Jagex should introduce an import and export feature for players to share their interfaces with each other. I can't imagine it would be hard as you can already store multiple saved interfaces, so being able to import an interface should be possible.
@@kevintjuhh070 its not difficult at all your game keeps a file that contains your hud settings, wouldn't be very difficult at all to make it a seperate file for important and exporting, i've seen it done on 1000 games they're just lazy
@@spuffles2104 Lazy or not, they will never do it because you cannot give someone the exact copy of your HUD settings if your monitor is a few inches bigger or smaller.
Kinda sad that we don't have the option to Import/Export Interfaces Would be great to just import a Json and boom, done Specially for new players, so they don't end up quitting while going through this chaos lol
This is the most underrated video content out there. Great job! I''ve had tons of friends drop runescape when trying because the interface was very bad and weird to interact with
It may not be some flashy boss or moneymaking guide, but this is overall the most impactful RS guide I've seen in a very long time. Thank you for taking the time to create it!
As an experienced player I knew most of this but it blew my mind that you could separate defense/constitution or the different magic tabs into their own windows. So handy not having to click through all these different tabs and instead just having then all on their own windows
It would be nice if we were allowed to rename those "My Custom X" to something meaningful. One might want to check what interfaces are saved under various "My Custom X", but checking that means throwing away whatever you currently have. So you gotta save current one first... without really knowing what is it that you are saving over. Great guide though, I'll be pointing new players towards this one!
Runescape's best content creator single handedly saving the newer Runescape population. :) Thank you for your service Ryan, I was aware of every thing in the video but definitely will help a lot of people, especially those who haven't played in years and feel daunted to try RS3 again for some reason and I agree! The HUD is perhaps the scariest thing for a completely new or an oldschool veteran player and this video made short work of explaining absolutely everything one could ever need to get started. Kudos Ryan. Love you dude, keep doing you. :)
We really need a way to export/import interface settings. My first hour of HCIM gameplay was me trying to replicate the interface I spent years tweaking on my main.
3:53 So I have an issue where the Combat Target info no longer appears above my target's head. I found the Combat Target toggle in the UI Editor Advanced Options menu, but that only lets me adjust the placement of the info box on my UI, it doesn't tie it back to the target. I've seen other people have this issue, and they say to "Unlock your Interface, attack something, and then relock it.", and this does not fix it for me. I've also looked at all targetting settings, and there is no toggle to tie it to the target. Is this a bug or am I missing something? P.S. I've also tried using other UI Layouts, they also have the same issue.
I started playing again after being sucked into World Of Warcraft for 4 years and was feeling hella overwhelmed with the RS UI. This was uploaded right when I needed it!
Sad this is the biggest complaint I always hear that turns off my friends from wanting to play it. Besides the obvious MTX but I tell them they can literally just ignore it.
Noticed some options are no longer able to be changed / removed or renamed to something else. Take this tutorial with a grain of salt cause its not up to date anymore tbh
@The RS Guy like many players I'm locked to mobile and can't really use the normal combat system. Could you do a revolution bar run-through for necromancy?
about to get my 20 year veteran cape and i still found this useful, coming back after another few years away and my old interface was shoddy at best. Good stuff, very thorough.
Great video, but the fact that you had to make a 38 minute video for interface setup says a lot about how desperately we need presets and or sharing interfaces. Awesome work! Jagex atleast let us use a *SEARCH FUNCTION* in the settings, please!
Really helpful so far, but I'm having trouble trying ot arrange my action bars, My settings say Bar no displayed but I have a bunch of additional action bars I can't get rid of, I want to rmeove them and start form scratch like the video, please help
If i click on Bar not displayed and try to change it to something it just revrts back to Bar not displayed... I also Don't have all the options to choose from I only have like 5 at a time... Very annoying hurdle just to try play the game!!
-- same, and googling it doesn't find anything, this has bothered me for quite some time. Why have a feature "tucked away" or hidden in the first place. -_- EDIT: Did some digging on the wiki under Update History: "Combat Target Window check box will only appear if the Combat Target Window is undocked from above a targets head." So enter combat and unlock it, in order to see it.. should let you unlock IN the settings but at least I can adjust it now.
There are way too many windows open, it looks worse than the new player default option. Also, there's no 3 in RuneScape, not since 2014, almost 10 years ago. Rookie mistake, carry on.
Either I title it RS3 or I get 50 comments about how this isn't the real "RuneScape" from os players. Personally, I'm happy with the 3. You're welcome to title your own videos however you'd like but it's clear which game I'm referring to.
For anyone who needs this. I found how to get it to show up. With the layout unlocked and target info enabled in options, fight something, you then have to unlock and drag the info window that pops up above the enemy to a different location. Now it will be an option in the layout windows selections with everything else. Slightly convoluted and nonsensical...
Something worth mentioning is if u scale ur interface, u might encounter problems with alt1, as it wont be able to recognize images correctly, e.a. buff bar, potions, etc
Something also worth mentioning how to download is the Alt 1 NyusNecroJobGuage plugin that he has shown and talked about a lot. The thing is, Alt 1nonbasee plugins are not exactly "user friendly" to get working, or even find (case in point, that name is impossible to remember, much less stumble upon). He (to my knowledge) has never explained how to download this very useful necro tool he has talked so much about. I had to spend about 3 hrs troubleshooting how to get it working because I had a "failure to detect home teleport" error. The usual fixes (updated drivers, small buff icons, 100% interface size, Nvidia interface size selector set to off/application chooses) didn't work. I imagine most people look at everything I just said and have no idea what any of it means. All of it is important for getting Alt 1 to actually work. Btw my issue was solved by changing a property of the RS3 launcher that also causes your game interface to get super blurry, which had its own fix via some in-game graphical adjustments. The point is Alt 1 needs a great guide and doesn't have one.
seriously clean. Just did this myself and i cannot get over how organized and clean it is. Thank you so much for helping a runescape noob figure out how to work the UI system here lol
33:20 -> 34:04 this... single handedly changed my life, holy smokes, why have i never thought of this before!? I have all my action bars bound but i never considered using the ANY function to work in that way! Thank you Ryan.
I'm trying to figure this issue out as well. My Main has the option, but now target info no longer appears above the target's head like it used to. But my Alt does not have this option in the menu, and the target info appears above the target's head as normal.
Excellent illustration of how incredibly bad and unaccesable the current interface is in Runescape. A 38 minute video to explain it how it works. The game interface.
i know someone's probably already said it but its incredible the community has to go above and beyond with settings/interfaces *the whole reason the players given a (useable) but still not so great interface is so the player can experiment with it themselves* (direct quote from mod jack during a qa livestream that focus'd on player experience) but there are so many settings that anybody new or returning just gets bombarded when they go to experiment themselves and end up so off putting from wanting to go any further, even long videos that help are off putting i love these kinds of videos veterans that help the player step by step so it doesnt feel as overwhelming i Hope in a future update this kind of stuff gets adressed, the pile just keeps getting added onto which is most definetly not a good thing
even just giving a signifigantly better interface setup from the start like this one and using tooltips to explain why they are there would be a huge help they give plenty of tooltips for treasure hunter promotions i do not see why they wouldnt do that for this kind of this as well @@TheRSGuy
As an osrs player that's enjoyed RS3 content for years, and has tried to get back into it multiple times. Genuinely, thank you for this. It was an incredible help. Not 100% sure I got the action bars setup properly, but hopefully i'll be able to figure it out if I don't. Just gotta figure out what to do on the game now, as I always feel super lost on what to focus on when trying to come back and play lol.
Fantastic guide! I would love to use something similar to your interface but I mainly play on a laptop and the interface scaling comes at the cost of text resolution (yes I can increase the font size but that doesn't make it any less fuzzy and wrong looking), among other problems. I really hope that some time in the near future Jagex gives the interface customization some love and makes it less of a mess to deal with. They should take inspiration from WoWs recent UI customization update and include a bunch of nice QoL features like grid lines, import/export functionality, proper interface scaling, etc. Necromancy and the combat changes they're working towards are amazing, but leaving the already neglected UI to continue gathering dust would be a huge mistake.
This video is great, thanks. I haven’t played for maybe 10 years. I logged in to my old account today. I’ve set the interface up. Still completely confused by it all but it’s a good first step. I didn’t really understand the key bind moving to action bar stuff at the end? Not sure if I’ve done it right? Anyone got any advice?? Thanks 🙏🏻
Is there a way too get the quest journal. not quest list as a pop up? kinda seems like it would be more useful on screen then the full quest list haha,
4:00 Why the 'Combat Target' option doesnt shows up in my setting? It just goes directly from 'Combat Mode Icon' to 'Crafting Progress', skipping the 'Combat Target'. Help anyone?
I just got a new gaming laptop and my interface was all messed up. I figured I should probably try rebuilding it and just get used to the new things over time. Then you showed the Interface Scaling option and everything was fixed by going down to 90% No relearning necessary. Thanks
So this is where these awful boxy screen space wasting interfaces, that we see on rs3 youtube channels are coming from. It's like screens got bigger, but autists were like "nah mate, let's only use 50% of screen for game window and let's fill up the rest with UI, most of which doesn't need to be displayed at all times". This is just the larger version of fixed window from the dark days of rs - 2007 and earlier.
I never comment on videos, but wow. This deserves all the praise! As somebody who has always played with a 6/10 setup it feels so refreshing to have a new and less cluttered set up. Thank you a bunch Ryan!
@@TheRSGuy As ridiculous as it sounds, this video singlehandedly kept me intrigued enough to start playing RS, cause up until this point I would just log on, then log out again after a short period because it was all just way too overwhelming, which in all fairness, as a new player, it is. Not to mention that I actually had quite a bit of fun tailoring it to my specific wants. MEGA video. Big ups!
I have been playing this game for 10+ years and i thought i had it all figured out. Boy was i wrong when did they add TARGETING my fingers could've been saved from so much hardship
I already had my UI layout set up before I watched this video. But the trick that I really liked was the game view adjustment. My character being centered in the window and not centered based on my UI elements was driving me nuts but I wasn't sure how to solve that. Thanks for showing that part. Now I don't feel like i'm playing partially blind due to my UI lol
Are the action bar settings bugged, because i can only add more additional bars, but I CANNOT display any of them. The game does nothing. In the past i have done this million times and i have gotten rid of the additional bar in the start, but this time i cant and now im stuck with like 5 additional bars and its ruining my game super bad. I only play with 1 bar always..
I watched it, but I dont have these prayers man. I am lvl 99 prayer, but mine looks standard lol. Gotta say, that i just came back from a 15 year break or so.
The interface scaling makes my text blurry etc so having a 1366x768 monitor sucks, I can't have more interfaces because the scaling makes it look awful
Just got back into the game and this is a video ai didnt realize I needed. Thank so much for putting the time and effort into something that I think most players would look past unless they are really into it. Making my experiance a lot better. The actionbar section being particular very useful. Big like and sub from me. I got no friends playing rs3 only osrs andy good servers to meet people to play with?
amazing explanation, however, why on earth the targeting is not working with me ? each time I am clicking on tab, it goes in my private messages telling me "you don't have any message to reply" (no keybind in "reply message" but still doing it clicking on tab...) i am lost
Thanks for taking the time on this. As a returning player and losing my old interface, this was exactly what I needed. Watched from start to finish and made sure to save my new UI. Cheers! 🍻
This vid alone just increased the DPS of all low-tier pvmers by 90%. Most low-tier players fight their interface more than they fight the boss, so this vid alone will go a looong way to helping people get better.
ok I am running into a problem I dont htink this guide addressed. How the fuck is my tab button still saying "You have no message to reply to" when I keybinded it to target cycling!?!?
Going to give it a go. I always felt like the UI was taking up too much space. Something you mentioned early was reducing an extra bars and titles. It was also hard to understand a lot of your screen at first when watching pvm content, because it looked like you action was a giant book. Now I have my own and I can actually understand what I am looking at. Thank you!
1 more thing I was looking but didn't find. is how to attack bosses as their spawning Helyer is a great example because I have to wait until he fully grow to his max size for me to attack him and I know that is possible to attack him sooner (like when he's growing) can you please help me out with this issue great video though.
thx for the video :D can you make new video about binds? (ofc watched the old one, but theres so much changes) for those who using mouse like urs with the 12 buttons on the side. I'm sure you have many recommendations as one who has been using it for years
I spent literally hours hacking together something that tries, yet fails to be remotely this clean. In that time I didnt find even half of these features. I can finally move the buff and debuff bar out of the space I want my action bars, which are currently built around that area. Legend!
great video, but i hate how this game works for when you have a 1440p monitor, even if you use the scaling the UI ends up HUGE or blury if you change off 100% and at 100% the ui is almost to small
Nice guide! i had toggled on "ask bank pin every login" and recently i realised it was ticked off again, i got paranoid if someone else could have turned it off. i got all safety authentification. did it just reset on its own, anyone eperienced this before?
Hey RS Guy, first off love the video, as someone who struggles to get back into rs3 after a really long break this helps me out a ton! now i would like to ask if you can make a starter guide to ability bars. i have mine setup as yours but i dont really know what to put on them or how to use them properly thanks if you want to take time to make a video about this!
As someone who plays MMOs with a flashbang amount of screen clutter in games like WoW I really need to take this to heart. Ty for repping Ontario for the homies
I knew nearly everything but I know people neeeded this watched it just to see if I don’t know anything to help haha Least I’m ok I like my display fps so I can see ping lol 😆
WOW omg thank you so much this will help me a lot i played around with the stuff ages ago and got a interface saved and then when other stuff come out it messed with it and i never could get it right after and the targeting stuff wow i never knew about that.... my bloke bars keep messing up so i gonna show him this video later thank you
scaling your interface makes it looks so much worse haha, its one of the reasons i dont play RS3, the interface is too small on my screen, but blowing it up makes it look terrible and off putting
I like the fact that they actually let you do this but it feels like it's too much. What if you just want to experience the game without having to do this? Why can't they implement a way for you to make a preset UI and then share it with others?
Amazing guide, but you absolutely need to stop ending sentences like a valley girl, once you hear it it's impossible to unhear it and makes watching your content almost unbearable.
idk whats wrong with my action bar binding but sometimes when I switch styles my extra bars that I want static and active at all times switch too. any way to return all bars to default and re bind them correctly?
I think you missed one thing and thats roof. to do that go to settings>graphics>remove roofs>always. i know they annoy me and i am sure they might annoy other people
This is an absolute beyond useless guide followed it step by step yet still cant even fit all the menus demonstrated here on my screen and thats with a 90 interface scaling also looks like chaos
