man, I still can't believe that the bot managed to get down ERUV, perfectly thwarting your setup and opening absolutely nothing. Not many words end in a V!

18:33 You may not have any vowels on your rack, but you could use the 2 blanks to form the word VOWELS :)

When he said "we've got no vowels" I was thinking, "sure if you have a free E or O you have NOVOWELS".

Crazy idea, but consider throwing back a blank when you exchange? Kinda feel like it’s entering 2-bingo territory to win. Save MST? Or MS? Then hope to bingo, draw the other ? back and bingo again.

Very counterintuitive but definitely not crazy! Once I believe Josh Sokol turned over ??A or something like that on an overdraw by his opponent and threw the A back because he had a ~100 point lead and figured he only loses if his opponent bingos separately with both blanks

Really interesting game! I think playing defensive and keeping the board closed was a smart move in the early game but it really backfired on you later when you got stuck with a ton of consonants with no way to play them off

Yeah for sure, maybe should've been a bit more aggressive later on, either way though I think it was gonna be tough with all those cnsnnnts

At 18:34 you mention having no vowels when (with the right floaters) you’d have the perfect rack to play “novowels”

My impression is that Mack and BestBot have played at the same level but Mack is currently seven games down (26-33). Has BestBot been luckier than Mack so far?

"FAB" disturbed me because I thought the double letter square above the i in APORIA needed to be taken out as a first priority. Denying the bot opportunity if they had an M or H to put above it. I don't think it's easy for the bot to play alongside IZARS so playing FAB just gives the bot first dibs at playing parallel to APORIA.

I would have gone for something like NONPLAYER or COSPLAYER/COSPLAYED (if those are accepted) through the YE, which was highly unlikely to get blocked.

Wow, what a find! COSPLAY and its variants were actually added in the newest NWL update but, sadly, Mack's not playing with NWL23 yet.

I know COSPLAY itself is good in SOWPODS/CSW, since I tried it when I had CALYPSO that didn't fit, but I'm not sure about it as a verb (-ER/ED/ING). Many of these neologisms are currently only good as either nouns or verbs, not both.

Plays like ERUV make me suspicious of that code that the bot author showed where the bot can deduce the tiles on the opponent's rack. It puts down a block in the perfect place in like 10 sec, ending with a V no less to shut down the board. Also, today I learnt that pinochle is, for whatever insane reason, pronounced pee-knuckle and not pin-OH-cull.
