OMG Thank you for not taking an hour to go thru the set up. very informative, I was taking my arcanist down the magica route but this seems doable for me thx again.
Thanks to this build I was finally able to do normal maelstrom. I'm old and my reflexes suck so although the monsters die in one hit, the mechanics and one hit kills are frustrating. With this build I just kill the bosses and such before they get to even hit me. Unfortunately when a class is this strong it will get nerfed to hell and gone and I will be stuck doing only my daily crafting soon!
Super excited to give this a try! I love how your videos are always short and to the point, but you always answer any questions we have. Thanks for everything, Dooma!
I have all the gear for this. I’ll definitely be putting this build together. I don’t know how long it will take me to level up the two new Toons and their skill lines, but the effort will be well worth it. Gonna be fun! I never really got into playing the Necro; I hope I take to playing the Arcanist. Take care.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it! It's very straight forward and for many set ups, the extra aspects such as crux use is often just done in stride of using a basic rotation. The tool tips are honestly much more intense than actually playing it. You can add layers if you want by making decisions on what you use crux for on more complicated builds, but as you can see by these last 3 videos, that's not going to be necessary for the overwhelming majority of players in PVE, unless they just want to. At least with this version of the class at release.
Another Great Video! The Funny thing is I was going to use the same gear on my DPS Magicka Arcanist but was not familiar with the abilities or CP. Thank you for all you new Arcanist builds. And As always keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing your next video.
Hi Dalton! I just hopped on the PTS to test it out for you. It parses around ~96-97k. According to CMX, the procs account for roughly the same DPS (Stormfist: 4326 vs. Zaan: 4433) and the main difference in DPS is the slight reduction in crit rating from the 1 piece bonuses on the monster sets and then the primary difference is Stormfist ends up having a bit less than half (45%) of the burning status effect up time/DPS than Zaan. Ultimately on this specific set up, Zaan puts out a bit more dps, but I do think Stormfist is a fantastic recommendation for those that may be light attacking a bit slower. Thank you for the watching and the comment!
Good to know. I will admit, I have only ran the tests on double bar and mythic set ups. Elemental blockade and scalding rune provide my burning, and I’m seeing roughly 4.8k stormfist as opposed to a 4.1k zaan. Really appreciate the thoroughness.
Man, and Oakensoul Arcanists are doing the same DPS. (Not heavy attack though.) Although the use of Oak does save me from fat fingering bar swap. Definitely gonna pick this build up, gonna be nice to have the bar swap option if needed.
Big benefits with the fact it's without Oakensoul is that you can have a utility backbar. Like a 2h on the backbar for buffs, gap-closer and other fun stuff.
THANK YOU for watching! What do we call multiple crux? Cruxes? Cruxi? Cruxers? Also, Bi-Stat food (Health + Stam) is going to be your best alternative to the Single-Stat food listed in the video if you want more health (you really don't need it). Also also, Ink adds 5% damage, not 25%. I don't do the talking well.
Thank you Dutchman! This build has went through a couple of small nerfs since posting. However, status effects were buffed to a degree. So I couldn't even begin to guess where it is without some play testing, but its absolutely going to be more dps than just about everything required in the game other than that upper veteran trial achievement area. I still use versions of this today for misc group pve things.
You are very welcome Bovrar! Keep in mind this is also a group pve build. There are more modifications you can do to it to make it stronger for heavy solo content. Check out some of the solo set ups here if you are interested: www.thegameroom.tv/arcanist-builds Thank you for watching!
Explain it in math! I want to see if my theory is correct! (Basically, weapon and spell damage is incredibly valuable because fatecarver already has a massive percentage modifier attached to it, so adding another 6% to it isnt that powerful. Add in zaan which scales with damage but not crit, and thats why. I think.)
Hey CEG what's goin on buddy! For this one I was talking way more surface level than that haha. Ex: -We are over Crit Damage cap so backstabber and fighting finesse doesn't provide any further value. -Weapon/Spell damage is more valuable than max resources so Endless Endurance is less valuable than Untamed Aggression. -The amount of damage that would benefit from 6% from Master-At-Arms or Deadly Aim is significantly less than what would be affected by Aggression's 150 Weapon/Spell Damage. -All of force of Nature's pen would be lost from being over-capped already. Etc. But I feel your knowledge is beyond all that haha. There just isn't any option's available with what's left to add value to any output that weighs more than Aggression to the majority of the damage. The only case I found for an alternative was Exploiter, but it just simply parsed less than Aggression, every time. Although it is close. However, its also situational in live content. I suspect the word just hasn't gotten out yet and Aggression just isn't on people's radars at all because it's never really been used for anything meta related so they may not know about it's effectiveness yet on a build like this. That or possibly my time on the PTS on this build was just quirky with sever performance and what not and there may be a better option, which isn't uncommon. Its still very early with Arcanist theory crafting and what not. I think we are going to see some wild set ups in the next year. 😂
@@Dooma definitely early stages. Im still waiting for a skilled enough player to try parsing with cruxweaver armor on which should be the second most damaging single gcd skill the arcanist has access to behind inspired scholarship. If you can generate and spend the crux from cruxweaver on the beam, on the low end, it is worth 4 spammables of damage and on the high end 7 spammables of damage just from the crux that it generates. It just takes fantastic crux management to do so making sure you never over generate in between beams.
@@CreativeExcusesGaming Interesting Idea! You'd need to set up one of those aggro plants or something to keep attacking you to proc it (unless I read it wrong lol) but it seems it could be huge!
Hi Zack! You should still be right around the same area and totally fine. On the dummy a Wood Elf will parse a bit lower but in live content it should balance out a bit more (although not all the way) as the penetration from the Wood Elf's passive will provide more value in live content in general than it does on the trial dummy (which is basically 0).
I have a few questions if you have the time.. 1. Do you use double dot poisons in PVE? (Also the poisons aren’t listed in the written guide for the PVP build) 2. I noticed the changes to this build are magical based but your builds with guides are for stamina. Can this version get a guide too? 😅 3. Any of the changes to go from PVP to PVE that are not listed are the same then? An example would be weapon type or jewelry trait/enchantment.
Hi CJ! Of course I have the time! 1. You typically don't use 2x dot in PVE. You will get more dps from flame/poison enchant combo. Even if you had 1 weapon such as a 2 handed weapon, flame will typically be better than 2x poisons as the damage will be very comparable without the upkeep cost. 2. I am not sure specifically what you meant here. This is a stamina build with 64 attribute points into stam, using stam food, medium armor, and stamina enchants. 3. This is a PVE build. I think there may have been some crossed wires here. Could you have put this comment on a different one than intended? Did you mean to comment on the One Bar: Perfected video, which is the pvp bow build. (Sorry, I am a little lost haha).
Hi Protaner! This build doesn't use any heavy attacks and Oakensoul isn't only for heavy attack builds. Oakensoul has seventeen buffs. Only one of them is designed specifically for heavy attacks (Empower). So you still have sixteen buffs left that benefit all builds. We use the beam because it's the highest dps ability the arcanist has by a big margin and the whole class is designed around building up and using an empowered beam. On this build, the beam alone is 5x the dps of the next highest ability (flail). I hope this helps!
Hi Ruddy! Thank you for watching and your patience! I just got back from an unexpected vacation of sorts. I would definitely use Nirn over Order's here. This build is already just slightly over the Crit Damage cap, so the entire 8% crit damage it provides from the 5 set bonus will be wasted.
Hi Me! Kjalnars is a great option if you have it. From there its a bit of a step down to Stormfist and Selenes. But I wouldn't stress about it. The damage it already so overloaded, even if you used a lesser ideal monster set, you are going to be totally find until you can farm Zaans.
Hi Jordan! It functions the same but there were a couple small nerfs. Just totally guessing, I would say probably around 90k is still achievable. Right around that area +/- a bit. Thank you for the comment and apologies for the super delayed response. 🙏 I am just returning from being out from surgery.
Hey there! This build was recently (heavily) updated. The newest version is on the website: www.thegameroom.tv/arcanist-builds (To answer your question specifically, I would pick up a Selene monster set.)
If you set up your character exactly like the video and follow the rotation listed, you shouldnt have any problems sustaining at all. Other than heavy attack builds, a set up like this is the easiest in the game to sustain. If you watch the parse at the end, you can see both magicka and stamina stayed more or less mostly full the entire time. You may be doing something fundamentally wrong with how you are dpsing or have something major missing from the build. I suggest checking this short guide out. It's a bit outdated, but other than the CP section listed in the video, everything else is totally relevant and may help: www.thegameroom.tv/how-to-sustain
Hi Samson! I am light attacking here. Are you familiar with Light weaving? I have a guide on the website thats 5 minutes and may help. www.thegameroom.tv/guides-animation-guides It is very dated but most all of the information is still just as accurate. In the addon section "Show Global Cooldown" has been replaced by the addon GCDBar (with option 2 and 3 in the settings turned to "on.") Also, if you play on console, just ignore the addon section, everything else applies. I apologize in advance for the cheese in the video format, its one of my earlier ones! haha.
@@Dooma how are you getting major sorcery and brutality? are you using a potion, thanks for the advice, I am going to do your build after revewing many vidoes and just want to get it right.
Would this be viable with a Magicka race like High Elf? I made my Arc a Magicka based and have been using your two button build just tweaked a little but I wanna have something for group content that will pump
Hi Venti! You should be able to with no problems. Just change your attribute points/enchants/food/potion to mag and then keep and eye on your sustain. If you have any sustain problems, there are several options for food depending on what you need. Thank you for watching!
Is this build still viable now? I’m running deadly / riptide / velothi mythic and can only get to like 60k but I’m also cp 590 so I don’t have all the CP points In the trees you listed is that why??
Hi there! I have gotten this question a handful of times here recently. I am going to check out this build specifically on one of my next few streams later this week and update the written guide for everyone (if needed).
Gotchya, thank you for the info. Until I can check it out, #2a may apply here a bit as well to some degree if you are interested: www.thegameroom.tv/build-faq There has been a couple of small nerfs to the set up since posting, but 75k does seem a bit low. I will definitely check it out though.
Hm that doesnt sound right at all. I belive you have something or possible a few things fundamentally off with how you are DPSing. Just channeling the beam and pressing zero other buttons should be somewhere around 15-20k or so. I have good(ish) and baddd news haha. I totally have something in place to help with something like this: See #1 - www.thegameroom.tv/build-faq But unfortunately out Discord is locked down right now to keep the server stable from some attacks going around. But that link will hopefully at least give a LITTLE insight as to what could be going on for you for now.
Hi Thomas! This is a one bar build. Nothing goes on the back bar. The mythic we are using, Oakensoul, prevents bar swaps and adds "most" of the necessary buffs you would have on a back bar.
Hi Velharth! Youll need to do the following if you are dropping Oakensoul: 1) Remove the shoulder monster set piece and replace it with whatever set piece you removed to add oakensoul 2) Add a 1 piece Slimecraw helm 3) Use Tri-Pots 4) You can just use any Fighter's Guild ability for the Slayer passive steroid and be fine and use 1 less button on the rotation. Thank you for watching!
I just tried this build today, so it's been about a year since you made it. I did 66k on my first parse, and I'm not very good, so it's a great build. Have you made any changes to it since then?
Hi there! I have gotten this question a handful of times here recently. I am going to check out this build specifically on one of my next few streams later this week and update the written guide for everyone (if needed). 60-70k does seem quite a bit low, even considering there are a couple small nerfs to the set up now. Check out #2a here for potentially a bit more context for you there in the meantime if you are interested: www.thegameroom.tv/build-faq
@Dooma thx for the reply it's most likely lower for me because I have neuropathy and my hands are pretty much completely numb so even though it's low 65k is the highest I've ever done that was on the trial dummy on the 6 mil robust I only do about 35k
@@dedskiinmask6220 Considering that, that is fantastic work my friend. Well done. I also have nerve damage in my back, neck, and mouse arm from the Army. I imagine the experiences are similar with numbness, tingling, pain after a while, strength loss etc. There are a few surgeries the VA want to do but I keep pushing that off for later in life to not torpedo all of this. For now, I am bandaid'ing the arm part of it by getting regular steroid injections in my arm, and that really does help. I get them every 3 ish months and for the first 2, I mostly feel 100% on my arm for gaming. 0 hinderance in APM. There are also lots of support out there for this for you like a vertical mouse, different braces, some supplements, etc. (just sharing some things that have helped me, in case it helps you as well.) Making these modified builds for players has been a really rewarding experience for me finding post-army purpose and getting to put some good out into the world. I understand the value of accommodation for those that need it and thankful I am able to give back in a way that makes people's recreational time just a bit better. If you havent ever taken a look at additional supports like a vert mouse, consider checking out some info on them. The vert mouse also aligns the bones in your arm differently (a more natural way) so the extra muscle tension from a traditional mouse, than can worsen neuropathy in the areas, is mostly gone. It takes a bit of getting used to, but you should feel an almost immediate tension drop moving from one to the other, especially with associated neuropathy.
@Dooma I just had neck surgery in January, hoping to fix the neuropathy. They did an ACDF and a carpectomy, so four of the discs in my neck were replaced with a titanium post and cage. Unfortunately, it actually made the neuropathy worse, and now I have neck pain and shoulder pain that I didn't have before. So, I would advise avoiding those surgeries at all costs, in my opinion. Also, I'm on console. I had a permanent ban on PC over character names and didn't want to start over there, so I went back to console, where I had a couple of years already. But thanks for the help. The build gets me through everything I've tried so far. Look forward to more builds.
I dunno if this was nerfed or what. I’ve followed everything exactly, including hitting the same training dummy. The best I can get is 55k. A little frustrated given what I did to make a full legendary set.
Hi Ranna! Since posting this build both Dual Wield passives and the Pillar of Nirn set were nerfed slightly, but that should only contribute to a fairly small reduction in dps. Probably somewhere in the ballpark of 5-8k maybe, I would have to reparse with it. Certainly not 45k. Are you playing on PC by chance? I may be able to help sort out what's going on fairly quickly for you if so.
Hi Dooma, i guess considering the changes it could be viable to change nirn to aegiscaller, since we do close range attacks anyway.... this should be able to reach close to 100k again, shouldnt it? @@Dooma
Hi Ben! It's been a little bit but if I remember right, exploiter was very comparable and I chose to use Aggression to make the experience a bit more uniform for players without having to depend on off-balance, while still being able to hit that big 100k dps mark. Great question, but truthfully, I don't fully remember at this point haha.😅 (I do think it's not having to depend on off-balance for the 100k mark though.)
Hi Patrick! You will for non-heavy attack builds but the good news is, light attack weaving slowly is less punishing on the arcanist due to the long channeled beam time so even if you are still learning, you should be able to do really solid damage. Thank you for watching!
Im so confused as to what I am doing wrong. I have a similar build but it uses Oakensoul and my helm is Slimecraw. However I am only able to get 64k dps on the dummy. Its driving me crazy trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Now all my gear is purple because the cost of all gold gear is pretty expensive, especially jewelry which is blue for the nirn neck and ring. Everything else though is pretty much the same, except I have fighting Finesse instead of Untamed Aggression. I am CP 1340 too.
@@Dooma No I play on PS5. After doing some tinkering and improving my daggers to gold I was able to hit 70k. But still not that close to 100k. I do light attack between skills but sometimes daggers can feel a little weird with light attacking.
@@AstralSaiyan Ah ok, I was going to suggest posting a parse screen shot in Discord and I/we could take a look for figure out what is going on for you quickly. Light attacks only count for less than 5k dps for this set up so I believe you may have something fundamental going ok. You said you had a "similar" build and mentioned Oakensoul. Seemingly small personal preference changes to builds can have a very large impact on listed dps amounts. For example: Oakensoul is not the best-in-slot item for many set ups. For this specific set up, it actually provides very little value in terms of DPS, relative to the listed set up. You are missing out on the Zaan proc, significantly more burning up time, and if you are using trap still, you have a redundant buff with Minor Force. Another one is that you said you wanted to use the Fighting Finesse CP instead of Untamed Agression CP. The parse screen shot at 0:15 shows the build already over the critical damage cap by 2%. So Fighting Finesse effectively adds 0 dps here as every % of Critical Damage added from Fighting Finesse is wasted as we are already over the cap. Etc. I would suggest parsing with how the build is posted exactly, then you will have a much better idea where you are with dps. Just the changes I mentioned alone is probably 10-20k dps right there. Any other things you have changed would also add to this. I hope this helps!
@@Dooma Yeah I wish console had an option to share parse like pc. I did forget to mention that I did change Fighting Finessed to Untamed Aggression. I also put two weapon and spell damage enchantments on my jewelry while Oakensoul has Multi-Effect. But I will try using your exact setup and see what happens. I play solo a lot of times and feel like Oakensoul helps with that.
@@AstralSaiyan oh for sure, for solo content Oakensoul is amazing. Just having Major Resolve without an ability and being able to use tri-pots makes it worth it haha. I think parsing with it as is from the video will be good info for you. If you use the set up from the video and are anywhere over 90k then you know you are solid just from a rotation and game play aspect so you can be comfortable knowing you can throw on Oakensoul for solo stuff and are playing a 1 bar Arcanist at a high level, dps wise. If you aren’t near 90k then you know you having other parsing related issues that you can focus on which will likely help you across the board on all classes.
Hey Dooma! How would this DPS compare to dropping Zaan 2pc for Velothi's Amulet? Haven't had a chance to test yet. When I get a chance to test I will comment again as well :) unless you already know!
Hi XJ! That is a fantastic question, I don't remember haha. It's not in my log. If I remember right, it was either just as good or a bit less. I definitely do remember parsing with it for a while and ultimate deciding not to use it for this set up, but I am honestly not sure why at this point. I have a new building coming soon'ish and I will make sure to spend some time with Velothi's and make a note of how it did. Thank you for the reminder!
Hi MrJomoroon! Ever since the hybridization changes to ESO a few years ago, builds are a bit more dynamic with stamina and magicka. As the game keeps evolving over time, this has become even more so. "Most" set ups now use some sort of mix between stamina and magicka abilities in order to both sustain a rotation and output maximum damage. The days of Magicka based Race = must use Magicka Abilities = must use Magicka as a resource are long gone (same point for stamina). I hope this helps! This is very much so NOT an intuitive part of ESO currently. If you have any questions at all, I would be more than happy to answer them. Either here or in our community Discord. Thank you for watching!
@@MrJomoroon You will for most all non-heavy attack builds but the good news is, light attack weaving slowly is less punishing on the arcanist due to the long channeled beam time so even if you are still learning, you should be able to do really solid damage.
You can use Oakensoul if you like for sure! However, it may not result in more damage due to the loss of Zaan's damage. If you do use Oakensoul, use a 1 piece Slimecraw head piece and then Tri-Pots for the potions and you are g2g! (You also won't need Barbed Trap as Oakensoul has the same buff.)
that is the Taskmaster's Banner skin from the scribes of fate dlc do the bal sunnar dungeon on vet and kill all the bosses on vet that's how you get it
Can this do solo content? It doesnt have to be all of them. I dont expect to go far in the infinite archive, im just wondering if this can do vateshran, maelstrom, etc. Or even their veteran varient
Definately if you know the mechanics. There is lots of room to scale it down a bit in damage to increase survivability. However, I recommend this, but using a lightning staff: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5u7ZnbyP0ns.html It's what I personally use for Solo content on the Arcanist.
@@Dooma cool. I have one more question if you dont mind. Does this build you suggested have more dps (with the staff) than the two button arcanist build you recently posted? Sorry if this is getting repetitive since i also asked a similar question in that video😅
Haha no worries, and it definitely has more dps, especially if played like shown in the video. The 2/3 button builds are heavily modified to support players defensively. There is going to be a ton of things than can be done to any of them to elevate it's damage if that's something that is wanted.
It is but a few elements have been nerfed since posting. I would imagine around 90s is reasonable for u41 for this set up (I havent personally tried it in a while, so this is just a ballpark guess).
Hi Henry! Not for this one. You can add oaksoul if you like, just use a 1 piece Slimecraw monster set helm. It will do a bit less dps however with the addition of a bit more survivability if that is something you prefer.
People don't typically show passive cp because its just kind of implied "you take all of them." The CP trees are a bit of smoke and mirrors. It's not as in depth as it looks on the screen. There are only a handful of passives (yellow stars) in the combat trees of red and blue. You just get all of them. So that means every single player in the game, pvp, pve, dungeons, raids, solo, everything, all have the identical cp build, with the only difference being the 4 slottable stars at the top. Its much less diverse than it seems. You can get all the offensive stars at ~1250 cp and you can get all of the offensive + defensive stars at ~1550 cp. So everything after 1550 provides no value to your build at all as you already will have all of the passives stars and 4 slottables.
Hi Matias? Are you asking how to block while using a 1 bar build? If so it's the same as with a 2 bar build, whatever keybind you have set for it will work the same for both set ups.
Hi Andrew! This is mostly still good to go! I am taking a final look at everything now. Any changes will be reflected on the written guide on the website.
i got the exact one running now... im not even getting anywhere near these numbers... think half... wtf i have EXACT set up.. im BARELY pushing 25k dps.. i am sure as shit not hitting those 35k youre doing lol..
Hi Izzak! You'll need to do the following if you are dropping Oakensoul: 1) Remove the shoulder monster set piece and replace it with whatever set piece you removed to add oakensoul 2) Add a 1 piece Slimecraw helm 3) Use Tri-Pots 4) You can just use any Fighter's Guild ability for the Slayer passive steroid and be fine and use 1 less button on the rotation. Thank you for watching!
I'm curious, have you hit 100k on a real Trial boss instead of just a dummy? I want to see if you can sustain that level of damage in an actual fight, because there are AoE attacks and mechanics that require you to move around. It's important to know if you can hold that 100k for the entire duration of the fight, since hitting 100k on a dummy doesn't translate to the same results in an actual Trial.
Hi Grieg! Allow me to explain why builds are shown in this way. A bit of context may help. In Elder Scrolls Online, end-game DPS builds are balanced primarily around the Trial Dummy parses. The intention isn't to "cheese" damage and artificially inflate what may be possible. The intention is to demonstrate the highest output of a build in a fully optimized group, in a perfect setting, in single target encounters. Meaning, the group is coordinated in their gear and abilities to bring all the necessary buffs and debuffs to a fight for maximum output potential in that setting. All the trial dummy is, is mimicking this optimized set up for players to practice on. On the note of maintaining 100% up time on every boss to match the Trial Dummy Parse: No one expects that. It's obvious there are mechanics in fights where that isn't possible. However, the harder an individual and likewise a group works at being more and more efficient and getting higher and higher uptimes on boss fights, the closer you get to what that perfect parse on the Trial Dummy looks like. It's a standard and it's a goal. It's an unmoving standard of what you know is possible from your build and its a goal to try and get as close as you can to it, whether it's 100% possible to or not. It's just the method the game as a whole uses to properly balance, test, and demonstrate builds. If you want consistent and accurate information, its better to embrace it. You can't cheese or fake something that can be easily proven or disproven by every other player who can simply duplicate the parse for themselves. It's also a great tool because there isn't room for opinions. You can simply dismiss or embrace what someone "thinks is a better option" in their opinion by the results given from the Trial Dummy (especially when coupled with CMX). I hope this helps and thank you for watching!
Hi SP! Since posting this build both the Dual Wield skill line and the Pillar of Nirn set have been nerfed a bit. I hopped online for you real quick this morning to get you a parse from today so you can see how it is actually performing today, since this build was posted over 6 months ago now. Even considering 2 nerfs, it is still parsing around 97k. If you parsed a bunch with clean parses and got a crit rng highlight reel, you could probably get it a touch higher. Here is that parse and gear layout, matching the video (Date/Time is at the bottom of the CMX under the Red Arrow): imgur.com/a/dUWrB77 If you are interested in potentially making the build work for you, we have a bit of information for you that has consistently helped players improve with builds from the channel they may have struggled with.
