more,i think you've just about nailed it and would love to see what you do next.Of course MK is one of my favourite franchises and a speed running series dedicated to it would be brilliant. And any other fighting games would be great too.
Man I absolutely love your content and editing. UMK3 was one of the fighting games that I put the most time into, I miss playing on XBLA with Shock and Konqrr and all of the other high level players.
I love the effort you put into these videos ketchup! I’ve been enjoying the MK Meta videos, This was a great little change up from those videos but with the same format so it’s a nice little treat. Keep up the great work!
Very awesome video. The history is super insightful. I used the jump back kick method growing up playing the game in the arcades. I had to male those quarters last lol. I didn't even know they recently separated the "credit skip" and "no credit skip" categories. I now have the 7th best "no credit skip" time. I like that haha. Keep up the great work!!
You’ve done SummoningSalt proud. This is an excellent video. Right on par with the extraordinary amount of work, effort and quality of his vids. Well done man.
You might think of retitling to include world record progression as that is the common search term. I think it would make it easier for people to find this great video!
the funny thing about this is that we actually use those technics back in 90's in arcade machines because there was no other way to beat the AI,mk1 was easy to beat, but the Ai reading become ridiculus in mk2 /mk3/umk3/mk trilogy. Many ways discovered by the people who was deticated to play those games back then and it was fun to beat those games in my youth.Glad to see that people do speedruns in this games, brings back good memories.Thank you for explaining everything in this video, great content.
This came up in the background and I heard "on the hardest difficulty, in less than five minutes" and I had a legit "WAIT WHAT??" moment. Great essay on the topic, love it.
I never really paid too much attention to the speed running community in the decades I've been gaming, as I'm more of a completionist type of player myself.. But when I found Summoning Sault around.. I don't know maybe two years ago? My god. It's so incredible, I watched those videos almost religiously. Those skills are WAY beyond my calibur of expertise and it's just fascinating. Not only that, and MAYBE I'm wrong, but from what I've seen, the community backing this scene is legit more positive than a lot of other gaming sectors..It's more about breaking those sub limits of potential than it is about toxic trash talk, if that makes sense.. like people have come together, even the top tier players, just to trade notes at times. Of course there are gonna be bad apples and feuds but.. It just seems that this passion comes from a more positive space, to me. I love it. So yeah, definitely have a new sub from me man. Good stuff. Always a fan of cataloguing history. ❤️🤟
I never knew Mk3U could be speedrun'd, I grew up with Mk2 on the Snes. When I discovered speedrunning I tried to beat SMW as fast as I can. Good video, hope you get the subscribers you deserve.
Great video. I had UMK3 for SNES and in PAL version as I'm from Coventry. I loved that game and really enjoyed learning everyone's brutalitys. Back in 1996 the way to do that was via a games magazine, not the Internet! God I feel old typing that! Anyway I'm a big fan of speedrunning too so thank you for the great content. Subscribed!
If taken a long break away thanks to the MKX Pro League and my commentary career. Coming back to it, I didn't know so much tech had been found. It was eye opening.
When you talk about the arcade system and the middle button old arcade layout I remember in 94 to 97 in my corner shop none stop owning. 50p would get me hours of fun.
A master class in my favorite MK game of all time; excellent work! I remember trying my hand at speedrunning the game with some of these strats. There was this awesome "golden era" on Xbox live for quite some time. We're hoping to do an UMK3 arcade video at Funspot soon (we're local)!
Oh boy, I remeber those BySpeed speedruns during livestreams with 1k+ ppl watching. Dude nailed MKI, MKII, MK3 and UMK3 back in the day. Dunno if he still holds the WR, but gotta show some respect to the immense ammount of work. A true MK warrior.
A bit late to the party here but you can still totally do the coin door skip with machines on Free Play. It still registers the coin input as normal. It's about the coin signal being input, not necessarily the setting of the machine. The game will still register the coin input, even if it's on Free Play.
Your video brought to me so many memories! That was the technique I used with smoke when I was in little kid! I was unbeatable on arcade or console. Great video 😁
Do people speed run all the mk games? I didn't have internet at one point and probably played through mk9 ladder 1000 times but never thought hey exactly how fast can I do it. I played cyrax so 100% combos all day hah
You can easily map a coin door button to a seperate button on your arcade panel. I have done this for my street fighter 2 cab. That was you dont have to monkey around with the coin door 🧐
Hot damn this brings me back to middle school. I learned all of these tricks on my own the hard way constantly playing the DS version of UMK3. I thought I was so cool until I found out everyone else knew the same tricks 😆. Such a great video. Took me down memory lane. Had to get a Nerf grip for my DS to be more comfortable while trying to beat the game as fast as I could
Wow I didn’t know I using the strat at the time. Motaro was a hit or miss situation if he didn’t keep teleporting. On Shao khan I’d block low I noticed he would use his upward charge then uppercut him if he kept doing it. I played on the mame emulator as well.
If you think these speedruns are crazy, you should see the Mortal Kombat Advance TAS runs, particularly the one AKheon put out a few years ago. The most broken version of MK3, these runs are... interesting to say the least.
Loved the video and the branching out content. If I could give a suggestion though, background ambient music would help keep these videos extra engaging.
@@PNDKM it was a bit hard to hear as I was listening to it and could barely notice it for a lot of the video (thought it was cut out at points). Just raising it some to a slightly more audible level kinda give it a more documentary/encompassing kinda video I think strengthens videos like this. It helps keep stuff engaging and adds that extra oomph to what you say. Your facts and delivery were all top notch, just a bit louder of music will help really push the engagement to the next level for me. Don't wanna compare you to summoning salt as, while inspired, you definitely do this in a very Ketchup style but I think a bit of audio balancing akin to how he does it will increase my enjoyment of these videos even more. Can't wait for you to do one of these on Shaolin Monks!
@@METAS0MA Cheers for the feedback mate. I know it sounds rich but I can hear the music just fine on my PC, but my PC is natively quite loud. To the point I can rarely have the volume on 100% without blowing my ears out.
lol, this is like watching me play. I main smoke and I figured out that doing a back jump and then kick forces the AI to throw a projectile and that you can teleport punch them. Also I transform into human smoke for the final 2 bosses as well because I find them to be easier. I could probably speed run this game if I cared enough.
