Great video man, thanks for this. No one has shown beam pattern for indoor use on the web. Most everything you find is only testing the light at range and brightness. You went over the whole gambit. Then pulled out the scale at the end to weigh the lights. Top notch man, Top notch.

Good video man. I definitely think the surefire or streamlight for CQB/indoor on a short barrel rifle with a red dot. The modlight or owl on a carbine/rifle with a scope.
@robertmorano2372
@robertmorano2372 7 месяцев назад
Cool video. That streamlight is $100 (or at least can be found for that), comes with everything you need to setup and go, including streamlights offset mlok mount that is identical to the arisaka, and a lifetime warranty. there's also a new version of it out now with 50,000 candela. The olight drops down from that turbo mo 27:33 de to lower lumens and has a proprietary battery and charging system. I like the simplicity of that owl light, but you're handcuffed to the placement if you're running a backup front sight. We're lucky to have so many great options!
@chrish.6934
@chrish.6934 Год назад
Personally imo I think the OWL is the best bang for the buck to go with. I mean the shear durability, the cost, what comes with it, the simplicity of mounting, lifetime warranty, I just think that's the way to go imo. But the Modlite is a dope ass light also.
@philipfreeman2863

For those who knock the streamlight protac HLX just because it's made in China. That's fine by me. And because you refuse to buy them keeps the cost down and personally I want to thank you.
@mrwongus

Nice review thank you. Olight will only run for 120 seconds at 2250 lumens before it drops down to 1000 lumens. I own both Olight and Streamlight mainly to keep build costs down. For home defense the budget options are plenty reliable IMO. Biggest negative about the OWL is it is not as versatile due to the fixed mounting system.

Outstanding test , very impressive long range test ! I agree about the price, if you can afford it doesn't matter how good it is, does the price match performance, second maybe you just need one that does what your specific needs are, hardly anyone is going to take a shot at 200 yards, at that distance you're getting your car and leaving.

These are professional grade lights and are not designed solely for home defense. If you are outside during daylight and are making entry into a dark structure, you need the candela to penetrate through the photonics barrier.

Thanks for doing such a helpful video. Yours is the first I’ve seen with all of the most important lights (IMO). So, I just received the new Olight Oden. As well as the Warrior X Pro which is a bit more lumens than the regular Warrior X with tail switches for both. If you had any inclanation, I would definitely grab the Oden and test is against these lights that you have here. It comes with a mount and a locking tail pressure switch in the box. I also wonder about the new Owl that’s coming out soon. Would be nice to test that as well against everything here!! Thanks!

I'm useing a streamlight protac HLX on my ar15 and my ar9 carbines. The ar9 carbine is my primary home defensive weapon. And both serve my needs well. A weapons light is essential or a must on every defensive longgun and on defensive handguns as well. A light will give a target identification in darkened areas for threats. I also have streamlight tlr8a flexs on my glock19 and 23 as well as my sig320c. The thousand lumens and 5000 candela is bright enough for my needs. And can light up a target out to 100 yard the tlr8 a flex has 500 lumens and is good out to 350 yards for positive ID out to 50 yards. Which is the maximum use for a handgun at least for me. Streamlight does everything I need from a weapons mounted light. At the distances I'll have to engage a hostile situation. And the truth be known a weapons mounted light needs training on to be effective and used effectively.

@overlandedc

I have not, I found the PLhV2 to be the most balanced head, the okw is going to have more throw for sure if that's what your after.
@GunsNBudder
@GunsNBudder 4 года назад
Note about the Olight Warrior X Pro: your 1" mount won't work with it. The knurling on the flashlight body raises to overal diameter slightly beyond 1" and 1" mounts won't work. I tried mine with an Arisaka 1" ring mount, no joy. Ring won't close enough to get the screw to line up. The olight is a super bright flashlight, though. Pressure pad is quality. Magnetic attachment is good to go. If it becomes detached, it's strong enough to find it's way home. I've been woods running/gunning with it and doing CQB exercises and haven't had a problem with it yet. The $12 mount is blocky and ugly but it works fine, tbh. It's a tough polymer material.

Streamlight has always been the 'poor man's Surefire'. They're cheaper mainly due to them 'globally sourcing' (FFS ITS CHINA!) and than final assembly and QC in the US. Nothing wrong with this arrangement as it allows them to charge less than SF and Cloud while still delivering a good product. Olight is a Chinese company. No ifs ands or buts. Their flash sales are ridiculous and indicative of their 'real pricing' ( just wait a month or two and get it for 40% off). If you 100% need it to run, SF, Mod or Cloud.

Edit: The streamllight will work great for those on a budget, just buy the surefire cap and with any light get a solid mount.
