The Law of Human Nature should be S Tier! That book is basically all his books combined to one. It literally can replace a lot of therapy to some people!!!!
@vinuzo9548
@vinuzo9548 Год назад
I feel like it’s more of a summary of his books. It doesn’t go in depth enough in the each topic imo. If you really want to understand greene’s ideas you have to read all of his books to get the full picture
@Simo.offisiell
@Simo.offisiell Год назад
@@vinuzo9548 I agree and disagree. 48 laws of power adresses how to handle egos and aggression while providing practical advice. While this book shows the reason why people do what they do. The other books show more practical advice, but lack the explaination of WHY; the psychology! AND a MAJOR PART about The Laws of Human Nature is about self-assesment and understanding yourself and others through a realistic lens to improve your self. Not just practical advice about how to seduce, manipulate or not offend. All his books are great though, but this is the theoretical understanding of humans as a species not just practicality. And it includes practical self-assesment steps as well.
@sikderqais6151

@SIMO nah, That's Robert Greene's most watered down book. 48 Laws of Power destroys the Law of Human Nature.
@Simo.offisiell
@Simo.offisiell Год назад
@@sikderqais6151 How? It goes deeper in explaining the ideas of certan phenomas and give more concrete practical advice than 48. It is also more concise and comprehensive with only 18 laws. On the other side 48 laws of power is mainly practical advice. The book is more focused primarly on competition, egos and such, while the laws focus more on personal growth and understanding people around you. Would always advice to read both books, since they both touch on different topics. If you feel like 48 destroys the laws is your personal opinion, but to say it is the most watered down book is completely false.
@zenostrixster
@zenostrixster Месяц назад
For me the laws of Human nature is a book purely to understanding how humans operate and get a better understanding of human psychology. Understanding the concepts is key here. You are right it's not that practical but if you understand the concept simply knowing that can help you act differently

A must read for everyone who is excited for this tier list, is definitily "Ego is The Enemy". This book teaches lot of gems, it' s a great break of structure from your "tipical" self improvement book! And one of those leasson which stuck with me the most is how in the wrong concept/ context,any of these self-improvement rules/tips could be an acctual downfall instead of a improvment, we should always remember that ego decieves us even when we had the best intentions,strategy, theory, it could be fatal. Just because reading power of now twice makes no sense intellectually definitely doesn't mean it's not s tier. It's the single most important book you can read in life. Without being able to really live in the present moment, you essentially experience life to a lesser degree. Also nearly all problems you personally have in the modern world are ego caused (you dont think so but its true), so if you read this book and learn to disable your ego when advantageous your benefit is unfathomable. You automatically become better in every single aspect of your life and also prevents to not chase what you actually don't want yourself.
@user-ku5be4nc3g
@user-ku5be4nc3g Год назад
@@Alex-bl8uh You are right to some degree. My point (which i did not communicate well) is that once you know to be in the moment and start meditating in every situation you dont need the book anymore. So maybe that is the Definition of an s Tier book. To me it is not as there is not much more value in it and the value Comes from practice only.

Also hard agree Power of now already gives away the answer in the title and is grossly repetitive be in the now but he read it as a kid and is probably near and dear to him bc of that it would hit different if I read it as a teen…four agreements and mastery are better in my opinion and should have been ranked higher and above it

I believe the "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius is one of the best "self-help" book out there, the one that will actually improve your life. But I do agree that the Penguin Classics version is hard to understand because of the old style English, I would recommend to read the translation of Gregory Hays, much more easier to read. Really solid tier list, btw.

This tier list is mess up... If you really read those books you must have seen that most of them comes from the basics. So, i think something more accurate will be: S Tier (Jewels of wisdom that has endure centuries) - The art of war. Sun Tzu - Meditations. Marcus Aurelius -The Prince. Maquiavello -The republic. Plato A Tier. (Books that take the words of the classic authors to modern life and give precise advise). - How to win friends. -The 7 habits of higly effective people -Atomic Habits -48 laws of power B Tier. (Decent books with a lot of kinda-obvious content). Robert Greene (In general) C Tier (Just OK books that really dont have a strong foundation) -Rich dad poor dad (and every other inspirational but vague financial book) D Tier. (books with absolute no foundation) The Secret...

Atomic Habits also takes a lot of inspiration from other self improvement books like The Power of Habit. I'd recommend to find the most updated book on the topic u wanna improve on (which in this case is Atomic Habits). If u wanna learn more about it or want other people's perspective on it, you can always read the more outdated books. I beleieve they bring value as well. But the most important things from the older books are usually already implemented in the newer, so it's not a "must read".
