But, the question I would have and that you sort of hinted at but didn't actually come out and say it, is which one would you not only buy, but recommend? I'm guessing it's the ProLogix pad, but, again, you didn't really come right out and say that at the end. Obviously, some of these are designed more for one particular purpose than another (e.g. Moongel for workouts), but, given that, what would be your choice and why? And what would be your order if preference of all of them? You posted a mention of the Reflexx but didn't include that which surprises me coz I've got 3 (P4, Moongel, Reflexx) and the Reflexx is by far my favourite. Great video though. Thanks.

@@rayboreham2648 Thanks, Ray 🙏! This really depends on the purpose. If you want a pillow-like workout, it's the Moongel. Maybe you are in a marching band and want a pipedrum-like surface with lots of rebound - then it's rather the Realfeel. If you want to work on patterns between the hands and want to split them up: P4. You also want to practice brushes: Quiet Tone. My favorite is the Prologix Blue Lightning. It gives you a workout, but is not so unnatural and over the top like the Moongel. It's rather like a low tuned snare - so quite realistic in my point of view. Plus it has the rim. I haven't included the Reflexx simple because I don't have it. I've been wanting one for quite some time, however, I already have like 10 pads and am happy with the Prologix. Maybe I'll buy a Reflexx pad anyways sometime and if I do, there will be definitely a part 2 to this video 😉. Thanks!

Drumslinger pads are great. Superb rebound and built like a tank. Available with a kevlar head & diecast rim. A work of art.

Wow! didn't realize the differences with practice pads. Great information bc Iv always wonder if there was ever a practice pad that's closer in feel and attack as a real drum head. I particularly like the ProLogix Blue Lightening pad. Seem closer to what I'm looking for. I do have a moon gel pad and yes, it strengthen my wrist, fingers and forearm when playing an actual drum.

Sehr gutes und informatives Video, Simon! Ich benutze Seiten paar Wochen ein Practice Pad von EVANS in Verbindung mit Pad-Sticks von ROHEMA. Was hältst du von diesen etwas dickeren und schwereren Sticks zum Üben auf dem PAD?

Vielen Dank 😎🙏!! Ich verwende auch manchmal Marching Sticks zum Üben am Pad 🤘. Definitiv nichts für Speed. Wirkt aber manchmal wie eine Lupe um Bewegungen ins Muscle Memory zu bringen.

My hq realfeel doesn’t seem to look like yours. I have the same version with the Gray rubber and black coating but mine much less rebound than yours and I think because mine is probably older(even though it’s the same generation)the rubber looks like reptile skin and mine is double sided

Ah ok! Well, yeah, they produced a couple of different varieties and versions over all those years.... Maybe yours has less rebound 👍. This section of the video is more about those common rubber pads in general, because they all wind up being roughly the same...

The quiet pad has 2 different surfaces. One with a little less rebound. So between the two I would go for the quiet pad.

So the reason that so many of the pads are so much more bouncy is because they are trying to replicate the feel of a high tention marching snare drum which actually has even more rebound than a lot of pads

Yes that seems to be the case. And we've been stuck for so long with those hard rubber pads that have become standard.... But no more 😉!
